Father Ed Broom speaks about one of the most well known passages in the Letters of St. Paul – 1 Corinthians 12:31 to 13:13. What is love is the topic. Love is kind….. love is patient… it does not seek its own interests etc.

The greatest love that St. Paul is speaking of – Agape – is sacrificial love. It is the love that Christ has for each of us…. it is how we are to love one another as He loved us. He loved us even to His Passion and Death, Death on the Holy Cross.

Father Broom talks about the meaning of the word “love”. C.S. Lewis wrote a famous book entitled The Four Loves about the different kinds of love. There is the love of brothers, there is erotic love, there is love for parent or child and there is sacrificial love that is called agape.

Agape is the love Christ has for us. He gave his life for each of us so that we could have life and life most abundantly.

Father Broom preaches on the Gospel Mark 4:26-34. The Parable of the tiny Mustard Seed that grows into a mighty bush. We received the tiny seed of Faith at our Baptism. Our parents tended that seed and made it grow. Now it is our job to nurture our faith and to grow it. With the proper care, it will blossom like the well cared for grapefruit seedling pictured here.
