The claims Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy when booking Qantas flight
by personally requesting them from Mr Joyce are made in a new book
The Chairman’s Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston.

‘Tell them how you feel, Joaquin,’ Lady Gaga,
38, said to her costar as she held out a fake microphone
in front of him.
‘It’s so hard to talk about but I think we feel like we achieved what we set out to do,
‘ Joaquin, 49, simply stated.
Someone on X, formerly Twitter, posted the moment online last week and it went viral, gaining more then 437,000 views in a matter of days – and
many users took their initial silence as proof that they ‘didn’t like’ the film.
The internet has been flooded with negative posts about the flick
ever since it premiered, with one user branding it
as a ‘bore’ and another claiming it had ‘no plot.’
Many social media users have also slammed the movie’s final scene, which saw main character
Arthur Fleck (portrayed by Joaquin) brutally stabbed to death by a fellow inmate.
This meant that the man that audiences had been watching over the course of the two movies was never
the Joker at all, but in fact, the infamous villain from
the Batman series was really just the random inmate who killed Arthur in the last moments of the film.
The shocking twist left numerous viewers unsatisfied, and they took to social media to
share their frustration.
While chatting with Good Morning Britain last week, the two
stars were asked if the movie turned out to be ‘everything they expected’

The shocking twist ending left many viewers unsatisfied and they took
to social media to share their frustration
‘The ending made the movie a complete waste,’ one outraged user wrote.
‘The ending was pathetic,’ scathed someone else. ‘WTF you mean no Joker?’
‘The ending made no sense,’ added another person.
‘That ending? It’s so bad that not only it ruins Joker 2
but also the first Joker for the audience,’ read a fourth tweet.
‘The Joker had so much potential but that f**king ending ruined everything,’
a fifth said.
The Todd Phillips-directed musical serves as a follow-up to the 2019 box office hit, which was simply titled Joker.
The first film grossed over $1 billion and at the time was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
It received 11 Oscar nominations – two of which
it won.
The sequel, however, has already been much less successful.
It had a lackluster $40 million debut at the box office in its first weekend, and has a low rating of 33 percent and 31
percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
‘Undoing much of the goodwill from its predecessor,
the sequel convolutes what could have been a unique character study
into a bloated encore that goes out with a whimper,’ reads one review.
Another critic wrote, ‘This movie is a disjointed mess and a waste of time.
It’s just tired, not particularly interesting, but it
does look good from a production design standpoint.’

To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed by several Republican-controlled states amount to
«a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.»

But the referendums may not have the clear impact
on the race for the White House that activists hope.
Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona,
with the Republican holding a very narrow lead.
Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both appear likely to pass.
So the abortion issue may not be «helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,» said Jenny Brian,
a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.
Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and
to bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.
Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs. Republican issue,
the Republican Party includes «a broad spectrum of views on the topic,» an issue that also raises conservatives’ concerns
about «government interference,» she added.
The same dynamic applies to immigration, with the tougher language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not just among Trump Republicans but also «moderates and even many Democrats,» said John Kavanagh,

audiences – and won the Golden Lion during the 76th Venice International Film Festival.
Joaquin received an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of the Joker (Arthur Fleck) –
and the film garnered an additional Academy Award for Best Original
Score.
The sequel also screened during the Venice International Film Festival last month in September, where
it earned a 12-minute standing ovation, per Deadline.
However, audiences have since taken to X after the movie released in theaters on Friday – and shared their opinions
on the sequel, which features musical sequences.

has illegally sacked hundreds of workers’.
Mr Bandt replied: ‘And I’ll declare that and people can make their own judgement about what they think
about that.’
Cannane was referring to the Federal Court’s ruling that Qantas illegally
sacked 1,700 workers at the start of the Covid pandemic
in a case brought by Transport Workers Union.
Commenting on the sacking in June of 2020, Mr Bandt called it
a ‘devastating day for thousands of Qantas workers & their families’ in a Facebook post.
‘We’re thinking of you,’ he wrote.
Cannane challenged Mr Bandt further saying: ‘You don’t think you should be a little purer on this and just not take their
(Qantas’s) hospitality?’
Mr Bandt said he always made declarations about matters such as this and argued that the party’s policies to tax big
corporations heavily show the perks were not impacting the Greens.

The Greens are licking their electoral wounds after the Queensland state poll,

they aimed to triple their representation in parliament.
With 72 per cent of the vote counted they appear to have retained the
Brisbane seat of Maiwar but suffered a 4.6 per cent swing to the
ALP.
However, they remain behind South Brisbane, which has seen a massive 12.4 per
cent swing to Labor with 64 per cent of votes counted.

families, according Haaretz, which reported on Sunday that top US

of the lavish pads.
The cheapest apartment on offer is expected to be an eye-watering £35million –
around 70 times the average cost of a house in the capital.
Due to complete in Spring 2026 the scheme will easily surpass London’s previous
record breaker, the £1.3billion One Hyde Park development in Knightsbridge.
Caudwell told The Standard that there are already more than 600 prospective buyers on a
waiting list of billionaires and centi-millionaires who
have expressed an interest in making a purchase at the scheme.
There will be just 24 ‘principal residences’ in the property
including lateral apartments, penthouses and townhouses
with up to five bedrooms, and five more smaller ‘pieds-à-terre’ apartments.
The size of the homes has not yet been disclosed but the developers say
even the most modest property will start with
a guide price exceeded by only a handful of mansions in London’s

The ceremony was marked by the final steel rafter, one of 79
at roof level, being put into place on the top of
the nine-storey main apartment building.
No expense has been spared on the building’s interior and it will feature a ceiling with
hand-painted frescos based on Michelangelo’s Map of the Heavens in the Vatican, a reception room with a double height
ceiling and 18ft high French windows overlooking the garden.
There will also be a Palace of Versailles Hall of Mirrors-style crystal callery, created from over 1,
264 hand-set pieces of cut glass, a library and a

Do Greens and crossbenchers who claim that transparency and integrity is at the
heart of their reason for entering Parliament
in the first place hear themselves?
In the past few days they have mounted self-serving arguments against proposed electoral reforms that the major parties look
set to come together to support.
The reforms include caps for how much money wealthy individuals can donate, caps on the
amount candidates can spend in individual electorates to prevent the equivalent of an arms race, and
a $90million limit on what any party can spend at an election –
actually less than the major parties currently spend.
The proposed new laws also include lower disclosure thresholds for donations, thus increasing the transparency of
who makes political donations in the first place.
So the wealthy wont be able to hide behind anonymity while using their cash
to influence election outcomes – and the extent to which they can use their
wealth at all will be limited.
The bill will further improve transparency by also increasing the speed and frequency that
disclosures of donations need to be made.
At present we have the absurd situation in which donations get made – but you only find
out the details of who has given what to whom many months later, well after elections are won and
lost.
In other words, what is broadly being proposed will result
in much greater transparency and far less big money being injected into campaigning by the wealthy.
Teal Kylea Tink claimed the major parties were ‘running scared’ with the policy
and warned the reform would ‘not stop the rot’

‘What seems to be happening is a major-party stitch-up’
Anyone donating more than $1,000 to a political party, as opposed to $16,
000 under the current rules, will need to disclose having
done so. And how much they can donate will be capped.
Yet the Greens and Teals have quickly condemned the proposed new laws, labeling them a ‘stitch-up’, ‘outrageous’ and ‘a rort, not a reform’.
They have lost their collective minds after finding out that Labor’s proposal just might secure the support of the opposition.
I had to double check who was criticising what exactly before even starting to
write this column.
Because I had assumed – incorrectly – that these important transparency measures stamping out the influence of the wealthy must have been proposed by the virtue-signalling
Greens or the corruption-fighting Teals, in a united crossbench effort to drag
the major parties closer to accountability.
More fool me.
The bill, designed to clean up a rotten system, is being put forward by Labor and is
opposed by a growing cabal of crossbenchers.
It makes you wonder what they have to hide. Put simply, the Greens
and Teals doth protest too much on this issue.

The major parties have long complained about the influence the likes of Simon Holmes
à Court wields behind the scenes amongst the Teals.
And we know the Greens have taken massive donations
from the wealthy in the past, contrary to their irregular calls to tighten donations
rules.
Now that tangible change has been proposed, these bastions of virtue are running
a mile from reforms that will curtail dark art of political donations.
The Labor government isn’t even seeking for these transparency rules to take effect immediately, by the way.
It won’t be some sort of quick-paced power play before the next election designed to
catch the crossbench out.
They are aiming for implementation by 2026, giving everyone
enough time to absorb and understand the changes before preparing for them.
Don’t get me wrong, no deal has yet been done between Labor and the
Coalition. I imagine the opposition want to go over
the laws with a fine tooth comb.
As they should – because it certainly isn’t beyond Labor to include hidden one-party advantages in the proposed design which would create loopholes only the unions are capable of taking
advantage of, therefore disadvantaging the Coalition electorally in the years to come.
But short of such baked-in trickiness scuttling a deal to get these proposed laws implemented, the crossbench should offer their support,
not cynical opposition, to what is being advocated for.
They might even be able to offer something worthwhile that could
be incorporated in the package.
To not do so exposes their utter hypocrisy and blowhard false commentary about being in politics to ‘clean things
up’.
The cost for one of London’s most pricey apartments will begin at £35million – with 600 megarich customers already securing a spot on the waiting list.
Pricing details of billionaire John Caudwell’s spectacular 1 Mayfair development have now been revealed and
only those with the deepest pockets can hope to afford
one of the lavish pads.
The cheapest apartment on offer is expected to be an eye-watering £35million – around 70 times
the average cost of a house in the capital.
Due to complete in Spring 2026 the scheme will easily surpass London’s previous record breaker, the
£1.3billion One Hyde Park development in Knightsbridge.
Caudwell told The Standard that there are already more than 600 prospective buyers on a waiting list of billionaires and centi-millionaires who have expressed an interest in making a purchase at the
scheme.
There will be just 24 ‘principal residences’ in the property including
lateral apartments, penthouses and townhouses with up to five bedrooms, and five more smaller ‘pieds-à-terre’
apartments.
The size of the homes has not yet been disclosed but the developers say even the
most modest property will start with a guide price
exceeded by only a handful of mansions in London’s richest neighbourhoods.
The average price of all 29 units – which cover 300,000 sq ft – will be close to £70million.

those with the deepest pockets can hope to afford one of the lavish pads.

The entry level price of £35million is 70 times the average London property value of around £500,000, and 130
times the national average price of £268,000 revealed in today’s Nationwide house price survey for November.
The development’s basement is being dug down to 90ft below ground level to make room for a health spa with a 20 metre swimming pool
as well as a car park.
The designs were led by New York based architect Robert Stern and practice
RAMSA, with contractors, Mace, the construction managers and PJ Carey responsible for the creation of the basement substructure and superstructure.
Due to complete in Spring 2026 after a six years build the scheme will easily surpass London’s previous

Caudwell – who founded the mobile phones retailers Phones 4u – attended the topping out of 1 Mayfair alongside senior members of the
construction team.
The ceremony was marked by the final steel rafter, one
of 79 at roof level, being put into place on the top of the nine-storey
main apartment building.
No expense has been spared on the building’s interior and it
will feature a ceiling with hand-painted frescos based on Michelangelo’s
Map of the Heavens in the Vatican, a reception room with a double height ceiling and
18ft high French windows overlooking the garden.

inside the Louvre and a small smile broke out onto her face upon seeing a certain piece of artwork.

In conclusion, text on the screen revealed that an exhibition at the Louvre
called Figures of the Fool will begin next month on October 16.
According to the official website, the museum is ‘dedicating an unprecedented exhibition to the myriad
figures of the fool, which permeated the
pictorial landscape of the 13th to the 16th centuries.’
In the caption of the post, the performer wrote to her followers, ‘There’s always a Joker.
