Father Broom preaches on the great St. Joseph. This man was entrusted by God the Father to protect and provide for Mary, the Mother of God, and her son, Jesus Christ, the God-Man. What a responsibility! When God calls us to great works, he provides all the graces we need. How grace filled Joseph must have been.

St. Joseph is the universal patron.. he can help with all of our prayer intentions. St. Teresa of Avila, who had a deep devotion to him, said that not only did he answer all of her requests but that he did it quickly. Other saints might answer, she said, but they took their time. But the response of St. Joseph was immediate.

St. Joseph is the patron of a holy and happy death since he died in the arms of Mary and Jesus. That is exactly where we all want to die.

Father Broom gives a dynamic presentation to about 40 boys in Confirmation Two (mostly ninth graders). In this Year of faith the Holy Father has told us that we must come to know who Jesus is. Father explains to the students who Jesus Christ is.

But he reminds them that it is more than knowing about someone who lived 2,000 years ago but about meeting and knowing, really knowing, that person today, especially in Holy Mass.

If we meet Him today in Mass with open arms and an open heart, this will be the happiest day of our lives. And this will be the best Christmas because we will know and love the One born that day.

If we follow Fr. Broom’s advice we will have God at the center of our family and we ill grow in love and humility…and those qualities are the pathway to Heaven.

Father Broom preaches on the Gospel for Monday of the Second Week of Advent: Luke 5:17-26. This is the healing of the paralytic. Father emphasizes the love, faithfulness, diligence, faith, effort, sacrifice, tenacity and creativity of the friends of the paralytic.

They loved their friend and knew he needed Jesus… and nothing was gong to stop them from accomplishing their goal. What faith and determination!

Father Broom invites us to beg for the grace to have that degree of faith, love and tenacity to bring our family and friends to the greatest healer… the healer of both body and soul, Our Lord Jesus Christ.
