Primera lectura

Os 8, 4-7. 11-13

Esto dice el Señor:
“Han nombrado reyes sin contar conmigo,
han escogido príncipes sin saberlo yo.
Con su oro y su plata se han hecho ídolos,
para su perdición.
Tu becerro, Samaria, es repulsivo
y mi ira arde contra él.
¿Hasta cuándo serán incapaces de purificarse
los hijos de Israel?
Un artesano ha hecho ese becerro, que no es Dios,
por eso quedará hecho trizas.

Siembran vientos y cosecharán tempestades;
su trigo no dará espigas, no producirá harina su grano,
y si la produce, los extranjeros se la comerán.

Efraín ha construido multitud de altares,
y sólo le han servido para pecar.
Aunque yo les escribiera todas mis leyes,
las ignorarían como si fueran de un extraño.
Aunque inmolen víctimas en mi honor
y coman su carne, no me dan gusto,
pues tengo presentes sus culpas
y castigaré sus pecados.
Por eso volverán a la esclavitud’’.

Evangelio

Mt 9, 32-38

En aquel tiempo, llevaron ante Jesús a un hombre mudo, que estaba poseído por el demonio. Jesús expulsó al demonio y el mudo habló. La multitud, maravillada, decía: “Nunca se había visto nada semejante en Israel”. Pero los fariseos decían: “Expulsa a los demonios por autoridad del príncipe de los demonios”.

Jesús recorría todas las ciudades y los pueblos, enseñando en las sinagogas, predicando el Evangelio del Reino y curando toda enfermedad y dolencia. Al ver a las multitudes, se compadecía de ellas, porque estaban extenuadas y desamparadas, como ovejas sin pastor. Entonces dijo a sus discípulos: “La cosecha es mucha y los trabajadores, pocos. Rueguen, por lo tanto, al dueño de la mies que envíe trabajadores a sus campos”.

Pero para que el hombre pueda entrar en la intimidad de Él ha querido revelarse al hombre y darle la gracia de poder acoger en la fe esa revelación. Sin embargo, las pruebas de la existencia de Dios pueden disponer a la fe y ayudar a ver que la fe no se opone a la razón humana.
