CONSEJOS PARA LA ORACIÓN

 
“La oración es elevar el corazón
y la mente hacia Dios.” (San Juan Damascene) La oración es escuchar a Dios,
hablar con Dios y amar a Dios. El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica cita a Santa
Teresita de Lisieux “Para mi la oración es elevar el corazón, es una simple mirada
hacia el cielo, es un grito de reconocimiento y de amor abrazando las pruebas y
las alegrías.” (CIC # 2558).  San Alfonso
afirmo’ vigorosamente la importancia de la oración con estas palabras punzantes
“Quien reza bien será salvado, quien no ora será condenado.”  

La oración es cuestión de vida o
muerte, salvación o condenación.  San Agustín
nos edifica con estas sencillas pero profundas 
palabras, “¡ Quien ora bien, vive bien, quien vive bien muere bien,
quien muere bien, todo está bien!”  Bien,
hay que animarnos mutuamente para que tomemos la oración seriamente y hagamos
uso de estos 10 consejos y sugerencias sobre cómo establecer una vida de oración
fuerte, dinámica y floreciente, ¡consciente de que nuestra salvación y la salvación
de muchas otras almas quien dependen de ello!  

 
 
1.  ¡PEDIR LA GRACIA!   San Agustín dice que todos somos mendigos
ante Dios.  San Pablo en su carta a los
Romanos dice que realmente no sabemos cómo rezar. ¡Buenas noticias!  El Espíritu Santo puede interceder por
nosotros con gemidos inefables, por lo que podemos decir, “Abba, Padre.”  (Romanos 8).  
Pide y ruega al Espíritu Santo que te de el don de la oración y que
realmente tengas ese deseo de orar.   Hay
que pedir a Jesús, “¡Señor enséñanos a rezar!” 
Esto fue lo que los Apóstoles le pidieron a Jesús, y fue entonces que Jesús
les enseñó el Padre Nuestro.  ¡También a
María! María quiere enseñarnos a
rezar.  En sus apariciones siempre nos
está exhortando a que recemos, especialmente el Santísimo Rosario.  
2.  LIMPIAR
EL CRISTAL.  A menudo no podemos rezar
bien porque nuestra vida, nuestra mente y nuestra conciencia  no está bien con Dios.  Es decir, hemos dañado nuestra amistad con Jesús  o quizás completamente roto nuestra amistad
con Él.  ¡Por qué no hacer una buena
confesión, limpiar el cristal, limpiar la conciencia, restaurar l’amistad con
el Señor y de esta forma podremos hablar más íntimamente con el Señor en la
oración!

TIEMPO.  La oración nos exige mucho, simple y
sencillamente debemos darle a Dios lugar para que Él pueda actuar en nuestra
vida.  Todos tenemos hábitos – de comer,
limpieza, trabajo y muchos más.  La
oración es el mejor hábito que podemos formar. 
¡Dale tiempo a Señor!  Y si es
posible, dar al Señor los primeros frutos como Abel.  Encuentra tiempo para la oración lo más
temprano que sea posible.  En el primer
capítulo del Evangelio de San Marcos leemos que Jesús se levantaba  muy de mañana y estaba absorto en
oración.  ¡La oración a tempranas horas de
la mañana,  es la “Hora de Poder” te dará
luz, ánimo y fortaleza durante el transcurso del día!  !Inténtalo, no te arrepentirás!

EL LUGAR.   Claro que se puede rezar en cualquier momento, en cualquier lugar, con las palabras que desees o simplemente rezar con el corazón.  Sin embargo, es altamente recomendable que se fije un lugar y una hora para rezar.  Claro, el mejor lugar de rezar es en la Silenciosa Presencia del Santísimo Sacramento, porque Jesús está verdaderamente presente allí.  Si esto no es posible debido a circunstancias de familia, entonces encuentra un lugar de  silencioso a solas en donde no habrá interrupciones.  Tal vez en el silencio de tu habitación.  Jesús dice que vayas a tu habitación y que reces.  Quizás usted puede hacer un pequeño santuario en su hogar y ahí  rezar – con una figura, imagen de Jesús y María, veladora e incienso.  Es buena idea crear un ambiente que  fomenta la oración.  ¡Fija la hora y el lugar!

¡MATERIAL O
TEXTO QUE  AYUDA REZAR! La gran Santa Teresa de Avila, “Doctora de
la oración” dijo que ella nunca iba a su oración sin llevar algún libro que le
ayudará a entrar en oración.  ¡Deberíamos
hacer lo mismo!  Algunas sugerencias.  Claro que la mejor fuente de oración es la
Biblia, la palabra de Dios;  los
Evangelios son el centro y corazón de la Biblia, la palabra de Dios.  Debemos entrar en la oración con una actitud
de apertura y generosidad con estas palabras: 
“Habla Señor, que tu siervo escucha…” 
Estas fueron las palabras de Samuel quien escuchó la palabra de Dios en
el templo.  ¡También trae un libro de
oración!  Nunca subestimes el uso de la
oración vocal.  El gran San Antonio
Claret comentó que recibió muchas gracias por rezar oraciones vocales.  ¿Qué es la oración vocal?  Es la oración que recitamos con
palabras,  que pensamos en la  mente, que saboreamos en el corazón.  Las oraciones vocales tradicionales son:  el Padre Nuestro,  Ave María, Gloria, la oración a nuestro ángel
de la guarda, Acto de Fe, Esperanza y Caridad, Acto de Contrición y El
Credo.  Igualmente, un buen libro de
oración incluye oraciones a los santos, novenas, preparación para fiestas
importantes, oraciones de preparación antes de Misa, acción de gracias después
de Misa y mucho más.  Finalmente lleve
consigo el librito de oración escrito por San Alfonso sobre “Visitas al
Santísimo Sacramento.”  También hay otro
libro que titula “15 minútos”, 15 minútos que uno puede pasar con Jesús en el
Sagrario.  Ven preparado a tu oración con
el Señor.  En este tiempo de oración, si
Dios te inspira a un diálogo espontáneo, un diálogo entre dos amigos o dos
enamorados, deja el libro a un lado y simplemente habla con Él. 
IMAGENES. Haz uso adecuado de imágenes para hablar con Dios, María, los ángeles y
los santos.  La Iglesia Católica
altamente anima el uso de sacramentales, entre las que se destacan pinturas de
Jesús, María, los Ángeles y los Santos o estatuas representándolos.  Nosotros obviamente no los adoramos pero sí
damos honor a quien representan.  La
familia es la “Iglesia Doméstica.”  ¡Cada
familia debería tener su propio pequeño santuario, lugar de oración donde todos
reconocen que es el lugar designado para encontrarse con el Señor!
LECTURA
SOBRE LA ORACIÓN:  Santa Teresa de Ávila
no permitía entrar al convento a aquella mujer que no supiera leer.  Esto no fue discriminación, sino
sabiduría.  ¿Por qué?   La santa estaba sumamente consciente  por experiencia propia que se podría aprender
mucho sobre la vida espiritual (particularmente sobre la oración) hacienda uso
de literatura sólida.  ¿Qué deberíamos
leer?  Vivimos hoy en la “Época Dorada de
Literatura.”  Sin embargo, nunca ha
habido tanta confusión al igual que tanta información y buena lectura
espiritual.  Algunas sugerencias de
lectura sobre la oración:   El Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica
(Cuarta Parte), Introducción a la Vida
Devota de San Francisco de Sales, La
Oración: La Llave a la Salvación de San Alfonso Ligori, y todas las obras
de Santa Teresa de Ávila que tratan sobre la oración, La Vida, Las Moradas, Camino de la Perfección.  Con los santos y las enseñanzas de la Iglesia
no hay peligro de equivocación.

DIRECCIÓN ESPIRITUAL.  Santa Faustina Kowalska insistió de buscar alguna dirección spiritual adecuada con el fin de avanzar en la vida espiritual, para crecer en la oración y en santidad de vida.   Conforme se asciende en la vida espiritual, el enemigo es más sutil en sus tentaciones.  Para lograr superar los obstáculos y dificultades en la vida de oración, se recomienda fuertemente recibir periódicamente dirección espiritual.  Santa Teresa de Ávila nunca hubiera perseverado en su reforma de la Orden Carmelita  si no hubiese sido por la competente dirección espiritual que recibió en medio de las tribulaciones e interferencias satánicas que ella vivió.  

RETIROS. Como en
cualquier cosa en la vida, para tener éxito se necesita tiempo, esfuerzo, buena
voluntad y perseverancia.  La oración no es
una operación natural sino más bien es trabajar y colaborar con Dios y su
gracia.  El tiempo, la buena voluntad y
esfuerzo constante son indispensables para el éxito en la oración.   Muchos son llamados a ascender los pináculos
y alturas de oración mística en la vida espiritual,  pero tristemente desisten cuando se
encuentran con obstáculos.   Santa Teresa
dice que debemos tener una determinada determinación de no dejar la oración.   ¡Se ha
demostrado que los Ejercicios Espirituales Ignacianos son de mucha eficacia –
Ya sea un mes entero con el Señor, o dos semanas, o el clásico retiro de 8 días,
si no es posible entonces el retiro de 4 días o tal vez sólo un fin de semana
en un retiro Ignaciano de 2 días.  La
espiritualidad Ignaciana se presta a la adaptación.  Los retiros pueden ser adaptados o
individualizarse a  la persona, el lugar,
nivel espiritual y cultura.  En los
últimos 500 años los retiros y espiritualidad Ignaciana han demostrado ser muy
eficaz en la formación de santos como: 
Ignacio, Francisco Xavier, Peter Canisius, Robert Bellarmine, Isaac
Joques and Jean Brebeuf, Peter Claver, Alberto Hurtado, Roque González,  John Berchmans y  Aloysius Gonzaga—sólo por nombrar unos pocos. 

MARIA Y EL ROSARIO.   Que hermosa
oración tan agradable al corazón de la Madre de Dios y tan altamente
recomendada por los santos, la Iglesia y los Papas.  En el rosario se combinan diversas formas de
oración- oración vocal, oración mental o meditación, contemplación y oración
afectiva que es la oración del corazón.  El
Papa Pablo VI se refirió al Rosario como el compendio de todo el Evangelio, es
decir, es un hermoso resumen del Evangelio, ¡la vida de nuestro Señor y
Salvador Jesucristo!  El emblema y el
lema de los Oblatos de la Virgen María es “Maria cogita, Maria invoca!” – que
significa, “¡Piensa en María e invoca a María!” 
Nunca puede haber equivocación porque María siempre nos dirige a Jesús,
recordemos las últimas palabras de María en el Evangelio en las Bodas de Caná,
“¡Hagan lo que Él les diga!”  No es hasta
que lleguemos al cielo que comprenderemos plenamente la presencia que María
tuvo en ayudarnos a evitar el pecado, ir hacia Jesús, sentir una dulzura interior,
y todo ello debido a su intercesión silenciosa, suave, constante y
poderosa.  ¡María, madre y maestra, ayúdanos
a valorar la importancia de profunda amistad con Jesús en la oración para que
Él sea nuestro tesoro por toda la eternidad!
