Father Broom preaches on the Second Sunday of Ordinary Time – John 2:1-12 – The Wedding Feast at Cana. Who recognizes the problem? Mary! Who intercedes with Jesus to solve the problem? Mary? What a model for us. Go to Mary for your needs, for your problems, for help with your weaknesses.
She is the surest shortest and most direct path to the heart of her Son.

Father reminds us that the best way to pray for Mary’s sweet intercession in our lives is to pray the Rosary – especially the family rosary. If we please her with our daily rosary she will be waiting to open the door of Heaven to us when we die.

Father Broom preaches on the friends of the paralytic. What an example these four anonymous friends are for us. The have compassion for their friend. It is an active determined compassion. They are willing to work hard and with creativity to ensure their friend sees Jesus. They didn’t just wish him well and go on their way.

They had great faith in Jesus and knew where their friend could find true healing. We should pray that we have their active compassion, their determination and their faith. We should bring all of our wounds and the wounds of our family to the altar to be healed by the Lord.

Father Broom preaches on Hebrews 4:1-5,11.If we walk with the Lord, we will enter into His Rest. If we remember His works, our hearts will be softened and we will be able to enter the rest he has prepared for us. If we harden our hearts, the Lord says: As I swore in my wrath “they shall not enter my rest”. Our choice is clear for this life and for all eternity.

Father Broom in his Friday evening Perseverance meeting talks about abortion.

He gives us concrete steps to battle this great evil – he begins with Mercy – if we know someone who has been involved with abortion, he exhorts us to express God’s Mercy to that person. What we can do to prevent abortions. What we can do to repair for abortions.

SAINT ANTHONY OF THE DESERT

Father Broom preaches on St. Anthony of the Desert. Some saints die as children, many die in middle age and some live to be over 100 years old, like St. Anthony of the Desert.

He lived a rigorous life of fasting and prayer… he lived in the harsh environment of the desert… he ate and slept little and yet he radiated joy. When we truly have God we surely have joy. When we have God as St. Anthony did, the poor material conditions of our life fade away from our mind and we are left with only the presence of God…. and that counts as pure joy!
