C.) CONTEMPLATIO. Utilice ahora otra de las facultades que Dios le ha dado, ¡su IMAGINACIÓN! Todos tenemos una imaginación, quizás una viva imaginación. Pero la imaginación es como una espada de doble filo: la podemos usar para el bien o para el mal. Por ejemplo, una persona casada puede usar su imaginación para el mal si se la pasa soñando y pensando en su ex-novio o ex-novia, cometiendo así adulterio en su mente y abriendo paso al adulterio en el corazón. También podemos usar la imaginación para el bien. Podemos imaginar que caminamos lado a lado con el Buen Pastor (Salmo 23 / Juan 10). Podemos contemplar su mirada amorosa, sus hermosos y amorosos ojos mirándonos a los ojos, podemos escuchar su dulce y reconfortante voz y podemos experimentar su fuerte y cálido abrazo alentándonos en nuestro cansancio. En resumen, debemos adiestrar nuestra imaginación en el buen uso.
D.) ORACIO. Hemos llegado al verdadero corazón y a la esencial de Lectio Divina — ORACIO significa oración. Cuando en su mente o su imaginación brote una idea como una pequeña chispa y esta chispa prenda fuego al corazón, ábrale el corazón a Dios por medio de la oración. Ábrase a Dios y hable con Nuestro Señor íntimamente, hable con Él con sencillez y gran confianza. Cuan grande es Nuestro Dios, siempre está presto para escuchar todo lo que queremos contarle. Este diálogo con Nuestro Señor puede durar unos cuantos minutos, media hora o quizás una hora — tómese todo el tiempo que Nuestro Senor le inspire.
E.) ACCIO. Cuando la oración es auténtica se debe hacer visible en nuestra vida diaria. Santa Teresa de Ávila, Doctora de la Iglesia, hizo esta observación: »La verdadera prueba de la autenticidad de la oración es su fuerza transformadora en nuestra vida. Jesús mismo nos recuerda que el árbol se conocerá por sus frutos. Un buen árbol dará buen fruto; un árbol malo dará fruto malo. Quién reza con verdadera sinceridad, honestidad, rectitud de intención y por amor a Dios, dará buenos frutos y vivirá virtuosamente. De este árbol (de su vida) brotará y florecerá: la fe, la esperanza, la caridad, la humildad, la pureza, la mansedumbre, la paciencia, la obediencia, el autodominio, la mortificación y la fortaleza. Nuestra Señora es nuestro modelo. En la Anunciación contemplamos a María Santísima en oración, en contemplación. Y al concluir su oración, en la Visitación María sale de prisa para dar los frutos de su oración a su prima santa Isabel. Que el ejemplo de Nuestra Señora nos motive a ser »contemplativos en acción.»
F.) TRANSFORMACIO. Si nuestra meditación de la Palabra (Lectio Divina) es real y auténtica gradualmente transformará nuestra vida. Hay un dicho: »Dime con quién andas y te diré quién eres.» Deberíamos esforzarnos por vivir las palabras del gran apóstol san Pablo: »Ya no soy yo quien vive, sino Cristo quien vive en mi.» Esta la meta de Lectio Divina y de toda oración — imitar a Jesús, seguir en sus pasos y transformarnos en el.
