Father Broom preaches on November 17, the feast day of St. Margaret of Scotland – daughter of a Saint and mother of two Saints! What a treasury of riches we have in the lives of the saints.

This great Saint is a model of holy married love, blessed parenting (eight children), devoted love for the poor, and love and service to country.

Father Broom preaches on the Kingdom of God. We have many images for the Kingdom – Heaven is the one we 1st think of. But the Kingdom of God is present in the Tabernacle… God lives there. The Kingdom is present the hands of the priest in the Consecration. It is present in the the baptized baby incapable of sinning…. yet. It is present in us when we are in a state of sanctifying grace. The Kingdom of God is present in every Holy Communion.

This day, Nov. 15, is the feast day of St. Albert the Great… he was the greatest scholar in the world and an expert in all of the sciences, mathematics, philosophy, and theology. He taught St. Thomas Aquinas. But he was a poor student until he asked the Blessed Virgin Mary to help him.

Father Broom preaches on the Gospel of the Ten Lepers…. all of whom were cured by the Lord but only a foreigner returned to offer thanks. How many gifts God the father has lavished on us…our lives, our Church and its Sacraments….and even the gift of His only Son, Jesus Christ who came to die for us. And he gives us that gift every day in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass.

Our prayer today should be one of gratitude. We should pray like Mary:
“My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior”.

Father Broom preaches on the Feast Day of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini – Mother Cabrini. The Saints are the friends of God. Their lives were spent loving God. Because they loved God totally they lived lives dedicated to the Works of Mercy – Corporal and Spiritual.

Which of these works is God calling me to today? Ask Mother Cabrini, Mother Teresa, St. Francis, St, Vincent De Paul… ask the great St. John Bosco what is the specific Work of Mercy I can carry out in my life.
