LA HUMILDAD: FUENTE DE LA VIDA ESPIRITUAL


Jesús pocas vez elogió a la gente, pero lo hace en dos circunstancias: Nataniel, que lo llama un Israelita sin engaño y Juan el Bautista, quien dice que es el más grande nacido de una mujer.  Una virtud extraordinaria,  que practicó a un grado cúspide Juan el Bautista, fue su humildad.



¿Qué es la humildad? Santa Teresa de Ávila dice que la humildad es VERDAD.  Humildad también podría definirse como el reconocimiento de todo lo bueno, que yo posiblemente puedo hacer proviene de Dios, que es el autor de todos los buenos regalos y todos los males que he hecho, provienen de mi propia maldad.

Escuchemos algunas de las palabras más profundas, pero humildes de San Juan Bautista!

  • Él debe aumentar, pero yo debo disminuir…
    Inclusive, yo no soy digno de desatar la correa de Sus sandalias…
  • Sólo soy una voz clamando en el desierto: preparen el camino para el Señor….
  • Cuando llegue el novio, el amigo del novio desaparece…
  • Tu Vienes a ser bautizado por mí; Yo debo de ser bautizado por Ti…
  • He aquí el cordero de Dios que quita los pecados del mundo… Y los discípulos de Juan lo dejaron para seguir a Jesús…

Todos estos pasajes bíblicos manifiestan una notable humildad del primo de Jesús y precursor.   San Ignacio de Loyola ofrece a sus ejercitantes una meditación de «Los 3 grados de humildad».  La primera es preferir la muerte, en lugar de pecado mortal; la segunda, preferir la muerte antes de un pecado venial deliberado; el tercer grado de humildad, es una disposición a sufrir humillaciones para imitar al señor más de cerca.   Dado que el camino real de la humildad, es a través de humillaciones, reflexionemos sobre algunas maneras en que el Señor nos puede ofrecer algunos «oportunidades de oro» para practicar la humildad y así crecer en humildad.   «Jesús Manso y humilde de corazón, has mi corazón como el tuyo».

1. FALTAS Y ERRORES!   Shakespeare dice, «errar es humano; perdonar es divino».  Cuando cometes una falta suplicar perdón inmediatamente. Esto es la humildad! «Lo siento!» dos palabras cortas, pero palabras que exigen gran humildad!



2. EL PERDÓN.  Por otro lado, si te piden perdón, ¡perdona inmediatamente!  No hay demora!  Recuerde, si usted quiere ser perdonado por Dios, entonces usted debe perdonar. De lo contrario, no rezar el Padre Nuestro… «perdónanos nuestras ofensas como nosotros perdonamos a aquellos que nos ofenden…


3. LA INTERRUPCIÓN/PLANES DESHECHOS!   Cuando sus «importantísimos» planes y programas se interrumpen o se alteran, entonces no enojarse, sino simplemente aceptar. Tal vez Dios tiene mejores planes que sus planes!!!!   «Mi vía o el camino» no se encuentra en el Evangelio, según mis lecturas!



4. CONVERSACIONES!  Deja que el otro tenga la última palabra! la gente orgullosa cree que siempre tienen el derecho a la última palabra. Santiago dice que debemos ser lentos en el hablar y rápidos en el escuchar. ¿Por qué no escuchar atentamente hasta el final!



5. CONFESIÓN!   Simplemente prepararse usted  bien para el Sacramento de la confesión y a continuación, confesar humildemente sus pecados al sacerdote, que representa a Jesús con un acto de humildad. Formar el hábito de la confesión frecuente se va cultivando un corazón humilde que es tan agradable a Jesús, que es Manso y humilde de corazón!

6. ÚLTIMO LUGAR!   Poner en la práctica las enseñanzas de Jesús en la humildad. Él dice cuando usted está invitado a una fiesta, no debe buscar el primer y mejor lugar, pero más bien el último lugar. A continuación, el anfitrión le invitará a un puesto de honor.   Recordar las palabras del Señor: «el primero será el último y el último será el primero…. y aquellos quienes se humillen serán exaltados…»


7. CORRECCIÓN FRATERNA.  Cuando alguien señala tus defectos, errores o limitaciones, en lugar de actuar defensivo y enojado, humildemente agradecer a la persona e intentar poner en práctica los consejos. La gente humilde reconoce que comete muchos errores y cuando son resaltados por otros ellos agradecen y  están dispuestos a obedecer!   Todos tenemos puntos ciegos y Dios envía otros que vean nuestros «puntos ciegos» que nos traen a la luz!



8. BUSCAR CONSEJO!  La gente humilde reconoce que no saben todo. Como el filósofo griego afirmo: «Lo único que sé, es que nada sé.»  Todos debemos ser humildes estudiantes sentados a los pies del Maestro.  Aun así, debemos buscar dirección espiritual periódicamente. Santa Teresa de Ávila, San Juan Bosco, San Ignacio de Loyola, Santa Faustina—todos ellos tenían muchos puntos en común entre los cuales uno de ellos fue, que todos tenían directores espirituales, que humildemente les apuntan en la dirección correcta hacia Jesús, «La luz del mundo».



9. ¡IGNORADO! ¡OLVIDADO!  ¡NO TOMADO EN CUENTA!   Cuando resulta que son ignorados, olvidados, cuando se burlan, o un chiste sarcástico, foco de una sonrisa irónica y sarcástica o incluso insultado directamente—entonces tienes tu «oportunidad de oro» para practicar el tercer grado de humildad Ignaciana y es así que se proyecta la humildad, a través de estas «humillaciones Reales».   Gracias, gracias y aún más gracias son necesaria para aceptar todo esto!  Una sugerencia!  Ofrecerlo para la salvación de un alma. Otra sugerencia!  En momentos de humillaciones, recordar las humillaciones de Jesús en Su Pasión, por ejemplo, Su Coronación de espinas. Estos dos pensamientos pueden espiritualmente motivarlo!

10. HUMILDAD AL VOLANTE! Más allá de la sombra de una duda, a veces en el camino, otros pueden hacerle travesía con el carro, precipitarse al frente y dejarlo con la «luz roja»!!!!  En lugar de emitir cualquier elección de palabras denigrantes, bendiga ese conductor.  Jesús dice claramente que incluso deberíamos bendecir nuestros perseguidores; Esto incluso puede aplicarse a nuestros compañeros conductores.  ¿Tal vez su oración y humildad dirigirá a esa persona «camino al cielo”?
