LA SEÑAL DE LA CRUZ ¡SIMBOLO DE SALVACION!

 
Los rayos rojos y
blancos que emanan del Corazón de Jesús son símbolo del amor misericordioso de
Dios.  El cielo azul y la estrella de la mañana son símbolos del manto de
protección de María y de su deseo de guiarnos con seguridad al puerto de
salvación.  Un símbolo es un signo físico y tangible de una realidad espiritual profunda e invisible. 





Uno de los símbolos más claros del Catolicismo es la
señal de la cruz:  “En el nombre del
Padre, y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.” 
Amén.   Con qué frecuencia se realiza
este gesto pero a la vez se convierte en un gesto meramente mecánico y
superficial, ¡casi perdiendo su significado real!   ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que usted reflexionó sobre el significado profundo de la señal de la Cruz?  ¡Quizás nunca!   

Tal
vez nadie le ha explicado lo que es la señal de la cruz.  ¡La religiosidad sin explicación catequética
se degenera a superstición.  Veamos estos ejemplos: Los hipis
llevan puesto el rosario, adivinos psíquicos usan humo e incienso, conductores
de autobús colocando imágenes de María y al lado fotografías indecentes,
todo esto demuestra a una religiosidad sin educación o más bien, ¡superstición!








La señal de la cruz se hace con la mano derecha, palma
completamente abierta, luego la mano a la frente, hasta el pecho y cruzando el
hombro izquierdo, un amplio recorrido hasta el hombro derecho y luego se juntan las manos.  Las palabras que acompañan este gesto son:  “En el nombre del Padre, del
Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.”  Amén.





Hay dos verdades espirituales básicas expresadas en la
señal de la cruz.  La primera es la
profesión del misterio más profundo de la fe Católica – ¡la
SANTÍSIMA TRINIDAD!  La señal menciona a
las tres Personas de la Santísima Trinidad – el Padre, quien es el Creador, el
Hijo, quien es el Salvador y Redentor, nuestro Señor Jesucristo, y el Espíritu
Santo, quien es el Santificador.








Cada vez que se hace la señal de la cruz, debemos recordar nuestro bautismo, el momento cuando cuando nos
convertimos en hijos de Dios, hermanos de Jesucristo, y amigos íntimos del
Espíritu Santo – ¡templos de la Santísima Trinidad!  Como el Papa San León Magno observó con
profunda reverencia – “¡Cristianos reconozcan su dignidad!”





Además, al hacer señal de la cruz debemos traer a la mente el amor de Jesús por toda la humanidad, pero en particular por tí y por mí.  ¡La cruz!   ¡Se hace la señal sobre el cuerpo!  ¡Jesús se sometió voluntariamente a su
agonía, al punto de derramar cada gota de su Sangre Preciosa para tú salvación
y la mía!  Cada vez que hacemos la señal
de la cruz debemos dar gracias a Dios por el sacrificio de Jesús, por su oblación  total y por el don de ser hijos de Dios.  ¡Nosotros no fuimos redimidos con oro ni plata,
ni la sangre de animales sino por la Sangre del Cordero de Dios que quita el
pecado del mundo!




 





Al persignarnos, recordemos también el
misterio de la Santísima Trinidad y el Viernes Santo –  ¡la muerte de Jesús en la cruz, y la efusión
de su Preciosísima Sangre!  ¡San Ignacio
de Loyola insistemente nos recuerda que Jesús sufrió su dolorosa pasión por MI!



 



¿Cuándo, entonces, debemos hacer la Señal de la
Cruz?  En cualquier momento.  En cualquier lugar.  Sin embargo, hay momentos importantes
específicos en que deberíamos persignarnos. 





1.  ¡AL DESPERTAR!   El primer gesto que debemos hacer al despertar es
la señal de la cruz y luego nuestra ofrenda de la mañana.  








2.  ¡AL TOMAR LOS ALIMENTOS!  Las alimentos se deben bendecir.  Debemos dar gracias a Dios por los alimentos que vamos a recibir, ¡y por supuesto, la bendición de la comida siempre
debe de ser precedida por la señal de la cruz!





3.  ¡PADRES BENDIGAN A SUS HIJOS!  Los padres deben formar el buen hábito de
bendecir a sus hijos, y si es posible con agua bendita.  ¿Cuándo?   Antes de llevarlos a la escuela o mandarlos a la cama.  Los padres son los principales educadores de
sus hijos, y por tal,  ¡pueden y deben bendecir a sus hijos!








4.  ¡EL ROSARIO!  Las cuentas del Rosario, son precedidas por la cruz, ¡esta ponderosa oración
Mariana comienza con la señal de la cruz y debe finalizar con la señal de la
cruz! 




4. ¡TENTACIONES!  Desde que nacemos hasta el día de nuestra muerte, la vida es un campo de batalla.  En una ocasión una
monja anciana le dijo a Santa Faustina, ¡la vejez no excusa a nadie de la
batalla!  Hasta nuestro último aliento,
somos soldados del ejército de Cristo.  Si recurrimos con prontitud a la intercesión de la
Santísima Virgen María con una oracion ferviente y la señal de la cruz, podemos salir victoriosos de los ataques del diablo.  Sucedió una vez que un enemigo de San Benito
intentó envenenarlo, ofreciéndole una taza con veneno. 
El Santo bendijo la taza y la taza estalló en pedazos, ¡salvándolo de envenenamiento!    






 6.  ¡AL VIAJAR!  
Cuando salga siempre invite a Jesús, María, José y al Arcángel san Rafael. ¡Las oraciones de los viajeros deben comenzar con la Señal de la
cruz!  










   7.EXORCISMOS.  Por supuesto un exorcismo formal
incluye oraciones a san José, san Miguel arcángel, san Benito, la Santísima
Virgen María, el Santo Nombre de Jesús y repetidas veces la ¡SEÑAL DE LA
CRUZ!  ¡Un pánico mortal se apodera del diablo cuando se invoca a la Santísima Trinidad en la Señal de la
Cruz!





8.  ¡LA ORACIÓN EN CUALQUIER MOMENTO!  No hace
falta decirlo, todas las oraciones deben comenzar con la Señal de la Cruz.  Esto significa que en cualquier momento,
cualquier lugar y cualquier circunstancia podemos hacer la senal de la cruz. 
¡Recuerde siempre este símbolo Católico!  








9.  ¡LA SANTA MISA!  En el contexto de la Santa Misa, ¡con frecuencia se utiliza la señal de
la cruz!  Mencionaremos solo algunos – el saludo es Trinitario con la
señal de la cruz,  antes de escuchar la
proclamación del Santo Evangelio, el sacerdote y los fieles hacen la señal de la cruz con el
dedo pulgar, primero en la frente, luego los labios y después el corazón.  ¿Por qué?  Para que la Palabra de Dios esté en nuestras
mentes, nuestros labios, y especialmente en nuestro corazón y vividos al máximo con
frutos de santidad.  ¡Antes de la consagración, el sacerdote bendice el pan y el vino con la señal de la
cruz.  Por ultimo, al final de la Misa, ¡la despedida concluye con la bendición de la Santísima Trinidad!  





10.¡MISA FUNEBRE!  Por ultimo, ¡al dejar este mundo y viajar al
siguiente, el cuerpo se bendice con agua bendita y con el signo del a cruz!








En conclusión, con qué facilidad podemos caer en una
religiosidad mecánica, olvidándonos del significado profundo detrás de las acciones sagradas.  La próxima vez que hagamos la señal de la Cruz,
recordemos que por el Bautismo hemos sido transformado en un ícono vivo de la
Santísima Trinidad y que hemos sido redimidos por la Sangre que Jesús derramó en la Santa Cruz.  “En el Nombre
del Padre, y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.” 
Amén.
