Father Broom preaches on the great St. Vincent De Paul. Raised in poverty, he desired a brilliant career & worldly fame. God had other plans. He suffered greatly in young adulthood – He was kidnapped and enslaved by the Moslems for three years… After returning to France he was falsely accused of a major theft. After his exoneration he suffered a profound dark night of the soul. God was preparing him to suffer with the poorest of the poor.

His holiness was based on his deep friendship with Jesus Christ. He found Christ among the poor. He said “Love the poor and you will always love Jesus Christ for you will find him among the poor.”

Today he has achieved the ambitions of his youth… he had a brilliant career of helping the poor, founding two religious communities and his fame is known the world over and he is among the greatest in Heaven!

Father Broom reminds us that Christ says that He is the light of the World…. but we must be the light of the world also. Our light must be light reflected from Jesus Christ… just as the Moon only reflects the light of the Sun.

If we are to reflect His light we must be open to “hear” Him and to Listen to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. We must recognize those inspirations and act on them quickly.

CALL OF MATTHEW! HE LEFT ALL BUT RECEIVED FAR MORE!

Father Broom preaches on the Feast Day of St. Matthew, September 21. Matthew the rich tax collector left everything to follow Christ.

Because of his YES to the call, he became one of the original Apostles, an Evangelist, a Missionary, and a Martyr! But most of all he received the gift a deep friendship with Jesus Christ – a friendship that will last forever and ever and ever in Heaven!

Let us pray to receive the virtue of magnanimity – that is generosity with great courage!
