He is the Patron of youth, of students and of Jesuit novices. He was a brilliant student but died at 23 while a Jesuit seminarian. He contracted the plague while treating the infirm and dying and passed away a short time later. He received his First holy Communion form St. Charles Borromeo and his spiritual director was St. Robert Bellarmine.
When he was a child, St Charles Borromeo told him there were three practices
necessary to become a saint. Father Broom shows us that all three practices are readily available to us today.
