DEFINICIÓN. »La humildad es una cualidad, por la que una persona, considerando sus propios defectos, tiene una pobre opinión de sí misma, y se somete voluntariamente a Dios y a los demás por amor a Dios.» San Bernardo lo define como: »Una virtud por la que un hombre, conociéndose a sí mismo como realmente es, se rebaja.» Estas definiciones coinciden con la de santo Tomás: »La virtud de la humildad», dice, »consiste en mantenerse dentro de de sus propios limites, sin tratar de alcanzar cosas que están sobre uno, sino sometiéndose a la autoridad del superior.» (Enciclopedia Católica)
3. Reconozcamos quién somos y de dónde venimos. Dios le dijo a santa Catalina de Siena, “Yo soy el que Soy y tú eres la que no eres” Tenga presente, que hubo un tiempo cuando usted y yo no existíamos, Dios en su infinito amor, nos creo y nos trajo a la existencia.
4. Apréndase esta corta y poderoza oración pidiendo humildad: »Jesús manso y humilde de corazón, haced mi corazón semejante al vuestro.»
5. Reconozcamos que el camino seguro a la humildad es mediante las humillaciones. Dios permite ciertas humillaciones para mantenernos humildes. Estas son algunas posibles humillaciones que nos podrían visitar:
a. Un conductor en al autopista nos interrumpe el paso o nos suena
la bocina.
b. Al estar conversando con alguien, nos interrumpen.
c. Nos olvidan el día de nuestro cumpleaños o aniversario.
d. Nos hacen a un lado.
e. CORRECCIÓN. Alguien nos llama la atención o nos corrige.
f. CORRECCIÓN. Nos llaman la atención en frente de un grupo
de personas.
g. Mamá se la pasa todo el día en la cocina, y sólo recibe ingratitud
y críticas.
h. BANQUETE. Nos invitan a una celebración pero nos dan el
último lugar.
i. No recibimos una invitación a la boda de nuestro hermano o
primo.
j. Todos de la compañía reciben un reconocimiento menos yo.
k. Un compañero de trabajo quien acaba de empezar recibe un
aumento de sueldo, y yo no aunque tengo diez años trabajando ahí.
l. DEPORTES. Pierdo el partido después de mucho empeño!
m. EXAMEN. Repruebo el examen tras horas de estudio.
6. LAS HUMILLACIONES nos pueden hacer persona mejor o dejar un amargo rencor. Si no las vemos a la luz de la fe, tanto el sufrimiento como las humillaciones pueden ser una fuente de amargo rencor. Sin embargo, si se ven con ojos de fe, nos santificarán.
7. EL EJEMPLO DE JESÚS. MEDITACIÓN SOBRE 3 ESCENAS.
a. ENCARNACIÓN. El Hijo de Dios se hizo hombre, y en verdad
fue una gran humillación. Dios bajó, ¡se hizo hombre!
b. PASIÓN, SUFRIMIENTO Y MUERTE. Al meditar cualquier
parte de la pasión, contemplemos la verdadera humildad del Hijo
de Dios. Vea la película de la Pasión de Cristo de Mel Gibson.
Contemple la humildad de Jesús cuando fue coronado de espinas.
c. JESÚS PRESENTE EN LA SANTA MISA Y LA EUCARISTÍA. Jesús dijo que estaría con nosotros siempre, hasta el fin del mundo. Jesús está presente en su Cuerpo Místico, la Iglesia, pero de forma especial, en la santa Misa y la Eucaristía. Referente a la humildad, muchos católicos hoy en día no van a Misa. Ignoran al Rey de reyes. Peor aún, hay muchos católicos que comulgan, cuando no deberían comulgar, cometiendo así un sacrilegio, comiendo y bebiendo para su propia condenación. (1 Cor 11) Al hacer esto, están crucificando de nuevo a Jesús.
8. LA CLAVE PARA CRECER EN HUMILDAD. Aunque sea difícil, cuando lleguen las humillaciones, porque en verdad llegarán, aceptemoslas como bendición de Dios. Cuando nos visite una humillación, unámosla a las humillaciones de Jesús, y resignémonos con conformidad, y así estas humillaciones nos dejarán una persona mejor y no un amargo rencor. Creceremos en humildad. La gracia de Dios está siempre activa, pero debemos ser siempre dóciles y responder.
9. CIELO E INFIERNO. En el infierno están sólo los soberbios, arrogantes y auto suficientes. En el cielo, con Jesús y María, quien son modelos de todas las virtudes, están los humildes. Imitemos ésta virtud de los santos. Los santos reconocían que todo lo bueno viene de Dios; y todo lo malo era su propio hacer.
10. MARÍA. Después de Jesús, María es el ,modelo más grande de humildad. Dos veces vemos en las Escrituras su profunda humildad. 1) Su fíat, su sí a Dios, al ser la Madre de Dios. »He aquí la esclava del Señor, hágase en mí según tu Palabra.» 2) En su Magnificat, »Proclama mi alma la grandeza del Señor, se alegra mi espíritu en Dios mi Salvador, porque ha mirado la humillación de su esclava… Él hace proezas con su brazo, dispersa a los soberbios de corazón. Derriba del trono a los poderosos y enaltece a los humildes.» Que Nuestra Señora nos alcance la gracia que nuestras humillaciones sean signos de verdadera victoria. »Jesús manso y humilde de corazón, haced mi corazón semejante al vuestro.»

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are asking voter to choose between an immigration crackdown and reproductive rights
As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire, each major candidate has leaned heavily on a favorite theme — abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and border security for Republican Donald Trump.
In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with
both topics the subject of fiercely debated ballot referendums.
And in this key southwestern state — where the
billionaire Trump lost to President Joe Biden in 2020 by a tiny
margin of about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly
will count.
In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange T-shirts were going door-to-door to try to persuade
voters to back a ballot measure to inscribe abortion rights in the state constitution — and,
while they’re at it, to vote for Vice President Harris.
To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed by several Republican-controlled states amount
to «a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.»
She added, «Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.»

Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended the constitutional protection of federal abortion rights, Ireland, a registered
nurse, has worked in several states where abortion is banned or severely limited.

exceptions, he conceded, «but that’s very small.»
He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants that have entered the
country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris
administration.
«People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,» he said.
«My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.»
So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to back the proposal
to let local law enforcement detain, arrest and prosecute anyone suspected of
having entered the country illegally — powers normally reserved to the
border police who work for the federal government.
«I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,» Lopez said.
– Mixed impact –
The major political parties see the competing referendums as offering an opportunity
to mobilize more people to vote — on ballot questions at the
very heart of the two presidential campaigns.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race
for the White House that activists hope.
Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with the Republican holding a very narrow lead.
Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both
appear likely to pass.
So the abortion issue may not be «helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,» said Jenny
Brian, a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.
Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and to bring Trump back to
the White House, Brian said.
Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs. Republican issue, the Republican Party includes «a broad spectrum of views on the topic,» an issue that also
raises conservatives’ concerns about «government interference,» she added.
The same dynamic applies to immigration, with
the tougher language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not just
among Trump Republicans but also «moderates and even many Democrats,» said John Kavanagh,
a Republican and an Arizona state senator.
The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent
toughening on migration, specifically her promise to
maintain the partial closing of the border Biden ordered in recent months.
The vice president, Kavanagh said, is «running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.»

the film’s LA premiere afterparty last month.
A source said: ‘If the first movie was about some down-on-his-luck, mentally ill guy in a downtrodden city,
it makes maybe $150 [million] worldwide. Not a billion. People showed
up because that guy was Joker.’
In an apparent snub by Phillips, the opening sequence of
the film does not include a DC Studios logo.
A Warner spokesman added that a DC logo appears at the end of the Joker sequel, while Phillips declined to comment to the
publication.
Several frictions are said to have developed between Phillips, DC and Warner- with
claims that Michael DeLuca, Chairperson of Warner Bros.
Entertainment, and CEO Pamela Abdy seemed ‘unwilling’
to say no to Phillips due to his huge past successes.
It is claimed Phillips would ‘only’ speak with DeLuca and Abdy
rather than Gunn and Safran – who took control
of DC two months before production began on Joker 2 in December 2022.

for the studio but Phillips fueled rift speculation when he told a
reporter: ‘With all due respect to them, this is kind of a Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav also met with Phillips shortly after WarnerMedia and Discovery merged in April 2022 and was ‘open to
filming in Los Angeles if the director would make the sequel at a lower price
point.’
The studio wanted to film in London which would have
cost around 20 per cent less.
A source directly involved with the film recently shared: ‘The one thing about genre stuff: If you don’t listen and pay attention to what the fan expectations are, you’re

However, Phillips insisted on filming in LA with the budget remaining
static.
A Warner spokesman told the publication the studio ‘supported the decision to film in Los Angeles’.

Insiders also claim studio bosses did not want to premiere the film at the Venice Film Festival,

in the sequel include Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Zazie Beatz and Steve

dollar, but is headed for its tenth straight weekly loss amid concerns
that new tariff threatened by President-elect Donald Trump will heighten strains on the struggling Chinese economy.
Analysts expect the dollar to remain firm as Trump’s policies are expected to drive up U.S.
inflation, but they believe Beijing will prevent the yuan from falling too much.
«We anticipate some depreciation pressure in an expected strong dollar environment,» Lynn Song,
Greater China chief economist at ING, said in a note.
However, «we don’t expect an intentional large-scale depreciation and think the yuan will remain a low-volatility currency vis-à-vis most other Asian currencies.» The yuan was changing hands at 7.2549 per dollar around midday, little moved from
the previous close. Although the currency has rebounded from a one-year low
of 7.2996 hit on Tuesday, it is poised to register its longest weekly losing
streak since 2018.
The dollar index fell to one-week low overnight and «the USD’s consolidation should unwind the upside pressure building» in the yuan, aided by ongoing attempts by China’s central bank to restrain its decline, said Alvin Tan,
strategist at RBC Capital Markets.
Recent data has painted a mixed picture of China’s economic recovery, with
manufacturing activities improving, but property sales in many Chinese cities
remaining weak. China’s «economic landscape is unarguably dull, and the absence of excitement is perhaps the most salient feature,» said John Browning, managing director of BANDS Financial.
He doesn’t expect huge stimulus to be announced during next week’s Central Economic Work Conference, as «Beijing’s largesse will be reserved until after Trump is restored to the White House and the trade war formally begins.» Top policymakers will gather
at the conference to agree on major economic goals for next year.
But the target for 2025 growth, one of the most closely-watched indicators globally for clues of Beijing’s near-term policy intentions, likely will not be officially
announced until an annual parliament meeting
in March. During Trump’s first term as president, the
yuan weakened about 5% against the dollar after the
initial round of U.S.
tariffs on Chinese goods in 2018, and fell another 1.5% a year later when trade tensions escalated.
Growth worries and expectations of further monetary easing by Beijing
pushed China’s 10-year treasury yields below 2% to record lows this week, worsening the yield disadvantage against the U.S.,
and exerting downward pressure on the yuan. ING’s Song expects the onshore yuan to move within a band between 7.00-7.40 per dollar,
