En el siglo XIX, cuando la Revolución Industrial estaba en todo su apogeo, la juventud y toda la sociedad de Europa se encontró cara a cara con peligros físicos, morales y espirituales como nunca antes. La comunidad agraria rápidamente se transforma en ciudad con un ritmo mucho más rápido de mucho ajetreo. Con esto, las familias son desplazadas y viven momentos de conmoción y periodos de agitación provocada por los estructuras sociales cambiantes. Un sinnúmero de jóvenes se encuentran desamparados, sin una familia que se ocupe de ellos, y sin el apoyo de la sociedad y el mundo. Vistos como marginales, los jóvenes huérfanos vagan por las calles de las grandes ciudades, expuestos a todos los peligros imaginables.
Dios omnipotente y poderoso, conociendo bien su lucha, sufrimiento y situación, interviene y brinda ayuda a una juventud que parece que está a la merced de una sociedad implacable y agresiva. En su Divina Providencia, Dios levanta, entra las filas de sus soldados valientes, a la persona de SAN JUAN BOSCO.
Este gran santo, había perdido a su padre cuando era solo un niño, había crecido en una pobreza extrema, había sido perseguido por su medio hermano – se convierte en un faro de luz resplandeciente que ilumina y da nueva dirección a tantos jóvenes sin marcha. Juan Bosco encamina a un gran número de jóvenes que vagaban por las calles de Turín, Italia como ovejas sin pastor.
Juan Bosco sintió un llamado interior impetuoso de salvar a los jóvenes de las garras de los lobos rapaces y se convirtió en el amigo, guía, líder, pastor y de forma singular, en guía espiritual de estas almas. Juan Bosco, inspirado por Dios y con plena fe en la Divina Providencia, abre el ORATORIO de Valdocco para los jóvenes desamparados de la ciudad de Turín. El oratorio se convierte en hogar para los huérfanos de Turín. Las actividades que eran parte del sistema educativo del oratorio incluía el estudio, el trabajo, el juego, la convivencia, la oración, la confesión, la santa Misa y la santa Comunión.
El sello distintivo y éxito de este programa educativo fue su enfoque PREVENTIVO. Es decir, era mejor salvar, ayudar, enseñar y dirigir a los jóvenes en el camino recto que intervenir después que se haya caído o cometido un error. San Juan Bosco, amante incansable de la juventud, también se desvivía por las ovejas descarriadas y luchaba por regresarlas al redil.
¿Qué podemos hacer tanto nosotros como nuestros jóvenes para seguir los pasos de San Juan Bosco, gran amante de la juventud?
Primero, debemos reconocer con humildad y honestidad que estamos viviendo tiempos que nunca antes en la historia de la humanidad hemos visto. Las tentaciones, luchas, desafíos y los obstáculos que enfrentan los jóvenes, incluso, los niños, en su caminar para seguir a Cristo de forma pura, noble y santa son enormes! Este breve ensayo pretende motivarnos para ayudar a nuestra juventud para que no caigan en las garras del diablo, y salvaguardarlos de ser presa del lobo voraz para así salvaguardar su salvación eterna. Presentaremos a continuación diez sugerencias concretas…
1. RECONOCER LOS INCONTABLES ENEMIGOS QUE EN ENFRENTAN LOS JÓVENES. Las drogas, la bebida, la pornografía, la inmoralidad, el sexo, el pandillerismo, la agenda gay, intentos de suicidio, el materialismo, el consumismo, en si, un entorno social de desobediencia y rebeldía. Todo esto describe la contaminación que respira la juventud que está perjudicando su vida espiritual. A nosotros, los adultos y buenos pastores de los jóvenes, nos corresponde estar atentos y reconocer los numerosos y peligrosos enemigos. Todo buen pastor debe conocer cuando al manada de lobos está atacando su presa!
2. ¡ORAR! ¡ORAR! ¡ORAR! Espero que todos dediquen un tiempo para hacer oración, para rezar. La oración es el oxígeno del alma. Sin la oración, nos sofocamos y morimos. Jesús y San Pablo en sus cartas nos insisten en que recemos siempre sin desfallecer. Con toda honestidad, no oramos lo suficiente por nuestros jóvenes. Rezamos por la paz mundial, por los huérfanos, los enfermos, los moribundos, la Iglesia, los matrimonios, la familia, y estas intenciones son muy nobles, pero no debemos descuidar rezar por los jóvenes. Todos los días, recemos por nuestra juventud, por su seguridad y su salvación; ¡ofrezcamos oraciones, Misas, comuniones y sacrificio por su salvación!
3. PADRES DE ADOLESCENTES; HABLEN CON SUS HIJOS. Trabajar con los jóvenes, especialmente con adolescentes, incluso puede llegar a ser bastante exasperante. Pero no por eso debemos darnos por vencidos o tirar la toalla; así no lo hizo San Juan Bosco. Los padres de familia deben buscar tiempo, formas, métodos y estrategias para conectarse con sus adolescentes; entre más rebelde sea, más debemos de esforzarnos por entenderlos para poder salvarlos. A veces los adolescentes son callados, taciturnos, tristes, deprimidos, enojados y rechazan a todos, todo esto es síntomas de llanto que necesitan de sus padres, de su apoyo, atención, su presencia y su amor. ¡Padres, que no se extinga la mecha que arde! ¡Hagan tiempo para estar y hablar con sus hijos!
4. TOMAR LOS ALIMENTOS CON LOS JÓVENES. Los estudios sociológicos en todos los ámbitos muestran que es muy importante el tiempo que pasan juntos, en particular, el tiempo en que toman los alimentos juntos en familia, en especial para los jóvenes. Los estudios revelan que los adolescentes cuyos padres se sientan a la mesa para comer y platicar con ellos, realizan mejor sus estudios, son mejores atletas, sufren menos de depresión, viven más felices y experimentan mayor bienestar.
5. QUÉ DEBEMOS “NO” TENER EN LA MESA. En efecto, una familia puede estar sentada a la mesa junta y todos en su propio mundo. ¿Cómo puede ser esto? ¡Por la presencia ubicua de el mundo electrónico! La hora de la comida debe estar libre del ruido ensordecedor de la televisión, la radio, el celular, los mensajes de texto, el internet y todas las redes sociales. Es decir, el valor de la persona humana – la mamá, el papá, el hijo, la hija, el hermano, la hermana, la abuela y el abuelo – supera el valor de todos los medios electrónicos en el universo. Tristemente, nuestra realidad es otra, para muchos, los aparatos, las maquinitas, la pantalla grande y pequeña y todo objeto inanimado parece trascender en importancia al ser humano. ¡Esto es la idolatría moderan! De hecho, la idolatría es cuando ponemos algo por encima de Dios. La persona humana es el templo de Dios y debe ser respetado por su dignidad innata y su destino – la patria celestial.
6. ¿QUÉ HACER O DECIR? La familia disfuncional se caracteriza por la desintegración de la comunicación. Estas familias realmente nunca se han conectado en un nivel más profundo de comunicación. Estas familias tienen que aprender a platicar, y hablar nuevamente, especialmente alrededor de la mesa. Estas podrían ser algunas sugerencias para crear un ambiente armonioso y alegre en la familia a la hora de comer. Primero, comiencen con una oración. Bendigan los alimentos y pidan a Jesús que se siente a la mesa con la familia; Jesús es el mejor huésped y fuente de unión y amor. Segundo, ¡escuche! Cuando un miembro de la familia habla, le que el cree o dice es importante; escuche con atención sin juzgar. Tercero, anime a todos a ser fuente de consuelo. Cuarto, ¡comparta la verdad; podría ser un pasaje bíblico, un evento eclesial, una convivencia, una inspiración o anécdota personal. Todo esto puede alimentar los pensamientos y las palabras. Quinto, ¡sonría! Uno de los gestos más alentadores para fomentar la comunicación saludable es la sonrisa. Una sonrisa también es uno de los signos más claros de que somos discípulos de Cristo. En sexto lugar, aprenda a contar buenos chistes y historias que edifiquen. En séptimo lugar, ¡ría! El sonreír proporciona una serie de beneficios para la salud. Octavo, comparta sus conocimientos. San Ignacio de Loyola en los Ejercicios Espirituales – Contemplación para alcanzar amor – dice claramente que quién ama, quiere compartir su tesoro con los demás – comparta lo que sabe. En noveno lugar, si uno de su familia, es tímido o tiene miedo y no ha dicho nada en la mesa, el padre debe animarle a que aporte algo a la conversación, y todos los demás deben escuchar con atención. En décimo lugar, ¡concluyan con una oración! Si aplicamos estas ideas y principios, la comunicación mejorará en la familia y los jóvenes no experimentarán una soledad aplastante.
7. JUGAR CON LOS JÓVENES Una de las características del oratorio y el éxito de San Juan Bosco fue la importancia del tiempo de recreación y el tiempo de los juegos sanos. Los padres deben aprender a jugar con sus jóvenes; tenis, ping-pong, baloncesto, ciclismo, senderismo, softbol o béisbol. Los deportes pueden ser de valor incalculable en la formación de buenos hábitos sociales para los jóvenes, también es otra forma de alejarlos del mundo electrónico en el que están metidos ya que no están viviendo una realidad!
8. LA CONVERSACIÓN ANTES DE IR ACOSTARSE. Busque oportunidades claves para hablar en un nivel más profundo con sus jóvenes. Para los niños, la hora de acostarse demuestra ser la hora de máxima receptividad, y también para los adolescentes! Todos tenemos nuestros miedos, inquietudes, heridas, dudas y fracasos. Siéntese a lado de su hijo y simplemente pregúntele cómo le fue ese día; entonces, si hay algo que tiene en su mente o en el corazón que le pesa, él se abrirá. Esto podría resultar muy eficaz para formar fuertes lazos con los jóvenes y les ayudará para no hacer malas decisiones que podrían hacer cuando están pasando por un momento de desolación.
9. SI CAEN O FALLAN – ¡PERDONEN SETENTA VECES SIETE! Si es el caso que su hijo ha fallado moralmente con la – bebida, drogas, pornografía, cortándose, relaciones prematrimoniales, etc. – no se de por vencido. Practique la misericordia y perdone. Dígales que nuestro Dios es un Dios de amor y de perdón, que Dios los espera con las brazos abiertos para extenderles su perdón, pero con una condición – que se arrepientan, estén listos para cambiar y tomar otro rumbo, el camino de Dios. Luego, lleve a su adolescente a la fuente del perdón, al Sacramento de la confesión. “Aunque sus pecados sean como la escarlata, yo los haré tan blancos como la nieve.” (Is 1)
10. CONSAGRACIÓN DE LOS JÓVENES AL INMACULADO CORAZÓN DE MARÍA. En medio de las tempestades, tormentas, terremotos, tsunamis y feroces batallas y luchas de la vida (los jóvenes tienen su porción) tiene que haber un refugio seguro… este refugio es el INMACULADO CORAZÓN DE MARÍA. Debemos rezar y enseñar a nuestros jóvenes a rezar oraciones cortas y fuertes jaculatorias: ¡DULCE CORAZÓN DE MARÍA SED MI SALVACIÓN! Busquemos refugio seguro en el Inmaculado Corazón de María que ella nos llevará al SAGRADO CORAZON DE JESUS y al puerto de salvación. Como el gran Doctor melifluo, San Bernardo nos recuerda en la oración Acordaos:
Acordaos,oh piadosísima Virgen María,que jamás se ha oído decir que ninguno de los que han acudido a tu protección, implorando tu asistencia y reclamando tu socorro, haya sido abandonado de ti. Animado con esta confianza,a ti también acudo, oh Madre,Virgen de las vírgenes, y aunque gimiendo bajo el peso de mis pecados, me atrevo a comparecer ante tu presencia soberana.”….
El padre Ed Broom, OMV (Oblato de la Virgen María), conocido también como Padre Escobita, fue ordenado sacerdote por san Juan Pablo II en 1986.
