LA VERDAD OS HARÁ LIBRES

El venerable arzobispo Fulton J.
Sheen expresó que los tres deseos fundamentales del corazón humano son:
conocer, amar y vivir.   Según santo Tomás de Aquino, el objeto de la
mente es «la verdad»; el objeto de la voluntad/corazón es «el
amor»; el objeto de la vida es «la Bienaventuranza» — felicidad
con Dios para siempre, la plenitud de la vida en el cielo.
Hoy muchos afirman que no existe tal
cosa como la verdad absoluta.  El Papa Benedicto XVI llama a este sistema filosófico falso la «dictadura del relativismo moral».  
Esta filosofía se adhiere a la idea de que la verdad no es absoluta sino cambia,
varía y oscila según el tiempo histórico, las costumbres sociales y estado
interior subjetivo del alma de la persona.
La Iglesia Católica discrepa
vehementemente con el  «Relativismo
Moral».  La Verdad absoluta existe.
 ¿Donde puede encontrarse?  No tanto
donde se encuentra, sino más bien ¿»en quien» se encuentra?  
Esa persona es Jesucristo quien dijo: «Yo soy el Camino, la VERDAD y la
Vida.»
Antes de ascender al cielo, Jesús
dijo que estaría con nosotros siempre, hasta el fin de los tiempos.   Si Él
ascendió al cielo ¿entonces dónde está (Jesús) y dónde se encuentra la Verdad?
 Acertadamente—en la Iglesia Católica.

Jesús es la Cabeza invisible de la
Iglesia y reina en el cielo, pero antes de dejar la tierra en Su cuerpo
glorioso, nos dio una cabeza visible y es la persona del Santo Padre, el Papa.  Jesús dijo: «Tú eres Petros/Piedra y sobre Tí edificaré mi Iglesia y las puertas del infierno no prevalecerán contra ella.  Lo que ates en la tierra será atado en los cielos y lo que desates en la tierra quedará desatado en el cielo». (Mt 17)   Después de la Resurrección, la pesca milagrosa en el lago de Galilea, y después que Jesús alimentó a los Apóstoles con un desayuno, Jesús fue a caminar con Pedro.

En el transcurso de este paseo por
la orilla del lago de Galilea Jesús le preguntó a Pedro tres veces si él
verdaderamente le amaba y Pedro respondió de forma afirmativa.  Jesús mandó a Pedro que cuidará de sus
ovejas.  Una vez más Jesús afirma el papel de Pedro como Su sucesor cuando
Jesús ascendiera a los cielos.

San Pedro fue el primer Papa de los
265 que le seguirían.   El Papa es el sucesor de Cristo, el Santo Padre,
el Sumo Pontífice (Constructor de puentes), el «Dulce Vicario de Cristo en
la tierra» (Santa Catalina de Siena).   Él es la cabeza visible del
Cuerpo Místico de Cristo, la Iglesia.

San Juan Bosco tuvo muchos
sueños.  Probablemente el más famoso de
todos fue el de la nave en medio de una tormenta de mar.  La nave está
rodeada de naves enemigas listas para atacarla y hundirla.  El capitán está en el timón de la nave, con
sus ojos fijos hacia la distancia.  De repente, dos grandes pilares surgen
en medio del mar tempestuoso, uno de ellos más alto que el otro.

En la parte superior del pilar más
pequeño se ve a María, bajo el título de Nuestra Señora Auxiliadora.  Con
las manos juntas y con el mayor gesto de reverencia está contemplando en
adoración el otro pilar sobre el cual está entronizado el Santísimo Sacramento
del Altar, el Cuerpo, Sangre, Alma y Divinidad de Jesucristo.
El capitán dirige la nave entre los
dos pilares, lo ancla y la nave y su tripulación están a salvo y llegan al
puerto. Nosotros somos los que estamos en medio del mar, un mar lleno de tentaciones del diablo, la carne y el mundo. Siempre estamos en peligro de hundirnos y ahogarnos.

LA BARCA.  Debemos permanecer en la nave, la barca de Pedro, la Iglesia Católica.  Este es nuestro refugio seguro como leemos que era el arca de Noé en el libro de Génesis. La Iglesia ha pasado por momentos difíciles en sus 2000 años de existencia, pero está todavía a flote. La clave es permanecer en la nave, permanecer cerca de Jesús en la persona del Santo Padre (el Papa), y no centrarse tanto en los problemas sino mantener fija la mirada en quienes nos pueden ayudar a resolver todos nuestros problemas — Jesús y María.

¡LA VERDAD!  ¿Cómo podemos
saber la verdad?  Fácil.  La verdad
está en la persona de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo, y su voz y su
voluntad se manifiestan claramente a través de las enseñanzas del Papa.
Por lo tanto, cuando el Santo Padre
enseña, todo lo que se refiere a la fe, doctrina, y moral, él no puede errar;
es decir, él es infalible.  Entonces es
que realmente escuchamos la voz de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. Conocer la verdadera fuente y quien expresa la Verdad, nos debe llenar de inmensa paz, tranquilidad y seguridad.   Jesús dijo «la Verdad os hará libres.»   El diablo es el padre de la mentira, pero Jesús es la Verdad Encarnada.
¿Qué deber y obligación tenemos
hacia la persona del Santo Padre, el Papa?  
1. ORAR POR EL SANTO PADRE.   Él es
nuestro Padre espiritual, nombrado por Jesús mismo para conducirnos a nosotros
las ovejas de su rebaño, a la eterna pradera celestial.  ¿Por qué no
asistir a Misa, y unirse en oración al sacerdote que ora por el Papa en cada
Misa celebrada en todo el mundo y cuando esté en Misa ofrezca su Comunión por
el Papa.
2. LEA LAS ENSEÑANZAS DEL PAPA.
 Encíclicas, Cartas Apostólicas, Exhortaciones Apostólicas, discursos, El
Catecismo, discursos hechos durante las visitas Papales.  El sitio de internet «Zenit.com» es
el sitio oficial del Vaticano en la que puede tener acceso fácil y rápido a
todas las enseñanzas del Vicario de Cristo.   
3. DEFIENDA AL SANTO PADRE.  Cuando se
ataque injustamente al Papa— hoy es más común que nunca — propóngase defender
al Papa.  Si alguien estuviese atacando a su madre o a su padre, me
imagino que no dudaría en defender a las personas que más ama.

4. UN RETRATO DEL SANTO PADRE.   En mi
habitación, así como en mi confesionario tengo en lugar prominente un cuadro
del beato Papa Juan Pablo II.  Lo hago por dos razones.  Primeramente, por la sencilla razón que amo a
todos los Papas, pero especialmente a él quien me ordenó sacerdote y fue Papa
por 26 años de mi vida.  Número dos, para
inculcar en la gente conocimiento y respeto por el Papa.

5. AMAR AL SANTO PADRE.  Jesús ama al
Papa; María ama al Papa; los ángeles y los santos aman al Papa.  ¿Por qué
no seguir los pasos de los santos y Dios mismo y cultivar una actitud tierna y
cariñosa de devoción filial al Papa?   ¡Viva Jesús!  ¡Viva Mará!
 ¡Viva el Papa!
