Father Broom delivers his Friday evening Perseverance talk on the subject of fasting. Lent begin in a few days – what do we do to fast? How do we do it? Why do we fast?

Father Broom gives us practical examples of ways to fast. No matter our age or condition we can all do at least some small fasts for Lent. To discipline ourselves and to make reparation for our sins and the sins of the world.

Father Broom speaks to the Confirmation students about Christ at the Last Supper and His Agony in the Garden. He stresses Christ’s friendship with his Apostles and His friendship with us. When we hurt a friend we regret it and ask for forgiveness. Our sins hurt Christ in the Garden and in His Passion. This is why we go to Confession – to repair our relationship with our best friend – Jesus Christ.

Father Broom speaks to the Confirmation boys and girls (mostly 8th graders) about the five wolves that are attacking them in our world today. If these young people avoided these five wolves they would have happy successful lives and be on the path to Heaven. With God’s help and our prayers they can avoid these deadly predators.

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen said that the dynamic of our Faith is: Come and then Go! We come to Christ in the Sacraments particularly in the Mass then we can go out to the whole world to announce the good news of His redemption of us.

Father Broom preaches on our missionary call. Jesus sent the 72 and He is sending us! Beg for the grace to be a missionary like Bishop Sheen.
