Fr. Ed Broom highlights two lessons we can learn from the two saints we celebrate today – St Basil and St Gregory Nazianzen – their pursuit of learning and pursuit of virtue.

Our spiritual life can be divided into 2 parts: the “Martha” and the “Mary”, which means: the active and the contemplative life.  The active life will be successful only and as much as you have a contemplative life.

Father Ed Broom, OMV, is Associate Pastor of St. Peter Chanel Church in Hawaiian Gardens, California. He is a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary and was ordained by Saint John Paul II on May 25, 1986. Fr Ed’s teaches Catholic Ignatian Marian Spirituality through articles, podcasts, a radio show, retreats and spiritual direction.
