Father Ed Broom points out that Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen said Our Lord was a preacher, but his most eloquent preaching was from the pulpit of the cross that first Good Friday. Our Lord spoke seven times from the cross. Father Ed gives a commentary on each of the 7 Last Words of Jesus and how we can apply them to our lives. The first words of Jesus on the cross are, “Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.” One of the essential messages in these words of Jesus is that of Mercy. Our Lord was forgiving. He was merciful. All of us have to understand what mercy is. All of us have to give mercy, to receive mercy. Father Ed gives us 5 ways we can practice mercy through forgiveness.
