Father Broom talks about the meaning of the word “love”. C.S. Lewis wrote a famous book entitled The Four Loves about the different kinds of love. There is the love of brothers, there is erotic love, there is love for parent or child and there is sacrificial love that is called agape.

Agape is the love Christ has for us. He gave his life for each of us so that we could have life and life most abundantly.

Father Broom preaches on the Gospel Mark 4:26-34. The Parable of the tiny Mustard Seed that grows into a mighty bush. We received the tiny seed of Faith at our Baptism. Our parents tended that seed and made it grow. Now it is our job to nurture our faith and to grow it. With the proper care, it will blossom like the well cared for grapefruit seedling pictured here.

Brilliant Mind! Mystical Soul! St. Thomas Aquinas

Father Broom talks to the Friday evening Perseverance Group about the Angelic Doctor, St. Thomas Aquinas. He was the greatest philosopher and theologian in the Church. He was a brilliant author and speaker. He grasped the most sublime truths about God, the Sacraments, and the human soul.

Yet he attributed his brilliant insights not to his fervent study but to the time he spent in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. Near the end of his life, he had a vision of Christ. The Lord told him to ask for any gift and he would give it to Thomas. His request? Only this: “Lord, give me the grace to love you more and more each day.”
