UN AMIGO DEL CAMINO, SAN RAFAEL

Cada 29 de septiembre, la Iglesia celebra a tres de los santos arcángeles: Miguel, Gabriel y Rafael. Luego, el 2 de octubre, celebra la Fiesta de los Angeles Guardianes.

AGRADECIMIENTO Y DEVOCION. Debemos apreciar y reconocer la existencia, y presencia, las oraciones y el poder de los ángeles de Dios. Los ángeles fieles, que están en el cielo, ejercen un gran poder aquí en la tierra. ¿Cuantas veces no nos han librado de peligros físicos y morales? Sólo Dios sabe, ¡y sólo sabremos al final de los tiempos cuando Dios lo revela a toda su creación!

ARCÁNGEL RAFAEL. El punto focal de este breve ensayo es la persona del ARCANGEL RAFAEL. Nuestro deseo es que todos descubran su presencia del arcángel Rafael, su poder y sus oraciones e intercesión.

EL LIBRO DE TOBIT. Les exhortamos a que lean la literatura de la sabiduría del Antiguo Testamento – El Libro de Tobit. Encontramos en esta corta obra maestra espiritual la poderosa presencial del Arcángel Rafael. No cabe la menor duda, quien lo lea, se enamorará del Arcángel Rafael y se confiará a su cuidado.

EL PODER DE INTERCESIÓN DE RAFAEL. ¿Quién no ha invocado a San Antonio para encontrar algo perdido; y casi si falta lo ha recuperado? Uno de los carismas de San Antonio es encontrar cosas perdidas. En el caso del arcángel Rafael, experimentamos su patrocinio en muchas cosas. De hecho, si pedimos con fe, fervor y confianza, las gracias y bendiciones descenderán como lluvia sobre nosotros. Eso lo veremos con deslumbrante claridad después de leer el Libro de Tobías.

PATRON DE LOS VIAJEROS. El arcángel Rafael es patrón de los viajeros; las Sagradas Escrituras nos narran cómo le ayudó al joven Tobit a llegar con seguridad a su destino; a la casa de Sara, su futura esposa. Pidamos al buen arcángel – san Rafael – ¡que nos acompañe en nuestro camino al cielo!

PATRON DE LOS AMIGOS. San Rafael no sólo acompaño al joven Tobit, sino que formó una estrecha y dinámica amistad con él. Todos necesitamos amigos! Porque no pedir a San Rafael que sea uno de tus amigos más íntimos. Quizás seamos nosotros los que le fallemos, pero él no nos fallará; él en todo momento y circunstancia está presto para ayudarnos.

PATRON DE LOS NOVIAZGOS Y FUTUROS ESPOSOS. En un mundo donde la tasa de divorcios incrementa por diversas razones, invoquemos al arcángel Rafael, patrón noviazgos cristianos sólidos. Fue Rafael quien unió a Tobit con Sarah su futura esposa. La elección del futuro esposo(a) es una de las decisiones más importantes que la persona hará. San Rafael puede ayudar para que la decisión que tomemos sea la correcta, ya que es la elección más importante de la vida!

PATRON DE LOS MATRIMONIOS. Y por supuesto, un sano y santo cortejo eventualmente lleva al matrimonio y a la familia. San Rafael fue enviado por Dios a Tobías para que eligiera la esposa adecuada y para que formara una familia santa que tuviera temor de Dios. Oremos al arcángel Rafael por los jóvenes que son llamados a la vocación matrimonial, para que tomen la decisión correcta y se casen con la persona según la voluntad de Dios, hasta que la muerte los separe.

PATRON DE LA PUREZA. Sara había perdido sucesivamente siete maridos en la noche de bodas, quizás porque se habían unido a Sara solo por motivos lujuriosos y no por amor. Dios se apiada de ella y la ayuda a través del angel Rafael y Tobit no muere como los otros siete. Que por intercesión del arcángel Rafael, podamos vivir la bienaventuranza: “Dichosos los puros de corazón que ellos verán a Dios.” (Mt 5,8)

PATRON DE LOS BUENOS ENCUENTROS.   Siempre que hay un encuentro importante en el Libro de Tobías, encuentro realizado por Rafael, ¡es un encuentro feliz! ¡Qué importante es esto! Antes de una cita o un encuentro con alguien, invitemos a san Rafael a esta reunión. El allanará el camino para que el encuentro se feliz y fructífero.

DOCTOR ANGELICO. En nombre – Rafael – es nombre hebreo que significa – Medicina de Dios o Dios sana. Cuando estemos pasando por problemas de salud, ¿por qué no invocar a san Rafael e implorar su intercesión? Antes de acudir al médico, o a una consulta, antes de una intervención quirúrgica, o reponiéndonos después de alguna enfermedad, ¡por qué no invocar al gran san Rafael! ¡Dios nos sanará por su intercesión!

PATRON DE LA VISTA.   Al padre del joven Tobit le había caído excremento de aves sobre sus ojos, causándole una ceguera total. El ángel Rafael le da el remedio: le pide que aplique la hiel del pez sobre sus ojos del anciano Tobit. Fue la aplicación de este remedio, las escamas caen de los ojos y la vista del anciano es restaurada. Confiemos nuestros ojos a Rafael; roguemos a Dios que los utilicemos solo para glorificar a Dios y para contemplar la belleza de su creación.

PATRON DE ORACIONES DE ALABANZA A DIOS PADRE Y ACCION DE GRACIAS. Seguimos con la bella y pintoresca historia de la familia de Tobit, al lograrse la sanación de Tobías, la liberación de Sara y su casamiento, la familia agradecida por lo que el ángel había hecho, lo quiere alabar. Pero san Rafael en su humildad dirije todo honor y toda gloria a Dios. Pidamos a este gran ángel que nos alcance una profunda vida de oración y que nos enseñe a alabar y dar gracias a Dios, no solo con los labios, sino con nuestras vidas!

PATRON DE LA ALEGRIA. La misión de san Rafael es amar, servir y dar gloria a Dios! ¡Todo su ser canta la gloria de Dios! Por interseción del arcángel Rafael, nuestras tristezas y luchas se convertirán en victorias. Esta realidad nos la narra la Sagrada Escritura, vemos la sanación del anciano Tobías y la unión basada en un amor verdadero de la joven pareja. En el dolor, invoquemos al buen arcángel Rafael y nuestros pesares se convertirán en gozo! Que Nuestra Señora, Reina de los Angeles, y causa de nuestra alegría, ruega por nosotros!


El padre Ed Broom, OMV (Oblato de la Virgen María), conocido también como Padre Escobita, fue ordenado sacerdote por san Juan Pablo II en 1986. Es asistente del párroco en la Iglesia de San Pedro Chanel en Hawaiian Gardens (California). Allí imparte retiros, da los Ejercicios Espirituales de San Ignacio de Loyola, organiza y dirige su propio programa de radio y televisión en Guadalupe Radio –Barriendo Conciencias, y da un curso de preparación a los fieles en diversas parroquias de la archidiócesis de Los Ángeles para la Consagración total a Jesús mediante María.
