Psalm 23 and John Chapter 10

“I am the Good Shepherd. I know my sheep and they know me”

Father Broom speaks to parish lay leaders on the qualities of being good shepherds to their sheep. A good shepherd knows his sheep by name. He feeds his sheep. He protects his sheep from the wolves that are set on destroying the sheep. A good shepherd loves his sheep, prays for them amd leads by example.

To be a good shepherd to the sheep we must be good sheep ourselves: good sheep to Jesus Christ – the Good Shepherd – good sheep to our Holy Father, Shepherd of the Church, and good sheep to our priests who lead us to safe pastures of heavenly salvation.

Father Ed Broom OMV is a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary and is Associate Pastor at St. Peter Chanel Church in Hawaiian Gardens California.
