Gospel Passage: Mark 11: 11-26 The fig tree with no fruit.
Jesus curses the fig tree for not producing fruit – even though it isn’t fig season. Father Broom in his homily on June 1,2012 draws a parallel between us and the fig tree. We are never to be out of season in our spiritual life. We must bear fruit year round! We have a mission to always give greater honor and glory to God and work for the Salvation of souls. That means we are generous with all of our talents in all seasons.

Father Ed Broom, OMV, is Associate Pastor of St. Peter Chanel Church in Hawaiian Gardens, California. He is a member of the Oblates of the Virgin Mary and was ordained by Saint John Paul II on May 25, 1986. Fr Ed’s teaches Catholic Ignatian Marian Spirituality through articles, podcasts, a radio show, retreats and spiritual direction.
