EL ESCAPULARIO Y CONSAGRACIÓN A MARÍA



Jesús desde la cruz,
entrega a su Madre Santísima a san Juan , y a nosotros como madre
espiritual:  »Mujer, ahí tienes a tu
hijo, hijo ahí tienes a tu madre.  Y
desde aquel momento, el discípulo amado la acogió en su casa.»  En la persona de san Juan está presente toda la
humanidad y estamos presentes tú y yo, como sus hijos e hijas espirituales. 





Después de 33 días de preparación para la consagración total, hacemos un gesto concreto.  La manifestación externa de nuestra consagración es recibir y fielmente llevar puesto el escapulario café de Nuestra Señora
del Monte Carmelo.




Igual que el soldado viste
su uniforme como señal exterior de su labor e identidad, o el atleta viste su ropa distintiva, o el sacerdote
viste su hábito, nosotros quienes nos hemos consagrado a
Jesús por medio de María, vestimos el escapulario y morir con el escapulario puesto y muy
cerca de nuestro corazón.



SAN SIMÓN
STOCK.  En 1251, la Bienaventurada Virgen
María, acompañada de una multitud de ángeles, se apareció a Simón Stock con el
escapulario de la Orden en sus manos. 
En aquella época, los Carmelitas pasaban por tiempos muy
difíciles.  En su aparición, María
Santísima expresó su deseo, que tanto Simón como toda la Orden Carmelita,
llevarán puesto el escapulario sobre sus hombros.  Simón con humildad obedece a la Madre de Dios, y
descienden gracias y bendiciones sobre él y toda la Orden Carmelita.





OTROS SANTOS DE LA ORDEN
CARMELITA.  Después de san Simón Stock,
hubieron un ejército de santos quienes fielmente vistieron el escapulario café.  Santa Teresa de Ávila, san Juan de la Cruz,
santa Teresita de Lisieux, santa Teresa de los Andes, Elizabeth de la Trinidad
y santa Benedicta de la Cruz (anteriormente Edith Stein).



NUESTRA SEÑORA DE
FATIMA.  En la última y más conocida
aparición el 13 de octubre de 1917, Nuestra Señora de Fatima, la Madre de Dios
se aparece vestida como Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo, invitando al mundo
entero a que recen el santo Rosario y que lleven puesto el escapulario
café del Carmelo.




EL SIGNIFICADO.  Llevar puesto el escapulario no es
superstición, ¡el escapulario no es talismán o amuleto de la buena suerte!  De hecho, ¡es todo lo contrario!  Al llevar puesto el escapulario, como signo
exterior, hacemos una clara afirmación:  Queremos pertenecer a Jesús por la
intercesión de María.  Es un hecho que en ocasiones, familias tienen logotipos o algún emblem que los identifica.  Bueno, nosotros igual queremos manifestar
nuestra pertenencia a la »familia de María» ¡y esto lo hacemos vistiendo fielmente el
escapulario café de Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo!

AMOR Y
PROTECCIÓN.  Al vestir el escapulario,
estamos expresando públicamente nuestro gran amor a María.  La palabra escapulario viene del latín
»Scapula», que significa »hombros», porque el escapulario se coloca sobre los hombros.  Pero aún más importante, de frente, el
escapulario descansa sobre el corazón. 
¿Su significado?  Significa que María Santísima
nos está cubrindo con sus brazos y estrechándonos cerca de su Inmaculado
Corazón.  Esta devoción en verdad nos conducirá al refugio seguro del Inmaculado
Corazón de María. 






¿QUIÉN LO PUEDE
LLEVAR PUESTO?  Tradicionalmente, el día
que los niños recibían su Primera Comunión, recibían tambien la bendición de ser
incorporados e investidos al escapulario de Nuestra Sra. del Monte Carmelo.  Pero igual, cualquier católico, en cualquier
momento de su vida, puede ser investido con el escapulario.  Y una vez investido, la persona está inscrito de por vida
y no es necesario volver a investirse.






LOS PRIVILEGIOS DE
PERTENECER A UNA NUEVA FAMILIA — ¡LA FAMILIA CARMELITA!!!  Una vez investido (también llamado inscrito)
con el escapulario café de Ntra. Sra. del Monte Carmelo, recibimos las
oraciones y bendiciones de la orden Carmelita por todo el mundo.  Igual los santos Carmelitas que ya están en
el cielo forman parte de nuestra familia de forma muy especial.  Imagínese el gozo de santa Teresa de Ávila,
de san Juan de la Cruz y de santa Teresita, de que usted forme parte de su familia, ¡e
imagínese el poder de las oraciones de los santos Carmelitas en el cielo!  Hay una canción de los Beatles que entona
»Una pequeña ayuda de mis amigos». 
¡Estos son los amigos de quienes verdaderamente queremos recibir ayuda
para poder llegar al cielo!




LOS SANTOS Y LOS
PAPAS.  A través de los años, muchos
Papas y santos han animado el uso del escapulario.  Entre ellos están:  san Roberto Bellermine, san Alfonso Ligorio,
el papa Juan XXIII, el papa Pío XI, el papa Pablo VI y el beato Papa Juan Pablo
II


SAN ALFONSO.  Sucedió que un dia, alguien le disparó a san
Alfonso.  La bala pasó por su vestimenta
exterior y se incrustó en su escapulario café ¡sin nunca tocar su cuerpo!  No podría haber una señal más patente que la
mano de Ntra. Sra. del Monte Carmelo sostuvo la bala, de tal forma que la bala no mató a
él quien le amaba con tanta devoción. 
San Alfonso exclamó:  »Así como los hombres se enorgullecen de que
otros hombres usen su uniforme, así María Santísima está satisfecha cuando sus
servidores usan su escapulario como prueba de que se han dedicado a su
servicio, y son miembros de la familia de la Madre de Dios.»




SAN PAPA JUAN
PABLE II.  Acaso nos sorprende, que el atentado contra la vida del Papa Juan Pablo II se llevó acabo el 13 de
Mayo de 1981– el mismo día de la aparición de Ntra. Señora de Fatima a los
pastorcitos.  El Beato Pontífice,
atribuyó el haber salvado su vida, a la misteriosa y poderosa intercesión de la
Madre de Dios.  Sucedió que el mismo día,
al año siguiente, el 13 de Mayo de 1982, el Papa Juan Pablo II se encontraba de
rodillas ante la estatua de Ntra. Sra. de Fatima, dándole gracias por haberlo
salvado.  Entonces nos sorpredió haciendo un gesto
de gran profundidad. 
El Papa se puso de pie, y colocó en la corona de Ntra. Sra. de Fatima
la grande bala que le fue extraída de su intestino!  ¡Nuestra Señora lo había salvado!  El Papa vivió hasta el 2 de abril de 2005 —
y debido gran parte a la poderosa intercesión de la Madre de Dios– fue Sumo
Pontífice por casi 24 años más.




PRIVILEGIO
SABATINO.  Nuestra Señora al aparecérsele
a san Simón Stock, le revela este privilegio maravilloso llamado el Privilegio
Sabatino.  Las tres condiciones son:





1.  EL ESCAPULARIO.  Primera condición:  Vestir devotamente el escapulario café de
Ntra. Sra. del Monte Carmelo, como señal de nuestro amor y confianza en su
protección maternal. 





2.  CASTIDAD. 
Segunda condición: La promesa de guardar castidad según el propio estado de cada persona.





3.  ORACIÓN. 
Tercera condición:  Rezar el »Oficio Parvo (pequeño) de la Santísima Virgen María» — consiste de
los Salmos.  El rezo de este pequeño Oficio se
puede substituir con la recitación diaria del santo Rosario.  Cumplidas estas tres condiciones, Nuestra
Señora promete, por su poderosa intercesión, una pronta liberación de los
fuegos del purgatorio.  Escuchemos las
palabras de Nuestra Señora a S. Simón Stock:  » Yo, Madre de Gracia, bajaré
el primer sábado después de su muerte, y a cuantos encuentre en el purgatorio,
yo liberaré, y los llevaré al Monte Santo de la Vida Eterna.»




EL SIGNIFICADO DE
VESTIR EL ESCAPULARIO:





1.  AMOR. 
El escapulario es símbolo de mi amor a mi Madre María, mi deseo de
amarle como ella me ama a mí.  Amor,
con amor se paga.





2.  CONFIANZA. 
Es símbolo de la confianza sin límite en su poderosa intercesión en mi vida.  Yo confío que ella me protegerá de todo
peligro físico, pero especialmente de todo peligro moral que ponga en peligro mi salvación.





3.  FAMILIA.  Es símbolo del inmenso gozo que tengo, de saber que pertenezco a la familia de María.  Y por supuesto, es símbolo de mi pertenencia a
la Familia de Dios – la Santísima Trinidad. 
María es la Hija del Padre, la Madre del Hijo, y la Esposa del Espíritu
Santo.  María nos llevará al Corazón de
la Santísima Trinidad!

4.  IMITACIÓN. 
El conocer conduce al amor, el amor a un seguimiento, el
seguimiento a la imitación.  Si seguimos esta dinámica, nacerá en nosotros el
anhelo ardiente de imitar a María en sus virtudes más sublimes.  San Luis de Montfort enumera diez:  su profunda humildad, su viva fe,
su obediencia ciega, su oración continua, su mortificación universal, su pureza
divina, su caridad ardiente, su paciencia heroica, su dulzura angelical y su
sabiduría divina. (Tratado de Verdadera Devoción, S. Luis de Montfort, #108)





5.  PERTENENCIA / ENCOMENDADOS.  Vestir el escapulario significa que pertenecemos completamente a Jesús por medio
de María.  Es señal que queremos encomendar toda nuestra
vida y nuestro fin en las manos de María y en su Inmaculado Corazón.







GESTOS PRÁCTICOS
PARA VIVIR.






La entrega del escapulario a S. Simón Stock.

 



1.  EL ESCAPULARIO.  Usted puede hacer su propio escapulario.  Podría colocar en medio de los dos trocitos
de tela café, la Medalla Milagrosa y la medalla de san Benito.  Que Dios, por medio de María Santísima obre
milagros en su vida y le proteja del maligno.





2.  LLÉVELO PUESTO SIEMPRE.  El escapulario siempre se debe llevar puesto;
de lo contrario, somos a veces hijos y a veces huérfanos.





3.  BESE SU ESCAPULARIO.  En cuanto despierte en la mañana, ¡bese su
escapulario!  El beso es símbolo
universal de amor.  Con el beso, le está
diciendo a María que le ama.  Es más, la
Iglesia concede una indulgencia parcial a ellos que con reverencia besen su
escapulario café de Ntra. Sra. del Monte Carmelo.  (Anteriormente se daba 500 días de
indulgencia.)



4.  OFRECIMIENTO DE LA MAÑANA.  Empiece su día consagrando todo su ser a
Jesús por medio de María.  He aquí un buen
y conciso Acto de Consagración:  «¡Oh Señora mía!  ¡Oh Madre mía!   Yo me ofrezco enteramente a ti, y en prueba
de mi filial afecto, te consagro en este día, mis ojos, mis oídos, mi lengua,
mi corazón; en una palabra, todo mi ser. 
Ya que soy todo tuyo, Oh Madre de bondad, guárdame y defiéndeme, como
cosa y posesión tuya.  Amén».





5.  BENDICIÓN. 
Después de la oración de consagración, tome el escapulario y bendiga su
frente; bendiciendo así su mente, pidiendo pensamientos puros y santos, bendiga sus ojos; para que sólo vean cosas e imágenes que sean nobles, bendiga
su boca; para sólo alabar a Dios con sus palabras, bendiga su corazón; ¡para
amar a Dios completamente en imitación de María! 




Concluimos citando
lo que han dicho los Papas sobre el poder del escapulario.
  • »Que todos tengáis un idioma común y una armadura común: el idioma, las palabras del Evangelio, la armadura, el escapulario de la Virgen del Carmen… que goza del privilegio singular de protección aún después de la muerte.» (Papa Benedict XV)
  • “El escapulario del Carmen, por su misma nobleza de origen, su venerada antigüedad, su extraordinaria propagación, así como los saludables efectos de piedad por él obtenidos, y los insignes milagros obrados por su virtud, lo recomiendan con el mayor encarecimiento”. (Papa León XIII)
  • »Hagamos hoy una novena a Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo y entonces estaré listo para morir.» (Papa León XIII



  • »El escapulario es, en el verdadero sentido, un ‘hábito’.»  Todo aquel que lo reciben, por su vestuario, están vinculados de forma íntima, con la Orden Carmelita.  El que lo lleva puesto, profesa su pertenencia a Nuestra Señora, de la misma forma que un Caballero de la edad media (que fue la edad que vivió la entrega del escapulario) sabía que siempre estaba bajo la mirada vigilante de su Dama.  En la batalla, el caballero obrará con valentía, y cuando porta los colores, preferiría mil veces la muerte que permitir algún peligro.»  (Papa Pío XII)
