LA ORACION AGRADABLE A DIOS PADRE

“Por medio de la oración mental, el alma se purifica de sus pecados, se alimenta en la caridad, se confirma en la fe y se fortalece en la esperanza; la mente se expande, los afectos se intensifican, el corazón se purifica, la verdad se revela; la tentación se vence, la tristeza se disipa, las facultades se renuevan, las fuerzas caídas se vitalizan; la tibieza cesa, el escombro de los vicios desaparece.  De la oración mental brota, como vivo resplandor, el anhelo del cielo, que el alma percibe cuando llena del fuego del amor divino.  Sublime es la excelencia de la oración mental; grandes son sus privilegios; en la oración mental se manifiestan los secretos divinos y el oído de Dios está atento.” (San Pedro de Alcántara)

Leamos, reflexionemos y meditemos estas palabras poderosamente convincentes de SAN PEDRO DE ALCÁNTARA, para crecer en »el arte de todos los artes» (según san Alfonso M. Ligorio) ¡el arte de la oración!  San Pedro de Alcántara fue quien dirigió a santa Teresa de Ávila y fue pieza clave en la reforma del Orden Carmelita. 

  1. EL ESPÍRITU SANTO. Pida al Espíritu Santo, sin cesar, con fe y con fervor, el don de la oración.  El Espíritu Santo es el «Maestro Interior» y nos puede enseñar a orar y alentarnos en la oración.  San Pablo en su carta a los Romanos hace hincapié de la importancia del Espíritu Santo en la oración: «No sabemos orar como conviene, pero el Espíritu Santo intercede por nosotros con gemidos inefables para que podamos decir Abba, Padre» (Romanos 8:26).
  2. TIEMPO Y ESFUERZO. Haga hoy el propósito, que cada día rezará un poco más y un poco mejor.  A Dios no se le gana en generosidad.  En los Ejercicios Espirituales, anotación número 5, san Ignacio nos desafía a la MAGNANIMIDAD — que sencillamente significa, a que seamos generosos con Dios.  ¿Por qué no levantarse 10 minutos más temprano para dar al Señor diez minutos más en la oración?
  3. PUREZA DE CORAZÓN.  El pecado es un obstáculo a la oración; por analogía, el pecado es el fango que empaña el cristal de nuestra alma, e impide que los rayos divinos la penetren.  LA CONFESIÓN –  Al hacer una buena confesión, el cristal interior de nuestra alma se limpia, de tal forma que podemos con mayor claridad contemplar el rostro de Dios y así podamos vivir la bienaventuranza: «Bienaventurados los limpios de corazón porque verán a Dios» (Mt 5:8)
  4. LA LECTURA ESPIRITUAL SOBRE LA ORACIÓN.  Santa Teresa de Ávila, Doctora de la Iglesia sobre la oración, no permitía entrar al convento de la orden Carmelita, a toda mujer que no supiera leer.  ¿Por qué?   Porque por experiencia propia, sabía lo mucho que se podía aprender, de leer buenos libros que tratan de la oración.  Han pasado cerca de quinientos años, y ahora tenemos un depósito infinito de buena lectura sobre la oración.
  5. DIRECCIÓN ESPIRITUAL. El gran Doctor místico de la Iglesia, san Juan de la Cruz, en tono de broma dijo, «Quien a sí mismo toma por director espiritual, se hace discípulo de un tonto».   En otras palabras, todos tenemos puntos ciegos y necesitamos de un experto que nos lo señale.  Alumnos todos somos; por tal, necesitamos de alguien capacitado en la vida espiritual, que nos ayude a superar los muchos obstáculos en la vida de oración, para así poder perseverar en nuestra búsqueda de santidad y ¡ascender en el camino de santidad!  Puede ser de valor incalculable hablar con un director espiritual ocasionalmente sobre nuestra vida de oración.
  6. LUCHA/COMBATE ESPIRITUAL. Sería ingenuo suponer que la oración siempre será fácil.  Como en cualquier arte o talento que queremos desarrollar, aprender o perfeccionar, se requiere mucho tiempo, esfuerzo y trabajo.  Los atletas lo expresan así, «¡Sin dolor, no hay ganancia!»  El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica presenta como ejemplo de lo que es la oración, la lucha y el combate de Jacob.  Una noche, Jacob recibe la visita de un ángel, y toda la noche los dos forcejearon.  Jacob no soltó al ángel hasta que no recibió de él una bendición.  El ángel lo bendice, pero en el forcejeo, Jacob sufre daño al nervio ciático y empieza a renguear.  La Iglesia interpreta esto, como modelo de la lucha de una persona que ora.  Nuestra vida de oración a veces es una lucha.  En una ocasión un sacerdote ya grande me dijo, que la oración a veces es como ¡empujar una carretilla llena de cemento en una colina empinada!
  7. PERSEVERANCIA. Santa Teresa de Ávila nos da una excelente sugerencia sobre la oración: ¡Bajo ninguna circunstancia, dejemos la oración!  Para aquellos que toman en serio su vida espiritual, las palabras de la santa resuenan poderosamente.  Esta Doctora de la Iglesia afirma: «Tengamos una determinada determinación de nunca dejar la oración».  San Alfonso Ligorio llegó a decir: «Quien reza bien, se salvará; quien no reza se condenará».  San Agustín con su elocuencia poética dice: «Quien ora bien, vive bien; quien vive bien, muere bien; quien muere bien, todo está bien».  ¡Excelente consejo!  Pongamos atención y sigamos las enseñanzas de los santos; quienes fueron maestros de oración, y ahora contemplan a Jesús cara a cara en la visión beatífica.
  8. TEXTOS DE ORACIÓN.   Santa Teresa de Ávila nos enseña, que para principiantes como para quienes tienen más experiencia, los libros son indispensables para prender el fuego de la oración.  Por supuesto, el libro por excelencia es la Biblia, que es la Palabra de Dios.  Y en la Biblia los Evangelios ocupan el primer lugar — ¡Mateo, Marcos, Lucas y Juan!  De gran importancia están también los 150 Salmos del Antiguo Testamento.  En esta obra maestra inspirada por el Espíritu Santo, tenemos los sentimientos principales que deberían estar presentes en una vida de oración madura, completa y bien formada.  Pueden ser sentimientos de: alabanza, acción de gracias, súplica, petición, contrición, asombro, temores y preocupaciones, esperanzas y anhelos, y sobre todo amor.  Todos estos sentimientos están presentes en los Salmos y ¡los podemos hacer nuestros en nuestra oración!

  1. SANTA MISA.  Nunca, nunca olvidemos que de toda oración que existe bajo el cielo, el Santo Sacrificio de la Misa es la oración que une el cielo y la tierra, el pasado, el presente y el futuro.  Si es posible, deberíamos asistir diariamente a Misa y comulgar. Si ya asiste diariamente a Misa y comulga, entonces luche por tener mejor disposición interior y por recibir mejor a Jesús Sacramentado.  El gesto más grande que un ser humano puede hacer en este mundo es recibir a Jesús con la debida disposición en la Sagrada Comunión.  Santa Faustina escribe, que los ángeles experimentan una santa envidia de nosotros porque ni uno de ellos puede recibir la Santa Comunión, ¡ni los querubines ni serafines!
  2. MARÍA Y LA ORACIÓN.  En nuestra oración, nunca debemos excluir la presencia de la Santísima Virgen María.  La primera pauta, hablamos de la necesitad de invocar al Espíritu Santo, la tercera Persona de la Santísima Trinidad.  La primera novena de los Apóstoles (Iglesia) concluyó con Pentecostés — hubo un fuerte viento, fuego y descendió el Espíritu Santo.  La presencia de María por nueve días y nueve noches, la oración y el ayuno, dieron lugar a una efusión del Espíritu Santo sobre los apóstoles y fueron transformados en forma radical (Hechos 2).  Vemos que cuando María se apareció en Fátima y Lourdes, insistió en la oración por la paz del mundo y por la conversión de los pecadores.  ¿Por qué no pedimos a María su intercesión, para cultivar una vida de oración cada vez más profunda!  «Ven Espíritu Santo, ven por medio del Corazón Inmaculado de María».
