Un tema importante, sobre todo para los padres con hijos pequeños que tienen que nadar en contra de la corriente relativista y secular, según la cual, para ser libres los hijos deben “escoger” la fe que quieren profesar sin que los padres le transmitan sus propias creencias.
La obligación primaria de los padres hacia los hijos es la de proveerles el camino de salvación para sus almas inmortales. Por ello es bueno tener en cuenta, al menos, 5 prácticas, 5 decisiones, fundamentales para llevar a los hijos al cielo.
La primera de todos es bautizar a los niños lo más pronto posible. Desde el embarazo los buenos padres han de hacer todo lo necesario para bautizar a sus hijos rápidamente. Pláticas pre-bautismales, papeles, padrinos… todo debe estar listo para cuando nazca el bebé. Retrasar la entrada del nuevo miembro a la Iglesia es algo que debería evitarse.
La segunda es orar inmediatamente, en edades tempranas. El niño es una especie de esponja que absorbe agua. El agua puede ser sucia (por ejemplo, la vulgaridad de la televisión) o limpia, como son las oraciones a la Virgen, al ángel de la Guarda, a Dios… ¿Por qué no llenar los labios y el corazón del niño con oraciones bellas en lugar de llenarlo de basura?
La tercera vía para enganchar a los hijos en la fe es el ofrecimiento. Hay que invitar a los hijos a ofrecer los sufrimientos diarios y las cruces que Dios envía tanto a los adultos como a los pequeños. Muchos sufrimientos se desperdician porque no le son ofrecidos a Dios. Podemos enseñar incluso a los muy pequeños a ofrecer un dolor de cabeza, un dolor de muelas, …
El cuarto camino viene de la frase de Jesús de amarnos unos a otros como Él nos amó. Es el más grande de los mandamientos del Señor, el mandamiento del amor. Los padres deben amar a sus hijos por igual, aunque el demonio esté listo para sembrar la semilla de la discordia, la confusión, los celos, la envidia, … Los padres deben hacer superar el complejo de Caín entre sus hijos.
Finalmente, el camino de la presencia real de Cristo en la Misa, en la Consagración, en la Comunión y en la Iglesia. ¿Cómo? Varias sugerencias:
—Trabajando los padres en el crecimiento de la fe de que Jesús está presente en la Eucaristía (nadie da lo que no tiene)
—Explicando al niño que el acontecimiento más importante de toda la semana es ir a la Misa dominical, pero también participar en ella de manera consciente, total y activa
–Haciendo reverencia, pues el mundo actual ha perdido el sentido de lo sagrado en los templos. Los padres deben enseñar a sus hijos que el templo es la casa de Dios. Además, la presencia de Jesús en el Sagrado Sacramento tiene que estar acompañada del silencio (que fortalece tanto la oración como la reverencia)
–Hacer las genuflexiones propias –frente a Jesús—que se hacen frente a los reyes y a los príncipes de este mundo. Se trata del Señor de los Señores y del Rey de Reyes. Una rodilla en tierra, las manos en el pecho, así de simple
–Realizar constantes visitas a Jesús sacramentado. Los padres deben hacerse el hábito de parar en su día para visitar a Jesús en el tabernáculo. Incluso si las visitas son de cinco minutos, mostrar a los hijos que se hace por amor al Señor.
