LOS TRES GRADOS DE HUMILDAD | EJERCICIOS ESPIRITUALES | 27 MAYO 2020

GRACIA A PEDIR:   Mayor conocimiento de si mismo.

QUINTO DÍA:   Los Tres Grados de Humildad… Lea el material que se ha repartido sobre LOS TRES GRADOS DE HUMILDAD.  Vuelva a hacer la meditación sobre el pecado y el infierno para renovar y reforzar su fuerza de VOLUNTAD y para rechazar a su principal enemigo – ¡EL PECADO!

1. GRACIA A PEDIR:  Morir antes que cometer un pecado mortal o pecado venial.  Ruegue a Dios que le conceda esta gracia.  Y si Dios lo desea, aceptar humillaciones para así imitar más a Nuestro Señor y Salvador. 

2. EL AMOR Y EL PECADO.  El pecado se puede definir de varias formas.  Pecar es: ‟Decirle NO a Dios” es ‟quebrantar los Mandamientos” es una ‟ofensa voluntaria contra Dios”.  Podemos también usar imágenes bíblicas, el pecado es: ‟idolatría, adulterio o darle la espalda a Dios”.  Podemos decir que el pecado es egoísmo o narcisismo.  No obstante, la mejor definición del pecado nos la da el venerable arzobispo Fulton J. Sheen: el pecado es ‟¡LASTIMAR A QUIÉN MÁS AMAS!”  Esta es una visión personal del pecado.  Porque el pecado no sólo es una transgresión moral sino un daño personal.  Entre más conscientes estemos de esto y que Jesús es nuestro Amigo, nuestro Amor y Nuestro Salvador, podremos evitar mejor el pecado. 

3. LOS SANTOS Y EL PECADO.  Los santos, quien ahora están en el cielo, fueron personas que vivieron en distintos tiempos, distintas culturas y distintos lugares.  Todos tuvieron diferentes talentos, luchas, pruebas y cruces.  No obstante, tenían algo en común: Su amor a Dios.  Esto les movía a evitar a su mortal enemigo – ¡el pecado!  Santo Domingo Savio, el día de su Primera Comunión tomó éste como su lema: ‟Morir antes que pecar”.  Y en realidad, santo Domingo Savio vivió su lema.  Él hacía todo para alejarse del pecado.  Santo Domingo Savio es uno de los millares de santos que tenía este mismo criterio moral.  ¡Pidamos y roguemos a Dios que nos conceda esta misma gracia!

4. LOS DOS MALES MÁS GRANDES DEL MUNDO.  Los dos males más grandes del mundo son los siguientes: 1) EL PECADO MORTAL – Al cometer un pecado mortal perdemos la gracia de Dios, la amistad de Dios.  Para que el pecado sea mortal, se necesitan 3 condiciones – a) Materia grave; b) Pleno conocimiento; c) Deliberado Consentimiento de la voluntad.  El segundo más grande mal (y en verdad es infinitamente peor que el primer mal) es MORIR en pecado mortal.  Si morimos en pecado mortal, perdemos nuestra alma por toda la eternidad; nuestro destino es el infierno.  Nuestra perdición es solo culpa nuestra y no de Dios.  Dios siempre busca formas de animarnos a renunciar el pecado.  Este es la finalidad de esta meditación. RENUNCIAR AL PECADO.

5. LO MALÉVOLO QUE ES EL PECADO MORTAL.  Aún conociendo la seriedad y lo díficil que es esta meditación, es necesario hacerlo.  Traigamos a la mente las palabras inmortales del Papa Pio XII:  ‟El pecado del siglo es la pérdida del sentido del pecado.”  Hoy en día, cuántos no carecen de una íntegra formación catequética y se dejan llevar por las modernas corrientes culturales.  Es más, sus conciencias carecen luz y conocimiento sobre la realidad del pecado. Cuando el alma está en pecado mortal, estos son los efectos….

 
LOS EFECTOS DEL PECADO MORTAL: 

1) Se pierde la amistad con Dios – con el Padre, el Hijo y el Espíritu Santo. 
2) Se expulsa a la Santísima Trinidad del alma. 
3) En vez de estar unidos al Cuerpo Místico de Cristo, nos hacemos parte del cuerpo místico de Satanás – así lo describió en un comentario publicado recientemente.4) Damos el mal ejemplo, damos escándalo – Quién vive en pecado mortal y ha escogido este estado de forma deliberada, da escándalo y mal ejemplo a otros.  Por ejemplo, quién vive en unión libre, en unión con alguien del mismo sexo o en adulterio está dando el mal ejemplo. 
5) El ejemplo arrastra – El que da mal ejemplo, anima a otros a hacer lo mismo – ¡El ejemplo arrastra!  Cada día son más y más quienes son arrastrados al fango, a la suciedad moral y cada vez caen más y más hondo.  
6) Pierden la paz – Quién vive en pecado no experimenta la paz de Cristo – ‟Shalom” la paz esté con ustedes.
7) Confusión y agitación – Quién vive en pecado mortal vive interiormente y exteriormente en un estado perpetuo de confusión y agitación.   
8) Sarmientos separados de la vid – (Jn 15) En Juán 15, leemos de la vid y los sarmientos.  Si la persona se aferra a su pecado, se han separado de la fuente de gracia – LOS SACRAMENTOS.  
9) No pueden acudir a la confesión – quién ha decidido vivir en pecado, sin tomar ningún paso para salir de él, no puede acudir al sacramento de la Confesión.
10) Se privan de la Santa Comunión – Peor aún, quién vive en éste estado se ha separado de la vida misma – Jesús el Pan de Vida en la Santa Comunión.  (Lea Juan 6, 28-71 – El discurso del Pan de Vida)  
11) La muerte. Si la persona muere en pecado mortal, perderá a Dios por toda la eternidad y será merecedero del castigo eterno del infierno.  ¡Veamos entonces lo grave y serio que es el PECADO MORTAL!

 6. EL PECADO VENIAL.  Después del pecado mortal, le sigue el pecado venial en gravedad.  San Felipe Neri llegó a decir que si tuviese un pie en el cielo, pero podría regresar a la tierra para impedir un pecado venial, ¡dejaría el cielo para prevenirlo!  Con qué profundidad conocía lo que era el pecado.  Luchemos enérgicamente contra todo pecado venial.  Igual que con el pecado mortal, daremos algunos de los efectos del pecado venial.  De esta forma podremos luchar contra este contagio letal.  

 LOS EFECTOS DEL PECADO VENIAL EN EL ALMA:

1) El pecado venial debilita en nuestra alma la caridad y el amor a Dios;
2) Tibieza y frialdad – Al ceder con facilidad al pecado venial, enfria y entibia el alma y la hace mediocre en el servicio de Dios; 
3) El fervor en la oración se apaga; 
4) El anhelo de hacer penitencia por la salvación de las almas se pierde;
5) El gozo desvanece.  San Pablo nos advierte que tengamos cuidado de no entristecer al ESPÍRITU SANTO con pecados veniales.
6) ENFERMEDAD – Este ‟resfrío” espiritual comienza a arraigarse en el alma, como raizes que crecen y se arraigan en la tierra. 
7) La oración se dificulta más y más y empesamos a dar menos y menos tiempo a la oración. 
8) El pecado venial no es pecado mortal, pero le abre y prepara el paso al pecado mortal. 
9) AUSENCIA DE PAZ – La paz interior de una alma fervorosa disminuye. 
10) PURGATORIO – Al morir, el alma tiene que pasar por el purgatorio para purificarse de sus pecados veniales.  Por lo tanto, luchemos enérgicamente contra el pecado mortal y el pecado venial.    

7. ¿QUÉ PODEMOS HACER PARA ALCANZAR ESTA GRACIA?  Claro, hay muchas razones por las cuales caemos en pecado.  Podría ser por la falta de oración, la falta de penitencia, debilidad de voluntad u oscuridad del intelecto debido al Pecado Original.  Pero hay otra razón por la cual pecamos, y es porque no evitamos la ¡OCASIÓN PRÓXIMA DEL PECADO!  O sea, tal como el perro vuelve a su vómito y la puerca lavada a revolcarse en el cieno, nosotros no evitamos la ocasión próxima del pecado.  

8. OTRAS PREGUNTAS RELACIONADAS CON EL MISMO TEMA. ¿Juega usted con fuego?  ¿Camina usted sobre camino resbaladizo sabiendo que fácilmente caerá?  ¿Camina usted sobre una fina capa de hielo que no soportará su peso?  Si es así, el que mal anda, mal acaba, esto nos enseña la Biblia.  CÓMO EVITAR EL PECADO.  Hágase estas preguntas y pida a Dios la fuerza y la gracia para evitar el pecado.  

  • PERSONA – ¿Hay una persona que le lleva a pecar? Si es así, analice su relación y quizás es momento de poner fin a esa relación.  El orden debe ser éste: Dios debe ocupar primer lugar.  El segundo lugar lo deben ocupar nuestro prójimo, lugares y cosas. 
  • LUGAR – ¿Hay algún lugar que le lleva a pecar? Si es así, entonces evite ese lugar a toda costa, evítelo como si fuese un pozo lleno de cocodrilos. 
  • CIRCUNSTANCIA – ¿Hay alguna circunstancia que le lleva a pecar? Si es así, entonces no se ponga usted en esa circunstancia. – ¡Evítela a toda costa! 

En resumen, para evitar el pecado, la gracia de Dios es indispensable, pero igual debemos colaborar con su gracia y poner algo de nuestra parte.  Colaborar es hacer un esfuerzo sincero de evitar toda persona, lugar, cosa o circunstancia que nos lleve al pecado.  Recuerden el refrán: ‟El que con lobos anda, a aullar se enseña” o ‟quién mal anda mal acaba”.  Por lo tanto, alejémonos de toda persona que nos conduzca al pecado y acerquémonos a los corazónes de Jesús y María, porque sus corazones son refugios seguros que arden de amor.

    LUXEMBOURG, Oct 7 (Reuters) – Germany’s economic model is not broken but Europe’s biggest economy has lost competitiveness
    over the past decade, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner said on Monday.

    «We can’t be satisfied with the economic developments in Germany,»

    The German economy is expected to contract by 0.2% in 2024,
    an economy ministry spokesperson said on Monday,

    euro zone peers last year with a 0.3% decline in gross domestic product.

    Lindner said the government was introducing supply-side measures to
    try to return the economy to growth.

    «After these reforms, Germany will have more competitiveness again,» Lindner said, adding that the
    growth initiative was just a first step for an economic turnaround,
    «but we have to build on it.»

    AMBITION NEEDED

    Lindner said «ambition» was needed to keep EU public finances in order, or to
    put them back in order where necessary.

    «I can only encourage everyone to implement structural reforms and to make unpopular decisions,» Lindner said.
    «What seems to be unpopular at the moment is the willingness to take responsibility for the next generation and for the stability of the European Union as a whole.»

    Lindner said he could not comment on the French budget plans because he
    had not had the chance to talk with his French colleagues yet, but he would do
    so on Monday evening.

    «We should all realise that the credibility of public finances vis-à-vis the capital markets is not to be trifled with,» Lindner said.

    «We must credibly reduce our deficits and our debt so that we can continue to finance ourselves well and in a stable manner.»

    DC and Warner- with claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner Bros.
    Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’ to say no to

    It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy rather
    than Gunn and Safran – who took control of DC two months before production began on Joker 2 in December

    Gunn and Safran did attend the first director’s cut screening for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he
    told a reporter: ‘With all due respect to them,
    this is kind of a Warner Bros. movie.’

    Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was
    ‘open to filming in Los Angeles if the director would make the sequel at a lower
    price point.’

    the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

    LONDON, March 28 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International is preparing to launch its
    flagship heated tobacco device IQOS in Austin, Texas, indicating it will be the first testing ground for its U.S.
    entry, job adverts on LinkedIn show.

    IQOS, the top selling heated tobacco device globally,
    sits at the core of the world’s biggest tobacco company’s efforts to transform its image from a purveyor of cigarettes to
    a driving force behind the switch to healthier options.

    Investors are waiting to see if Philip Morris (PMI) can create a market for heated tobacco in the United States, where vaping currently dominates.

    The country offers PMI a substantial base of new users
    and, potentially, a hefty new income stream that could prove transformative as it tries to generate an increasing proportion of revenue
    from products other than cigarettes.

    PMI spent the vast majority of $10.7 billion of expenditure on smoking alternatives between 2008 and 2022 on IQOS’
    development.

    The Marlboro maker had said it planned to launch the device in four cities in two U.S.

    states starting with one city in the second quarter, ahead of a broader roll-out likely in 2025.
    However it had not released further details, including around which cities or states it is targeting.

    Job adverts posted on LinkedIn reveal that the company is
    laying the groundwork for an IQOS launch in Austin,
    Texas. The adverts, posted this month, include positions as field sales representatives,
    territory managers and retail sales advisors.

    Whether or not IQOS takes off in the United States will be significant given the
    market’s size. Euromonitor estimates total U.S. nicotine sales, excluding nicotine replacement therapies, were worth some $143.6 billion in 2022.

    While cigarettes accounted for the vast majority of that,
    Euromonitor forecasts their value will shrink by 30% by 2027.
    The value of vapes, heated tobacco products and other alternatives will rise by 36%
    over the same period, it says.

    TESTING GROUND

    Products like IQOS work by heating up sticks of ground up tobacco without burning them in an attempt to avoid
    the harmful chemicals released via combustion.

    Heated tobacco products have so far been largely absent from the U.S.
    market aside from limited sales of IQOS managed by PMI’s former parent, Altria, and another product offered on a
    limited scale by British American Tobacco.

    PMI paid Altria $2.7 billion for the rights to market IQOS in the United States in 2022.
    BAT has subsequently cast doubt on the category’s
    potential in the country, where vaping and other alternatives are already well established.

    Texas offers an interesting trial market given its broad demographics, ranging from super
    rural to highly urban, said Brett Cooper, managing partner and analyst at
    Consumer Edge, an equity research firm. He added that diverse cities like Austin, Houston and Dallas provide access to a wide range of consumer groups.

    Tobacco taxes in the state are also relatively low, according to Centers for Disease Control
    and Prevention (CDC) data. The excise tax rate on a pack of cigarettes in Texas stood at
    $1.41 in September 2023, the data shows – far higher than the 17 cents in Missouri but also well below the more than $5 per pack in New
    York.

    Texas introduced new laws around e-cigarettes in January,
    restricting devices that resemble food products like candy or fruit
    juice, or that include a symbol or celebrity image targeted at minors or depict cartoon-like fictional characters.

    PMI bets IQOS can win a 10% share of U.S. tobacco and heated tobacco unit volume by around 2030.

    Ahead of IQOS’ launch, the company has also been building out its lobbying firepower
    across the United States. The company wants two thirds of its revenue
    to come from «smoke-free» products by 2030.

    Five years have passed since the triumphant opening of Joker at the Venice Film Festival.
    I still vividly remember reeling out of a morning screening,
    dazzled less by the unforgiving glare of the Venetian sun than by the movie we’d just been shown.

    Last night, here in Venice, came the world premiere of the sequel, Joker: Folie a
    Deux The director is again Todd Phillips, with Joaquin Phoenix once more in the
    title role, this time joined by Lady Gaga as what I suppose we must call the love
    interest, although that would undervalue her wonderful performance.

    The film is audaciously different in style
    from the original, not quite as electrifying,
    but bold and brilliant all the same. 

    It begins with a kind of sinister jauntiness with a Joker animation in the style of a Tom &
    Jerry cartoon, to show that since the events of the first
    movie, Arthur Fleck along with his murderous alter ego has become
    a cultural phenomenon in Gotham City. There has even been a TV movie about him.

    Joaquin Phoenix is once more in the title role, this time joined by Lady
    Gaga as what I suppose we must call the love interest, although that would undervalue her wonderful
    performance

    The film is audaciously different in style from
    the original, not quite as electrifying, but bold and brilliant all the same

    Joker: Folie a Deux is released on October 4, 2024 and will
    premiere at the 81st annual Venice Film Festival

    But Arthur is behind bars, waiting to see whether he will be judged sane
    enough to stand trial for murder, and in the meantime enjoying his celebrity status both with
    fellow prisoners and even the warders, one of whom, a sadistic Irishman played by
    Brendan Gleeson, feeds him cigarettes in return for jokes.

    Lady Gaga plays Lee, a fellow inmate on her way, we suppose, to becoming Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn.
    The pair hit it off at a music therapy class, and are soon mutually smitten, but Lee makes it
    clear that she loves the dangerously charismatic Joker, ‘clown prince
    of crime’, not the gloomily introspective Arthur. 

    Indeed, identity confusion is the theme of this film, which delves even deeper than the original into schizophrenia and other types
    of mental illness.

    It’s been said that Folie a Deux is a musical. It’s not, but music looms large as an expression of Arthur and Lee’s
    burgeoning love for one another. It is while watching Vincente Minnelli’s 1953
    classic The Band Wagon that Lee, who claims to have been imprisoned for arson, sets fire to their
    prison wing.

    The ensuing chaos provides an excellent opportunity to escape, yet Phillips and his co-writer
    Scott Silver toy with our expectations throughout; each time we anticipate which way the narrative is going to go, it confounds
    us by wheeling off in another direction. 

    The music is a constant, though, with Lady Gaga giving her interpretation of lovely old Burt Bacharach and even Motown numbers, and Phoenix more than holding his own. There are also a couple of swooning dance routines that make
    Arthur and Lee look like psychotic versions of Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in La La Land.

    Eventually, after Arthur’s high-profile TV appearance with a smug interviewer played by Steve Coogan, it is time for the trial, with all of Gotham gripped by the subject of multiple personality disorder. 

    Is Arthur the defendant accused of five murders, or is it Joker?

    His kindly lawyer (Catherine Keener) wants to make clear it
    is Arthur; Lee just as urgently wants him to identify as Joker.

    For those cinema-goers who consider Joker: Folie a
    Deux to be just another unnecessary Batman spin-off,
    you should maybe think again 

    All this is compellingly directed by Phillips, and superbly acted by Phoenix
    especially, in a role for which he seems custom-made, but by Gaga too.
    We’ve known since A Star is Born in 2018 that she can act, but she really is terrific in a bad-girl
    role. They’d have loved her at St Trinians. 

    As for those cinema-goers who consider Joker: Folie a Deux to be just another unnecessary Batman spin-off, you should maybe think again. 

    This might not quite be in the top rank of films about mental illness, alongside all-time greats such as Psycho and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
    But it’s not too far off.
