That assessment was at odds with the many photos showing Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce apparently
greatly enjoying each other’s company.

Even when Scott Morrison was PM, Mr Joyce enjoyed an apparently close relationship with Mr Albanese as the pair stood close together at
the launch of the Qantas’ landmark Perth to London flight
in March, 2018.
During a Senate hearing in September 2023, Mr Joyce said
he had been ‘friends for years’ with Mr Albanese.
Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese’s son Nathan a
membership to the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Mr
Joyce refused to confirm or deny but talked up his relationship with the
Prime Minister.
‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’ Mr Joyce said.
However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he
lobbied the Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock competitor Qatar Airways out of domestic
routes.
It has since emerged in a new book about Qantas, The Chairman’s
Lounge, by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston that
Ms Haydon is also a Chairman’s Lounge member.

Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy from Qantas and he would liaise personally with the former airline boss
for them.
Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his various parliamentary jobs to ask for special upgrades for himself or his family.
According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately
funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu, with some being for holidays.
Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights was for work purposes and all were ‘declared in the appropriate way’.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing Mr Albanese as being the ‘best friend’ of Mr Joyce.
Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr Albanese had directly contacted Mr Joyce to
request upgrades while holding a regulatory position in the transport
sector.
‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking up the phone to one of the most important stakeholders in the
portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again,
I think the Prime Minister would be able to answer those questions more effectively than anyone else because I’m
not aware of anyone else having done it,’ Mr Dutton said.

The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce for upgrades on Tuesday at press conference in the NSW
city of Newcastle.
‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly were not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on the A380,
‘ he said.
‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’
Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how
confident he was that Mr Albanese had made calls personally to Mr
Joyce for upgrades.
‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.
Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced by Mr Joyce’s lobbying to block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it was ‘implausible’ to think that the Prime Minister’s office had nothing to do with the decision.

‘It’s very hard to imagine a decision of any
political sensitivity in the Albanese government that
would not go through the Prime Minister’s office,’ Aston replied.
He noted the opening up of the Australian domestic market Qatar had seemingly been sailing through with Transport Minister Catherine King speaking warmly about the proposal until ‘everything changed’ to stop it dead in tracks.
Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the decision to block Qatar was due to Qantas lobbying her or any Labor colleagues.
Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade received from Qantas the Australian Financial Review reported on Tuesday that he failed to do for his former wife Carmel Tebbutt when the two traveled together.

Sky New host Sharri Markson on Monday night labeled Mr Joyce
as ‘basically Albanese’s personal travel agent.’
‘This is all a question of integrity. Most Australians struggle to afford even an economy airfare.
They’d never be able to afford the luxury of business class.
It’s out of our reach,’ she said.
‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making
decisions about Qantas when he’s been getting tens of thousands of dollars worth of free upgrades to
business class? The revelations puts the decision he made as transport minister and prime minister
under a cloud.
‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also politically lethal.
Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy who
made it. But now the perception is cementing of a long-term pollie enjoying the perks
of public office.’
Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s apparent close relationship with Mr Joyce is that the Labor leader in a trade unionist advocate while
Qantas attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by sacking 1700 staff
during Covid.
The sacking has since been ruled illegal by
Federal Court in a case brought by the union with Qantas facing possible hundreds
of thousands in compensation payouts.
The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely defender in semi-retired
3AW radio star Neil Mitchell.
‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell wrote
on X.
‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised by
having Alan Joyce as a bestie? Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.’

Diesase, the first of songs from her forthcoming seventh album,
was teased Tuesday on the Grammy-winning artist’s Instagram account, as
she captioned the image: ‘DISEASE 10.25.’
In a teaser clip from the viewpoint of an approaching vehicle,
the actress-singer, whose real name is Stefani Germanotta, sported
a black mane as she ran from it.
Gaga’s label Universal Music on Monday put out pre-saves for the forthcoming single, with links to Spotify and

The process of wine making is exciting and easy. As we
all know wine is made from grapes and the recipe has been developed over centuries.
Sure, first grapes are harvested, placed in a container and squeezed.

to produce alcohol- wine can ferment for three days or three years, depending on the style of wine the winemaker

with different effects into the wine when stored into
different canister.
Grapes are divided into two main categories – white and black, beside the
fact that the white grapes are not entirely white skinned they can be green, yellow-green, gold or light-orange.
Black grapes can also be characterized with a red or blue colour
and are richer in antioxidants.
Types of Wine
Wines can be categorised into the six primary categories:
white, red, rose, sparkling, dessert and fortified wines.
White wines are generally made from white grapes and they contain no red pigmentation. Most popular
white wines are Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio / Pinot Gris, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc.
Obviously red wines are made from red grapes and typically have more tannin and
a higher content of alcohol. The primary difference between wine colours comes from tannins,
which are more concentrated in the red grapes and transferred into
the wine juice. Popular red wines include Beaujolais,
Cabernet Sauvignon , Chianti, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel.
Rose wines are mid-point between black and white wines even they are made from red grapes.
Rose wines don’t fully turn into red colour because the grape skin has been removed so the red pigments are no more present to give a wine red pigmentation; instead they
have enough of a reddish tinge to make them differentiate
from the white wines. The best rose and most traditional Rose wine is Zinfandel.
Sparkling wines can be made from any variety
of grapes. Their basic characteristic is the intense effervescences that come from the carbon dioxide
bubble during the fermentation. Champagne is a type of sparkling wine named by a region in northeast France.
By law, wines may only be called Champagne when they are made exclusively from grapes grown in the Champagne region and produced according to
strict guidelines. Popular sparkling wines include Cava, Champagne,
Cremant d’Alsace, Moscato d’Asti and Prosecco.
Sweet or Desert Wines are prepared with high sugar content, because the grapes are harvested very late
when sugar levels are high or grapes are «drying » on straw so the concentration of sugar is very high.
These are considered to be the sweetest wines.
Fortified wines are those who are produced with small concentration of wine juice.
Instead they have Brandy or other spirits added during fermentation. The Brandy prematurely stops the fermentation process,
leaving a high amount of sugar in the wine. Fortified
wines are generally sweet such as dry late harvest Rieslings, Madeira, Port, Sherry and Sauternes.
Those were originally designed to ensure the wine survived long voyages on 17th century ships.

The jewel in the crown of his ever-growing brood of beasts is Schnelly
the pig, who joined the family in April last year, making the star the latest in a long list of
celebrities to realise the joys of a porky pal – along with Ariana Grande, Miley
Cyrus and the Beckhams.
I’m completely smitten with the cuteness of pet pigs.
I lose hours scrolling through Instagram, looking at pictures of furry little piglets with
pretty pink snouts.
There are 255,000 Insta posts with the hashtag #petpig and I’ve probably looked at all of them.
Then there’s the 286,000 posts hashtagged #micropig and
I’d hazard a guess that I’ve seen all of
those too.
So I’m rather excited to discover that there’s a pig farm less than an hour from central London, where I can find out what it’s
really like to have a porcine pet.
While celebrities might get away with turning up to photoshoots,

it’s easier to stick with a dog or cat as

I’m hoping the Kew Little Pigs Farm will
help me find out. It specialises in miniature pigs, which pig lovers can buy or
‘adopt’ to visit on the farm.
Then there are the day trips. The Piggy Pet & Play package lets visitors ‘pet, brush, groom,
watch and play with the pigs.’ The Pig Enthusiast package can include putting sun cream on the pigs, and the

buying your own micro pig.
Clearly I must go there!
And so I head to Amersham, in Buckinghamshire, where Kew Little Pigs Farm
is based.
When I arrive, owner Olivia Mikhail looks slightly
concerned at the sight of my Converse trainers and cropped jeans, a combination that will surely
result in splattered shins.
However, Olivia has no idea just how prepared I actually am, because I have
packed not only knee high wellies for my time on the farm, but also my designer heels, for my glimpse into what life’s like as a pig-owning celebrity.

owner of Princess Piglette
George Clooney, Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus, Jonathan Ross, Charlotte Church and even the Beckhams have all kept pigs as pets over the past
decade or so, while more recently Ariane Grande and Pete Davidson adopted Piggy Smallz during their
short-lived romance.
Comedian John Bishop gave rescue pig Milo a home for more than a decade and was devastated when the
pet passed away, saying he was the ‘heartbeat’ of the family.
They’re as much a celeb accessory as oversized sunglasses
– which is why I’ve brought those with me too.
But first things first. Before I spend an afternoon taking a petite pig for a
stroll, I sit down with Olivia in the Kew Little Pigs cafe, to complete the theory
side of the Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping.
It turns out there is quite a lot of admin involved in owning a pig, alongside a rule book thicker than Harry Potter.
Who knew that you needed a license to walk a pig? Who would imagine
that you can’t feed pigs your kitchen leftovers? It used to be common practice, but has been banned because
of the risk of diseases such as African swine flu and foot and mouth disease that
can be spread by consuming contaminated pork products.
Who can fathom having to fill out a form to drive your pig from one place to another – again for disease control reasons?
After all the admin and mucking out, Samantha
was delighted to move on to the fun part – cuddles
with Astrid

Samantha came armed with wellies for her day at the farm, but made sure to keep it glamorous
After swapping her flimsy trainers for wellies, Samantha felt equipped to tackle her day on the farm
And who would guess that pigs have to have their own house?
I mean, it’s only got to be about the size of shed, but it’s actually
a law to uphold welfare standards.
I suppose none of this is an issue for celebrities who have people to do
paperwork for them – not to mention acres of space – but to me it seems insurmountable.
Olivia senses that my dreams are crushed and attempts to reassure
me: ‘It’s really not that much paperwork. Look,
filling in this form would take two minutes.’
Moving on from the theory, we head outside for the practical part of the course.
Here, in large pens, are lots of little pigs which are
super cute, so this makes me happy.
I am given a rake to claw the pig poo into a dustpan. Both
the rake and the dustpan have long handles and I like the distance this creates.
It is certainly more civilised than picking up poo in a flimsy plastic bag on a dog walk.
Clearing away pig excrement with proper equipment which allows you to maintain a civilised,
and sanitary, distance makes me wonder if – despite the paperwork – pigs might just trump dogs.

up to take her pet pig down to the town centre for lunch
Taking a pig out for a walk is trickier than it looks, and a lot of treats are required to keep things on track
Next, Olivia asks if I would like to feed the pigs.
Yes of course! She hands me some hay that’s stuffed inside what’s basically a large fishnet stocking, the size
of Santa’s sack. The hay sticks out of all the holes, and it’s my job to hang up the sack in the pig pen, so the pigs can eat from it.
This sounds easy. Only it’s not. ‘NOT THERE! NO! IT’S GOT TO BE HIGHER!
TIE IT ROUND THE POST! NO! NOT LIKE THAT! NO!’
I feel like a failing contestant on The Crystal Maze,
only this is worse because I’m now surrounded by
hungry pigs and I cannot see a panic button.
I swear there was something on Netflix where murdered bodies were dumped in a
pig pen, to be eaten by the pigs. Or maybe the bodies were eaten alive.
This definitely happens all the time, according to TV, and now I don’t even know which is worse, the prospect of
being felled by pigs eating through my ankles, or the pressure to hang the
hay correctly.
It is like my challenge on The Crystal Maze has been especially devised to
amuse the inhabitants of hell.
I find myself grateful to make it out of the pig pen alive.
Surely I get to do celebrity stuff now?
Celebrities’ pigs are as stylish as their owners, so I’ve sourced designer
outfits for my trottered chums. I’d initially looked at diamond chokers by Dior, because what pig wouldn’t
want a diamond collar? But apparently pigs are
happier in harnesses, which fit around the
body, not just the neck.
I hunt for a harness that an A-lister might pick for their
pig, and I am delighted to discover a pink leopard print harness with a matching
lead.
It is by Urban Pup, a pet fashion brand whose website I’ve now spent more time on than all the other websites
in my search history.
There’s the zebra print, the cheetah print,
the pink argyle; the florals, the tartans, and the hearts.
There’s the range inspired by Legally Blonde and the pet carrier that resembles a pink Chanel handbag.
Then there are the socks…
I turn up at the farm with more outfits for the pigs than I have for myself.
I guess this is what it’s like being a pig parent: #SELFLESS
I am introduced to Astrid, a 16 month old micro piglet who’ll fulfill
my dreams of walking a pig. I show Olivia all the outfits I’ve brought from Urban Pup and she
picks out a pink tartan harness with a matching lead.
I want to dress up all the pigs but Olivia says no. That’s OK.
There is probably some law about only one pig at
a time looking this stunning.
When Astrid and I are dressed, we head into Old Amersham. It’s a pretty market town in the Chilterns with cobbled streets and quaint white buildings with beams.
So how will locals feel about a pig on a lead?
I imagine I may be sternly spoken to by a member of the Women’s Institute.
However, it turns out that Old Amersham is perfectly au fait with
celebrity antics, given that Poirot, Midsomer Murders and Four
Weddings and a Funeral have all been filmed there.
On my pig keeping course I have learnt that pigs never poo where they eat,
sleep or socialise, because they’re very clean, so from day one,
without any training, a pig will go outside to poo.
I am surprised then, as I arrive in Old Amersham, to find that Astrid
has done her business in her carry box. I try not
to think about this, as I hold her lead.
Our first stop is the Amersham Museum. I’m not a massive fan of walking around looking at things, but I hear the
museum homes a Tudor dining table that visitors
are welcome to sit at. It is about lunchtime, so I’m
hopeful I’ll be served a Tudor banquet. I quite fancy a tankard of wine and a bit
of wild boar.
Unfortunately, Astrid does not, and so, despite being welcomed by museum director
Briony, we leave pretty much as soon as we arrive.
We go for a stroll instead, but I have to scatter pig
food pellets to coax Astrid along the pavement.
I guess celebrities get their assistants to
walk ahead, trailing treats to entice the pet pigs in the right direction.

However, doing it without an assistant, I find myself
thinking that it’s definitely easier to walk a dog.
Celebrity life is about lounging in luxurious surroundings, so
Astrid and I head to The Griffin, a private members club, bistro and bakery, that’s pretty much the Soho House of Amersham.
In the beamed building that dates back to the 17th century, there are gorgeous leather sofas and
cosy cushions. However, I have learnt on my pig keeping course that pigs are happiest
alfresco, so Astrid and I take a seat on the astro-turf terrace, beneath a pretty parasol that wouldn’t be out of place in a Cotswolds shoot for Tatler.
It is here, as we relax like A-listers, that Astrid
and I are at our happiest. As I sip a coffee and eye-up a chocolate brownie (I’m being a
celebrity, remember, I don’t actually eat these things), Astrid puts her trotters up on the seat
beside me and enjoys a few pig food pellets.
Clearly this is our natural environment, so it’s probably just a matter of time before Astrid is snapped up
by a celebrity to live life first class.
But for now, Astrid must mooch back to the mud, and
I must head home to wash pig poo off my wellies.
I am chuffed to bits to have spent an afternoon with Astrid, but
as I think it all over, on the train back to Marylebone, I know that I’ll
never keep a pig as a pet.
Aside from all the legal red tape, my lack of space in London, and the trickiness of trying to take a
pig for a walk, there’s always the fear that the micro pig might turn out to be not so tiny after all.
I’ve seen headlines about 4 ounce «teacup» pigs
growing bigger than a bear, and frankly I find it terrifying.
So I’ll leave the pet pigs to the celebrities.

had left areas with voters still in the queues, it said.
Facing criticism from both voters and parties,
the electoral commission extended the vote for a second time, giving Namibians
until Saturday evening to vote.
In the capital Windhoek, at the only polling station picked to reopen, about
60 people showed up on Friday, including Kluivert Muuondjo who arrived at 4:30 am.
The 21-year-old student said he had waited in line until
11:00 pm on Wednesday but left before being able to vote as he had exams the next day.

An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time, an offer you simply didn’t refuse.
Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else. Because caviar,
smeared on blinis or piled high on baked potatoes, sure didn’t
come cheap. There may have been other things on the menu,
but no one paid them much heed. This was all about lashings of the black
stuff.
Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are few better dishes on earth…only the price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’
Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who
used to be the boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.
It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went
quiet. Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.
But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning the doors were opened to the great unwashed.
Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit
near empty – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of
a stern painting of a very stern man. The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table lamps,
indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the background.
The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.
Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous
couture. They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.
Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.
We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque
monsieur that tastes far better than it ought to.
Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily, glossily confident.
We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst into an impromptu performance
of ‘Willkommen’, we would have barely blinked.
Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped
savagely hard with butter and sour cream, are a study in tuber
art. A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them
to the sublime. Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth. I’d eat this every day
if I could. But I can’t. Obviously. That’s the problem with caviar.
One taste is never enough.

Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his relationship with Alan Joyce was a strictly professional one between a Prime
Minister and a corporate titan, as he battles claims the Qantas boss was his ‘personal travel agent’ for
free flights and upgrades.
However that characterization of the relationship was at odds with that made by Mr Joyce, who said he was ‘good mates’ with Mr Albanese and had been ‘for years’.
In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had Mr Joyce arrange free tickets and upgrades, Mr
Albanese distanced himself from the Qantas chief.
When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr
Albanese implied it was purely in a professional capacity,
having been Transport Minister and shadow transport spokesperson before becoming Prime Minister.
‘He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline … I had the
same relationship with him that I have with John Borghetti as the CEO of Virgin,’ Mr Albanese said.
That assessment was at odds with the many photos
showing Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce apparently greatly enjoying each
other’s company.
Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the red carpet at the Qantas 100th Gala Dinner in March
last year.
In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks the red carpet with one arm around the prime minister and the other around Mr Albanese’s
partner, Jodie Haydon.
Just five months later, in August, a smiling Mr
Albanese attended Qantas’s unveiling of it’s special ‘Yes 23′ emblazoned
airplanes for the Voice referendum.
Former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce jovially walked the red carpet with one arm around the prime minister and
the other around his partner, Jodie Haydon for a special anniversary event last year
Mr Joyce was seen touching Mr Albanese’s arm, with the PM bursting into laughter.
Even when Scott Morrison was PM, Mr Joyce enjoyed an apparently close relationship with Mr
Albanese as the pair stood close together at the
launch of the Qantas’ landmark Perth to London flight in March,
2018.
During a Senate hearing in September 2023, Mr Joyce
said he had been ‘friends for years’ with Mr Albanese.
Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese’s son Nathan a membership to the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Mr Joyce refused to confirm or deny but
talked up his relationship with the Prime Minister.
‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’ Mr Joyce said.
However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he
lobbied the Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock competitor Qatar Airways
out of domestic routes.
It has since emerged in a new book about
Qantas, The Chairman’s Lounge, by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston that
Ms Haydon is also a Chairman’s Lounge member.

Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy
from Qantas and he would liaise personally with the
former airline boss for them.
Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his various parliamentary jobs to ask for special upgrades for
himself or his family.
According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips
to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu, with some being for holidays.
Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights was
for work purposes and all were ‘declared in the appropriate way’.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing Mr Albanese
as being the ‘best friend’ of Mr Joyce.
Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr Albanese had directly contacted
Mr Joyce to request upgrades while holding a regulatory position in the transport sector.
‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking up the
phone to one of the most important stakeholders in the
portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again, I think the Prime Minister would be
able to answer those questions more effectively than anyone else because I’m
not aware of anyone else having done it,’ Mr Dutton said.
It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also has membership
of the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge
The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce for
upgrades on Tuesday at press conference in the NSW city
of Newcastle.
‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly were not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight from
Australia to Dubai on the A380,’ he said.
‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’
Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how confident
he was that Mr Albanese had made calls personally to Mr Joyce for upgrades.
‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.
Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced by Mr Joyce’s lobbying to block UAE airline Qatar
domestically Aston said it was ‘implausible’ to think that the
Prime Minister’s office had nothing to do with the decision.
Mr Albanese’s son Nathan, 24, has reportedly also been granted access
to the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge (pictured, Mr Albanese and son Nathan in May, 2022)
‘It’s very hard to imagine a decision of any political sensitivity in the
Albanese government that would not go through
the Prime Minister’s office,’ Aston replied.
He noted the opening up of the Australian domestic market Qatar had seemingly been sailing
through with Transport Minister Catherine King speaking warmly about the
proposal until ‘everything changed’ to stop it dead in tracks.
Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the decision to
block Qatar was due to Qantas lobbying her or any Labor colleagues.
Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade received from Qantas the Australian Financial Review
reported on Tuesday that he failed to do for
his former wife Carmel Tebbutt when the two traveled together.

Sky New host Sharri Markson on Monday night labeled Mr Joyce as
‘basically Albanese’s personal travel agent.’
‘This is all a question of integrity. Most Australians
struggle to afford even an economy airfare. They’d never be able to
afford the luxury of business class. It’s out of our reach,’ she said.
‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making
decisions about Qantas when he’s been getting tens of thousands of dollars worth of free upgrades to business
class? The revelations puts the decision he made as transport minister
and prime minister under a cloud.
‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also politically lethal.
Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy who made it.
But now the perception is cementing of a long-term pollie enjoying the perks of public office.’
Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s apparent
close relationship with Mr Joyce is that the
Labor leader in a trade unionist advocate while Qantas attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by sacking 1700 staff during Covid.
The sacking has since been ruled illegal by Federal Court in a case brought by the union with Qantas facing possible
hundreds of thousands in compensation payouts.
The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely defender in semi-retired
3AW radio star Neil Mitchell.
‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell wrote on X.
‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised by having Alan Joyce as a bestie?
Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.’
