Father Ed Broom reminds us the most eloquent symbol of Love is the Cross. If you are confused about what Love is, spend a few minutes contemplating Jesus on the cross. There you have Love Incarnate. Love demands a response. Therefore, we are to love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength. If we love God totally it will be manifested by the way we love our neighbor.

Father Ed Broom, OMV, serves as Associate Pastor at St. Peter Chanel Church in Hawaiian Gardens, California. He is a member of the Religious Order, Oblates of the Virgin Mary, and was ordained by Saint John Paul II in St Peter’s Basilica on May 25, 1986. Fr. Ed is a Retreat Master and teaches Catholic Ignatian Marian Spirituality through articles, podcasts, a radio show, retreats and spiritual direction. He is the author of three books: From Humdrum to Holy, Total. Consecration to Jesus through Mary though the Mysteries of the Rosary and Road Map to Heaven, A Catholic Plan of Life.

Underscoring that ALL of us are called to be shepherds – not just the priests, not just the bishops – Father Ed Broom pointedly illustrates what makes a good shepherd and what makes a bad shepherd.
