Father Broom preaches on the Gospel for Monday of the Second Week of Advent: Luke 5:17-26. This is the healing of the paralytic. Father emphasizes the love, faithfulness, diligence, faith, effort, sacrifice, tenacity and creativity of the friends of the paralytic.

They loved their friend and knew he needed Jesus… and nothing was gong to stop them from accomplishing their goal. What faith and determination!

Father Broom invites us to beg for the grace to have that degree of faith, love and tenacity to bring our family and friends to the greatest healer… the healer of both body and soul, Our Lord Jesus Christ.

“Our tainted nature’s solitary boast;” William Wordsworth

Mary has been given the privilege of being the Immaculate Conception. She was the natural daughter of St. Joachim and St. Anne and was conceived in her mother’s womb without any stain of original sin. Jesus and Mary are the only two people ever conceived without original sin. Jesus Christ the God Man comes forth only from the womb of Mary…. he is sinless and so is she.

Father Broom talks on this unique privilege and Mary’s role in salvation history as the new Eve….. as sin entered into the world because of the disobedience and pride of a woman under a tree so redemption from sin is made possible by an obedient humble woman under a tree and that woman is Mary, the Immaculate Conception.

Father Broom gives the opening talk at the St. Peter Chanel Parish Advent Retreat on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

His talk is a testimonial to the role Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, has played in his life.

She formed him, led him, protected him, shielded him, and developed his vocation to the priesthood and to religious life in the Oblates of the Virgin Mary. Father Broom has spoken often on the theological meanings of Mary’s role in salvation. He has expounded well on the four Marian Dogmas.
He has led many people to Consecration to Jesus through Mary according to St. Louis De Montfort. But in the end, it is a deep mother and son relationship that shines forth with their mutual love for each other.

Father Broom knows that if we love her, she will guide us to Heaven where we will be with her and the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for all eternity.

Father Broom talks to the children in 3rd though 7th grade Catechism classes at their Mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. We are at the Vigil of the Immaculate Conception. We are only a few days away from the great Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

We are preparing for the great joy of Christ’s Birth in just a few weeks…. and who wants to rejoice with us? It is Mary… she is the Cause of Our Joy since she is the one who brings Jesus to us on Christmas morning. It was her “YES” to God’s request that brought the Incarnation present in the World!

She is the Cause of Our Joy!
