Father Broom preaches on Monday June 25 on the evils of materialism….which leads to utilitarianism. Why are there few vocations? There is no money or glory in religious life. Why are more than 90% of children with Down’s syndrome murdered in the womb? Society does not think of them as useful.

Father Broom draws three lessons from this short Gospel

1) Do not give what is holy to the dogs… no pearls before swine.. when our belief in God weakens we find other gods….

2) The Golden Rule – a practical guide to living

3) The Road to destruction is wide and easy and many enter it. The Road to Heaven is constricted and steep. The Gate is narrow.

St. John the Baptist – Martyred by evil King Herod for defending God’s Law.

St. John Fisher – Bishop and Martyr – and St. Thomas More – Father, Husband, Statesman, Author and Martyr – both martyred for defying the attack on the Catholic Church by apostate King Henry VIII.

Father Broom shows that these brave holy men died to preserve religious freedom. Our Faith and our beliefs are under attack today – just as they were in the 1st Century and the 16th Century.

All Holy Martyrs – Pray for us!
