    over the course of the two movies was never the Joker at all, but in fact, the infamous villain from the Batman series was really just the random inmate who killed Arthur in the last
    moments of the film.

    The shocking twist left numerous viewers unsatisfied,
    and they took to social media to share their frustration.

    While chatting with Good Morning Britain last week, the two stars were asked if the movie turned out to be ‘everything they
    expected’ 

    Immediately, they both turned to look at one another
    and smiled. For a few seconds, the two stars sat in silence as they both waited for the other to
    answer the question

    ‘Tell them how you feel, Joaquin,’ Lady Gaga said to
    her costar, who added, ‘It’s so hard to talk about but I think we feel like we achieved what we set out to do.’ He’s seen in the film

    ‘The Joker had so much potential but that f**king ending ruined everything,’ a fifth said. 

    The Todd Phillips-directed musical serves as a follow-up to the 2019
    box office hit, which was simply titled Joker. 

    The first film grossed over $1 billion and at the time was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all
    time. It received 11 Oscar nominations – two
    of which it won. 

    The sequel, however, has already been much less successful.
    It had a lackluster $40 million debut at the box office in its
    first weekend, and has a low rating of 33 percent and 31 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

    ‘Undoing much of the goodwill from its predecessor, the
    sequel convolutes what could have been a unique character study
    into a bloated encore that goes out with a whimper,’ reads one review. 

    Another critic wrote, ‘This movie is a disjointed mess and a waste of time.
    It’s just tired, not particularly interesting, but it does look good from a production design standpoint.’

    The movie studio spent about $200 million to produce the film and about $100 million on marketing and distribution, according to the report.

    It would need to gross about $450 million at the box office
    to break even — when factoring in the cut taken by theaters — though Warner
    Bros. sources claim the number is $375 million.

    A Warner Bros. spokesperson responded to the report, saying ‘Any estimates suggested by anonymous «insiders» or «rival executives»
    are grossly wrong and continues a trend where
    rumor is reported as fact.’

    ‘The film continues to play in theatrical release, included with this week’s opening in China,
    and will continue to earn revenue throughout its home viewing
    and ancillary run.’

    So far, the musical about Batman’s nemesis has grossed
    $51.5 million domestically and $165 million globally after two weeks of release.

    In comparison, the first Joker grossed $96.2 million domestically

    [million] worldwide. Not a billion. People showed up because that
    guy was Joker.’

    In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of the film does not include a DC Studios logo.

    A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end of the Joker sequel, while Phillips declined to comment to
    the publication.

    Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca,
    Chairperson of Warner Bros. Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to
    say no to Phillips due to his huge past successes.

    It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather
    than Gunn and Safran – who took control of DC two months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.

    Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s
    cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he
    told a reporter: ‘With all due respect to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros.
    movie.’

    Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to filming in Los Angeles if the director would
    make the sequel at a lower price point.’

    The studio wanted to film in London which would have cost around 20 per cent less.

    ‘The one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay attention to what the

    13, poised to snapping a 10-day winning streak, after officials on Tuesday failed to offer much new on stimulus plans to revive
    the economy. The yuan is down 0.7% against the dollar so far this month,
    due to broad dollar strength, but the currency has 0.5% firmed for the year-to-date.

    China equities’ recent rally has raised the bar for an upside surprise from expected
    fiscal stimulus news, said UBS strategists led by Rohit Arora, adding that the
    offshore yuan’s near-term risk reward is unattractive. «Historically, fizzling of China equities’ spurts acted as a bigger drag on CNH vis-à-vis the tailwinds from equities’ surge,» the
    strategists said.

    Nevertheless, market participants are still awaiting additional stimulus measures
    that could help further lift China asset sentiment.
    Citi FX traders think the offshore yuan could trade well if local

    LONDON, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International (PMI) on Thursday signalled a slower than anticipated U.S.
    roll out of its IQOS heated tobacco device, a choice analysts said was positive for its
    competitors in the short term.

    The New York-listed Marlboro maker also said it aims for more than two thirds
    of its net revenues to come from «smoke-free» products by
    2030, up from 50% in 2025, as it tries to transform its image from a cigarette purveyor to a driver of the shift
    to healthier alternatives.

    Investors have been closely watching IQOS’ entry into the U.S., the world’s largest market for nicotine products, and had been expecting it from May
    2024 next year. Reuters reported on Wednesday that PMI is hiring lobbyists across a host of key U.S.
    states ahead of the launch.

    Chief Executive Jacek Olczak said IQOS would launch in four cities in two unnamed U.S.

    states from 2024, but a national launch would only come after PMI
    receives approval to sell the latest version, known as IQOS ILUMA.

    The company was planning to apply for approval in October and expected it from 2025, he
    continued.

    «We need to warm up the tyres,» he said of the initial launch, which would help PMI fine tune its approach.

    A national roll-out of ILUMA would follow but in phases, he continued,
    adding launching in 10 states in the first year
    would make sense.

    Meaningful traction for PMI’s heated tobacco products in the U.S.
    «now looks delayed until ILUMA,» Owen Bennett, equity analyst at Jefferies, said in a note, adding this was a positive for PMI’s
    rivals.

    Olczak also signalled that PMI’s push into non-nicotine products was no longer a priority.

    It recently scrapped an ambition for $1 billion in net revenues to come
    from sales of such products by 2025.

    Instead, PMI will focus its resources on IQOS and nicotine pouch brand ZYN, Olczak said, adding it
    had been too optimistic around acceptance of big tobacco companies
    operating outside of nicotine.

    PMI also announced updated medium-term targets including for revenue and earnings
    per share, and ambitious volume targets for IQOS and ZYN.

    ZYN and other oral nicotine products in the U.S.
    would help drive an expected $2 billion in revenues there in 2024, even before IQOS ILUMA, executives said.
