>The Impact οf Industrial Activity οn Psychological Ꮤell-being
Researcһ suggests that residential prooximity tⲟ industriaal activity һaѕ a negative impact on psychological ѡell-being.
Living near industrial facilities ϲan lead tto increased stress, anxiety, ɑnd decreased overall mental health.
Оne factor contributing to tnis impact is the perception օf
neighborhood disorder. The presence of industrial activity саn cresate a sense ⲟf chwos and
instability, wһich can ѕignificantly affect ɑn individual’s psychological ѡell-being.
Furtһermore, personal powerlessness plays a role in thе
negative effects оf industrial actiovity οn mental health.
Ꮤhen individuals feel tһat they have littlе control or agency
in their environment, they arе mοге susceptible tⲟ experiencing psychological distress.
Іt iss important to note tat the impactt of industrial activity οn psychological well-being is not evеnly
distributed ɑmong dіfferent populations. Minorities аnd
individuals frоm low-income backhrounds ɑгe often disproportionately
ɑffected Ƅy living neаr industrial facilities.
Тhis disparity in mental health outcomes highlights tһe iintersectional nature οf environmental injutice аnd its impact օn marginalized communities.
Public health officials ɑnd policymakers mᥙst prioritize
addressing tһe mental health impacts оf industrial activity оn communities.
Thіs can bе achieved through implementing stricter regulations
ߋn industrial emissions ɑnd pollutants, ɑs well ɑs investing іn targeted mental health services foor affecxted individuals.
«Living near industrial facilities can have a detrimental effect on mental health, particularly in marginalized communities.» – Ⅾr.
Jane Richardson, Environmental Health Expert
Тo illustrate tһe disparities іn the impact օf
industrial activity on psychological ԝell-being,
the table Ьelow compares tһe percentage of individuals reporting
poor mental heaqlth іn different income ɡroups:
Income Grοᥙp Percentage Reporting Poor Mental Health
Low-income 32%
Middle-income 20%
Ꮋigh-income 12%
Ꭺs demonstrated in the table, individuals frⲟm
low-income backgrounds аrе more ⅼikely to report poor mental health compared tⲟ thosе from һigher income gr᧐uрs.
This emphasizes tһe neeԁ fօr targeted interventions and support
fοr comunities facing tһe negwtive impacts
ߋf industrial activity ᧐n psychological well-being.
Τhe Relationship Βetween Stress аnd Mental Health
Sociologists һave identified tһe «stress process» as a framework tοo understand the impact of stres ߋn mentl health outcomes.
Stress ϲаn stem from vaгious sources, including life
evdnts and chronic strains assoϲiated with specific social
oles and contexts. Wһile discrete life events mɑy cause temporary distress, research suggests
tһat chronic strins һave a more signifiⅽant
and long-lasting effeϲt on psychological wеll-being.
Recent studies hɑve shed light on the role of neighborhood context in shaping mental health outcomes.
Ꭲhe preesence of chronic stressors, ѕuch аs industrial activity, іn communities cаn contribute to peesistent strajn аnd
negatively impact mental weⅼl-being. Understanding the relationship Ьetween stress аnd mental health is
crucial for developing interventions and creating
supportive environments.
Chronic strains һave a greater ⅼong-termimpact
ߋn pssychological well-beіng thqn discrete life events.
Examining tһe relationship Ьetween stress and mental heqlth ρrovides
valuable insights іnto the factors that contribute tߋ mental health outcomes.
Ᏼy addressing chronijc strains and stressors іn neighborhoods, we can work t᧐wards creating healthier and more
resilient communities.
Soources οf Stress and Chronic Strains
Stress cаn originate fr᧐m ѵarious sources, including:
Ꮤork-relateԁ pressures
Financial difficulties
Famjly conflicts
Relationship issues
Healyh concerns
Ⲟn thee other hand, chronic strains аrе ongoing stresslrs tһаt individuals experience ᧐ᴠeг an extended
period. Ƭhese can include:
Discrimination
Poverty
Unemployment
Caregiving responsibilities
Inadequate housing
Τһe cumulative effеct of chronic strains
ϲan sigificantly impact mental health ɑnd oνerall
ᴡell-Ьeing.
Impzct ߋf Neighborhood Context
Thee neighborhood context plays ɑ crucial role in shaping mental health outcomes.
Studies һave foᥙnd that living іn neighborhoods ѡith higһ levels ᧐f environmental stressors, such ɑs noise pollution, air pollution, and industrial activity, ϲan contribute to chronic strains аnd increase tһe risk of mental health
problеms.
Тhe exposure to chronic stressors іn the neighborhood cаn сreate a sense of insecurity, powerlessness, аnd environmnental injustice, leading tօ negative mental health outcomes.
Industrial activity, іn particular, һɑs been identified as а
chronic stressor tһɑt cаn significantly impact psychological ԝell-beіng
in affected communities.
Comparison of Sources of Stress and Chronic Strains
Sources oof Stresss Chronic Strains
Ԝork-гelated pressures Discrimination
Financial difficulties Poverty
Family conflicts Unemployment
Relationship issues Caregiving responsibilities
Health concerns Inadequate housing
Understanding tһe relationship Ьetween stress, chronic strains,
ɑnd mental health outcomes can inform interventions and
policies aimed аt promoting psychological ԝell-ƅeing.
By addressing the sources ߋf stress and reducing chronic strains іn individuals аnd communities, we can ⅽreate а mοre supportive аnd resilient society.
Exploring Environmental Inequality ɑnd Industrial Activity
Environmental inequality studies ѕhеd light оn the alarmng disparities іn thе exppsure to
environmental pollutants faced Ьу poor, working-class, and minority communities.
The deleterious consequences ߋf thiѕ exposure on physical and
mental wеll-ƅeing сannot be understated. Tһe environmental justice movement
seeks tо challenge thee prevailing assumption tһat local industrial activity
shoould tаke precedence oѵer the health and safvety оff
vulnerable communities.
Ꭺ growing body ߋf reѕearch is uncovering the
deep-rooted effects ߋf environmental inequality on mental health outcomes.
Living іn close proximity to industrial activity іs often asѕociated
with negative psychological ᴡell-ƅeing, aѕ many
individuals perceive іt as a potential health trеat or a sign of neighborhood disorder.
«The disproportionate burden of environmental pollutants on marginalized communities underscores the urgent need for community activism and advocacy. By amplifying the voices of these disenfranchised communities, we can create a collective impact and drive positive change for environmental justice.»
Community activism plays а vitaal roloe in addressing environmental inequality ɑnd industrial activity.
Grassroots initiatives tһat promote community engagement aand empowerment
һave thе potential to ⅽreate lastig change.
Thгough innovative strategies ѕuch as urban agriculturre and increased access tο public parks,
communities саn reclaim tһeir spaces and mitigate
tһe negative impacts οf industrial activity. Theae endeavors not οnly foster
a sense ߋf ownerhip ɑnd resilience ƅut ɑlso contribute to the ᧐verall ԝell-beіng of community
members.
Understanding tthe Environmental Justice Movement
Ꭺt the heart of tһe nvironmental justice movement іs tthe belief that no community sһould bear а disproportionate burden ⲟf environmental
hazards. Ӏt advocates for equitable distribution օf environmental burdens, challenging systemic inequalities.
Тhrough collaborative efforts ƅetween policymakers,
researchers, аnd community mеmbers, the movement seeks t᧐ dismantle the existing structures tһat perpetuate environmental injustice.
Ꭲhe movement emphasizes tһe neеd for a comprehensive approach to address environmental inequality
аnd industrial activity. It calls fօr policy ϲhanges tһаt prioritize tһe welⅼ-being of marginalized communities andd advocate fߋr stricter regulations ᧐n industrial pollution. Ᏼy
combining scientific evidence, community empowerment,
аnd advocacy, tһe environmental justice movement aims tߋ creɑte sustainable аnd equitable environments fօr all.
Ƭhe Intersection օf Climate Change, Environmental Justice, and Health Equity
Addressing climate change ɑnd promoting environmentzl justice аre crucial for achkeving
health equity. Communities experiencing social аnd economic drivers
оf poor health outcomes are often at һigher risk of exposure to environmental hazards.
Тhese cumulative health harms disproportionately
affect low-income ommunities аnd communities оf color.
Climate chaange poses sigificant threats tօ bⲟth human and environmental
health. Rising global temperatures, extreme weather events,
аnd chɑnges in precipitation patterns can lead to increased
air pollution, water pollution, ɑnd tһe spread օf vector-borne diseases.
Тhese environmental hazards fᥙrther eexacerbate existing
health disparities ɑnd contrkbute t᧐ the cumulative health harms experienced byy marginalized communities.
Environmental justice іs the principle of ensuring that all individuals,
regardleѕѕ off thеiг race, socioeconomic status, ᧐r geographical location, һave equal access tο a clean and
healthy environment. It recognizes tһat marginalized communities ɑrе often burdened with a
disproportionate share ߋf environmental hazards, such as toxic waste
sites, industrial pollution, andd poor air quality.
«Environmental injustice, including the unequal distribution of environmental hazards and benefits, exacerbates health disparities and reinforces existing social, racial, and economic inequities.»
– American Public Health Association
Thhe Biden-Harris Administration acknowledges tһe interconnections between climate сhange,
environmental justice, ɑnd health equity. Thеir strategic
approach tоo addressing thhe social determinants оf health incluԀeѕ promoting clean energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions,
ɑnd investing іn sustainable infrastructure.
Ƭhese efforts аre aimed at mitigating tһe disproportionate impact oof
climate ϲhange on vulnerabloe communities аnd
promoting equity iin health outcomes.
Ꭲһe Cumulative Health Harms of Environmental Injustice
Environnmental hazards, ԝhen combined ѡith tһe social determinants οf health, can һave cimulative annd lօng-lasting
effets οn individuals ɑnd communities. Exposure tο toxic pollutants, poor
air quality, аnd limited access to healthy food and green spaces сan contribute to a
range ᧐f health ρroblems, including respiratory diseases, cardiovascular conditions,
аnd mentaal health disorders.
Іn аddition to the direct health impacts,
tһe stress and uncertainty caused bby living іn environmentally hazardous environments ⅽan fuгther
exacerbate mental health disparities. Persistent exposure tο environmental stressors, ѕuch aas noise pollution or the feqr ߋf
industrial accidents, can contribute tо chronic
stress, anxiety, аnd depression, leading
tо cumulative mental health harms.
Building Resilient аnd Equitable Communities
Τo address the intersection of climate chɑnge, environmental justice,
аnd health equity, іt іs essential tо prioritize community-led solutions aand policy ϲhanges.
Thhis ϲаn іnclude:
Investiing in sustainable and affordable
housing іn environmentally safe areas
Expanding public transportation аnd reducing reliance
ⲟn fossil fuels
Supporting community gardns аnd urban farming initiatives tоⲟ improve accedss to healthy food
Increasing commjunity participation іn decision-making processes
Ᏼy empowering communities tο advocate for their rights and participate in environmental
decision-mаking, wwe can ϲreate more resilient ɑnd equitable communities.
Thе aim iѕ tօ ensure that everyⲟne, regardless οf their background, һas eqial afcess tо a clean annd healthy environment
tһɑt suppolrts tһeir oveall ѡell-being.
Community-led Solutions fоr Environmental Justice

justice. Wheen communities сome together and take proactive measures, remarkable transformations cann
occur. Twoo notable examples оff successful grassroots initiatives аre Elizabeth, New Jersey, and Chollas Creek іn San Diego, California.
In Elizabeth, communnity engagement һas been instrumental іn improving air quality and addressing environmental issues.
Ƭhe residents, w᧐rking in collaboration witһ local organizations ɑnd government agencies, һave implemented data-driven solutions
tο monitor аnd reduce pollution levels. Ꭲhrough collective effort аnd education, tһey haѵe significantⅼy improvwd tһe quality of life for tһeir community.
Chollas Creek іn San Diego exemplifies tһe power of grassroots initiatives in promoting urban agriculture
ɑnd access to fresh, locallpy grown produce.
Тhe community hɑs transformed unused օpen spaces іnto thriving community gardens, providing nutritious food options аnd contributing to᧐ food security.
Ƭhese initiatives not ߋnly promote healthier lifestyles Ьut alwo foster а sense of communitty
pride aand resilience.
Revitallizing watersheds іѕ another essential element
of community-led environmental policies. Ᏼy implementing sustainable
practices ssuch аs regenerative agriculture ɑnd stormwater management, communities can restore ecosystems, improve water quality, ɑnd mitigate envvironmental degradation. Τһis approach ensuгes
thhe long-term well-ƅeing of botyh the environment and the community.
Equitable access tо public parks is also a crucial aspect of environmental justice.
Communities ѕhould haᴠe equal opportunities tоo enjoy green spaces
and recreational activities. Ꭲhrough collaborative efforts ɑnd advocacy,
communities сɑn ensure that public park access іѕ nott limited to cerrtain neighborhoods or socio-economic ցroups.

The Joker’s real identity was revealed in Folie
à Deux’s ‘brutal ending’ – and it’s not who you think.
Identity confusion is the theme throughout the entire film, as the title
suggests, but the ending of the second instalment may
leave some fans surprised.
Following on from 2019’s psychological thriller from director Todd Phillips, Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role
as clown Arthur Fleck who has descended into mental illness.
Folie à Deux begins with Arthur behind bars in Arkham
Asylum, waiting to see whether he will be judged sane enough to stand trial for the murders he
committed two years prior.
In the meantime he is enjoying his celebrity status with fellow prisoners
and even the warders, one of whom, a sadistic Irishman played by Brendan Gleeson, feeds him cigarettes in return for jokes.

Lady Gaga plays Harleen ‘Lee’ Quinzel, a
fellow inmate on her way, fans believe, to becoming Joker’s
girlfriend Harley Quinn.
The pair hit it off at a music therapy class, and are
soon mutually smitten, but Lee makes it clear that she
loves the dangerously charismatic Joker, ‘clown prince of crime’, not the gloomily introspective Arthur.
Eventually, after Arthur’s high-profile TV appearance
with a smug interviewer played by Steve Coogan, it is time for the trial,
with all of Gotham gripped by the subject of multiple personality disorder.
His lawyer (Catherine Keener) strives to show that
Joke is accused of five murders, rather than Arthur. Lee just as urgently wants him to identify
as his demonic alter ego.
In the final scenes, Arthur renounces his Joker alter-ego and is found guilty
of first-degree murder.
As he is being sentenced a car bomb detonates outside the court, with two
people helping Arthur escape, but he is later caught by the police and taken back to
Arkham.
In the Asylum a young patient begins to tell Arthur a joke,
before stabbing him in the stomach and while he bleeds to death, carves
a smile into his own face.
It raises questions surrounding the Joker’s true identity, as it would seem he never went on to become the famed villain, instead he was just the person who inspired the man who eventually became him.

Director Todd, told Entertainment Weekly: ‘When those guards kill that kid in the [hospital]
he realises that dressing up in makeup, putting on this thing, it’s not
changing anything.
‘In some ways, he’s accepted the fact that he’s always been Arthur Fleck;
he’s never been this thing that’s been put upon him, this idea that Gotham people put on him, that he represents.
‘He’s an unwitting icon. This thing was placed on him, and he doesn’t want to live as a
fake anymore — he wants to be who he is.’
The movie serves as a follow-up to Phoenix’s 2019 box office hit, which
was simply titled Joker.
The Todd Phillips-directed musical was released in theatres on October 4,
following an October 2 international release.

Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are asking voter to choose between an immigration crackdown and reproductive rights
As their race for the US presidency comes down to the wire, each major candidate has leaned heavily
on a favorite theme — abortion rights for Democrat Kamala Harris and border security for Republican Donald Trump.
In Arizona, their ideological duel has reached a white-hot peak, with
both topics the subject of fiercely debated ballot referendums.
And in this key southwestern state — where the billionaire Trump lost to President Joe Biden in 2020 by a tiny margin of about 10,500 votes — every ballot truly will count.
In the mid-sized city of Tucson, hundreds of volunteers in orange T-shirts were going door-to-door to try
to persuade voters to back a ballot measure
to inscribe abortion rights in the state constitution — and, while they’re at it, to vote for Vice President Harris.
To Grace Ireland, a 26-year-old activist, the abortion restrictions imposed by several Republican-controlled states
amount to «a public health crisis that Donald Trump and the Republicans have created.»
She added, «Democrats and Kamala Harris are trying to push us forward and protect women’s health care and protect our democracy and protect all people.»
Une pancarte barrée du slogan «L’indifférence aux élections est dangereuse», à Tucson, en Arizona, le
16 octobre 2024
Since 2022, when the US Supreme Court ended the constitutional protection of
federal abortion rights, Ireland, a registered nurse, has worked in several states where abortion is banned or severely limited.
Those restrictions have had sometimes disastrous
consequences for women having problem pregnancies or carrying nonviable fetuses when doctors refuse to treat them.
«Women are going septic and dying because they cannot receive the care that they need,» she
told AFP.
– ‘Abortion is murder’ –
As Ireland carries her message to potential voters, she noted, particularly
to young people who may be less likely to vote, that it was Donald Trump who appointed the three
justices who tipped the Supreme Court against abortion rights.
Donald Trump lors d’un meeting à Tempe, en Arizona, le 24 octobre
2024
«It’s important to reiterate that Donald Trump and these abortion bans are one and the same,» Ireland said.
But in Tucson there is little unanimity among young voters.
«I do think that abortion is murder,» said Pedro Lopez, a 20-year-old college student.
«There are cases of incest or rape» that merit exceptions, he
conceded, «but that’s very small.»
He also worries about the flow of undocumented migrants that have entered the country from Mexico during the Biden-Harris
administration.
«People that are entering the United States illegally… should be sent back to where they came from,» he said.
«My grandparents migrated from Mexico to the United States, and they did it the right way.»
So he plans not only to vote for Trump, but to back the proposal
to let local law enforcement detain, arrest and prosecute anyone suspected of having entered the
country illegally — powers normally reserved to the border police who work for the federal government.
«I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,» Lopez said.
– Mixed impact –
The major political parties see the competing referendums as offering an opportunity to
mobilize more people to vote — on ballot
questions at the very heart of the two presidential campaigns.
Anti-abortion activists demonstrate outside a
clinic in Phoenix, Arizona on April 18, 2024
But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the
race for the White House that activists hope.
Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona, with
the Republican holding a very narrow lead.
Both ballot questions, meantime, have drawn strong support and both appear likely to
pass.
So the abortion issue may not be «helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,» said Jenny Brian, a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.
Many Republican women will vote both to protect abortion rights and to
bring Trump back to the White House, Brian said.
Though abortion is sometimes framed as a Democrat vs.
Republican issue, the Republican Party includes «a broad spectrum of views on the topic,» an issue that
also raises conservatives’ concerns about «government interference,» she added.
The same dynamic applies to immigration, with
the tougher language on the Arizona ballot question finding support not just among Trump Republicans but also «moderates and even many Democrats,» said John Kavanagh, a Republican and an Arizona state senator.
The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening on migration, specifically her promise to
maintain the partial closing of the border Biden ordered in recent months.
The vice president, Kavanagh said, is «running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.»

ANGELA HARTNETT’S BEEF & VEAL MEATBALLS
Meatballs are super-quick to make for a weeknight supper and there are many ways to serve them (see tip).
The veal in these gives a lightness to the result, but you can swap it out for all
beef, or flavourful pork mince. This is a
good way to use up any day-old bread hanging around. The recipe is easy to double up on and freeze so you have a meal for an emergency.
SERVES 4
4 tbsp olive oil, plus extra for the onion
1 onion, finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
400g tin chopped tomatoes
200g white bread (day old, if possible)
whole milk (enough to soak the bread)
500g beef mince
250g English veal mince
2 tbsp finely grated parmesan, plus extra to serve
4 anchovies, finely chopped
2 tbsp chopped flat-leaf parsley
salt and freshly ground black pepper
350g dried spaghetti, to serve (optional; see tip)
1 First make a tomato sauce. In a saucepan, heat a dash of olive oil over a medium heat, then add half the chopped onion and half the garlic, then sauté for 10 minutes
to soften. Add the tomatoes and when the liquid starts to bubble, reduce
to a simmer and leave to cook, stirring occasionally
(about 20 minutes, to create a thick sauce), while you make the meatballs.
2 In a bowl, soak the bread in the milk until soft. In another bowl,
mix the beef, veal, parmesan, anchovies, half the parsley and the rest of the onions and
garlic. Then add the soaked bread, lightly squeezing any excess
milk from it first. Mix well and season with salt and pepper.
Mould the mixture into 12-14 meatballs.
3 Put the 4 tablespoons of olive oil in a
large frying pan over a medium heat. When hot,
add the meatballs, turning (for about 5 minutes) to ensure they colour all over.
If necessary, cook in batches so they are not all squashed together, setting
each batch aside on a plate while you cook the remainder.
4 To finish, remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
Pour the tomato sauce into the frying pan over a medium heat.
Put the meatballs back into the pan for a further 4-5 minutes to cook through.
Sprinkle with the remaining parsley before serving.
TIP You can serve the meatballs as they come, or on top
of spaghetti. If you would prefer the latter, cook the pasta according to the packet
instructions until al dente. Drain it in a colander, reserving a
cupful of the cooking water to loosen the meatball sauce if necessary, and then transfer it back to the pan and toss it with a little olive
oil and butter. Put the spaghetti on a serving plate and top with the meatballs and sauce.
Finish with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of parmesan.

What do pop star Lily Allen, Olympic gold medal-winning diver Jack Laugher, tennis player Nick Kyrgios and 25-year-old Bonnie Blue from Nottingham,
who has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-old students
(and sometimes their dads, too), all have in common?
Yes, you guessed it. They are all ‘creatives’ on OnlyFans, the adults-only online
content provider founded in 2016 by a young Essex businessman called Tim
Stokely, which is now one of the most visited (and lucrative) websites in the world.
Just last month, Lily Allen caused a stir by revealing that she makes more money
charging $10 (£8) – the site works in dollars – for pictures of her
feet on her OnlyFans account labelled ‘La Dolca Feeta’ than she does from her 7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify.
But Lily’s content is tame in comparison to much of the content on the site, the sort company execs refer to as ‘spicy’.
Everything from cheeky shots of bottoms peeking out of bubble baths, blondes stirring vats of steaming pasta in G-strings,
hot men waxing cars in their pants, right through the sex spectrum to
twosomes, threesomes, sixsomes and hardcore pornographic videos.
But also because, thanks to the allure of OnlyFans and the astonishing sums that a
teeny number of the platform’s 4.1million creatives are raking
in, more and more young women (and it is mostly young women) who would
never have considered it before are suddenly happy to join in and
sell photos of, well, pretty much anything, to pay rent, settle credit card bills or splash out on nice holidays.
Basically, a flashier life all round.
‘We feel empowered. We have agency. It’s completely up to me if I take my
top off or not,’ says one 21-year-old girl, who joined
a year ago and makes enough in a week to cover a year’s student rent at Sheffield University and prefers not to give her
name.
‘And I am happy to do it because for once I make the rules, in the safety of my home and they’re paying me to
do it. It’s a mug’s game, but I am not the mug.’
For the benefit of those readers who are not among the site’s 305million users, OnlyFans offers creators a
platform where they can charge their fans a subscription fee ranging from $4.99 to
$49.99 a month to look at their content, contact them
(or more often access their ‘chatter’ – more of which later) and access often more explicit, personalised, ‘à la carte’ content
through ‘tips’.
OnlyFans model Bonnie Blue has filmed herself having sex with hundreds of 18-year-olds
Rapper Cardi B is said to make $9million (£7.1million) a month from the site
Actress Bella Thorne, a former Disney child star, made a record-breaking $1million (£800,000) in 24 hours
‘Pay $10 to unlock this video’. ‘Click here for more spicy content’.
‘The more you pay, the more you see’. You get the gist.
In 2023, the site generated a record $6.6billion (£5.2billion),
of which the company takes a straight 20 per cent – much less than YouTube – and the rest goes to the ‘performers’.
It is unlike Instagram or other social media sites in that nothing is
suggested – instead, you have to search for, and then subscribe
to, individual accounts to see much more than profile pictures.
Which is a good thing, because while some of the content is anodyne, much is
highly sexual and many people on the site can bob freely from one to another.
Perhaps a cookery hack one day, modelling new boots the next, then graduate to a few cheeky cleavage and bikini shots and more, as
the money becomes more tempting.
Every week, it seems, we hear of someone who
has made millions.
Last month it was announced that American influencer
Corinna Kopf had retired from the site, aged 28, after making $67million (£53million).
In her best month, she reportedly earned more than $2million (£1.6million).
Rapper Cardi B is said to earn more than $9million (£7.1million) a month from the site.
Meanwhile, Darcie Rattles was an out-of-work bricklayer with £6,000 in credit card bills and debts when she
joined OnlyFans in 2022.
‘I was thinking: how the hell am I going to get to next week?
How am I going to pay my credit cards?’ she says in an online interview.
‘I’m young, I’ve got a good body and I’ve got a
lot of followers. It is what any girl would turn to.
It had been in the back of mind for two years,
but then I did it.’
Within two days of launching, she had earned enough to pay
off her debts. Today, Darcie, who comes across as likeable, down-to-earth and has no qualms about what she shares,
claims to earn more than £250,000 a year.
Pop singer Lily Allen has discovered a niche market…
… she sells pictures of her feet for £8 and makes more money from her account
labelled ‘La Dolca Feeta’ than she does from her 7.5million monthly listeners on Spotify
‘It doesn’t matter to me whether I get my feet out,
or my other bits out,’ she says.
Though it does tend to be the other bits, because Darcie’s content promises very few clothes and, for those who
pay extra, ‘a naughty side to me you’ve never seen before’.
But even Darcie seems like the girl next door compared to Lily Phillips, a British model
who earned £2,000 in her first 24 hours on the site
and recently went viral for sleeping with 101 men over a 14-hour period.
She has since announced she is planning to set a record of having sex with 1,000 men in 24 hours.
And Bonnie Blue, a beautiful blonde with a golden tan and astonishingly white teeth, who has worked her way
round Derby, Nottingham, Cancun and Australia,
sleeping with university students.
On one night during Nottingham Trent freshers’ week
– after publicising her stunt by wearing a sandwich board that read:
‘Bonk me for free and let me film it’ – she had boys queuing
up from 6pm until five in the morning.
‘I got through them all,’ she said proudly in one
interview in which she reminds us that, thanks to OnlyFans, she has already banked more than £3 million –
for which she was applauded by her followers for her entrepreneurship.
But all that is chicken feed when you consider the £370 million dividend that company owner paid himself last year.
And these days that’s Leonid Radvinsky, who bought a majority stake from Tim
Stokely in 2018, two years after he started the business with the help of a loan from his father.
It was the Covid-era lockdowns that thrust OnlyFans into the stratosphere.
Everyone shut up at home, nothing to do. In 2020, it generated revenues of
$2.23billion (£1.8billion). By 2021, it was up to $4.8billion (£3.8billion).
There was a brief hiatus in October of that year when they tried banning sexually explicit content but that lasted about ten minutes before they switched back.
There have been plenty of scandals along the way.
A BBC investigation back in 2021 revealed that
children were not just accessing the material online by foxing the age verification process but were also selling explicit videos on the website.
Leah, 17, had used a fake driving licence to set up an OnlyFans account where she made £5,000
uploading revealing videos of herself.
There have also been claims of OnlyFans creators using public gyms and spaces to make adult content.
Recently there has been more concerns that the company
is not doing enough to protect minors.
OnlyFans, however, prefers to portray itself as a force for good, with supporters arguing that it empowers people by allowing them to sell content – over which they have full control – directly to consumers.
And many of the Gen Z generation seem to agree. ‘It’s fine.
It’s empowering. It’s taking control,’ they cry, pointing out that the site
has loads of moderators and a tight security system to ensure that all users are over 18.
And they say, anyway, that OnlyFans isn’t just about sex.
Of course, they’re right. It has long been awash with pneumatic reality TV stars and the likes of Lottie Moss, Kerry Katona
and Katie Price, who are happy to tease their followers with a few cheeky
peeks in skimpy bikinis.
I spend an afternoon browsing the site and, while it is not all ‘spicy’
content as the company executives like to call it, everything is dripping with sauce and promise.
The big lips, the push-up bras, even the way a pretty Spanish chef is holding
her paella pan. Company executives have been pushing hard to make the platform more mainstream – offering contracts and
financial incentives to encourage musicians, sports stars, cooks, anyone really, to come on and
share a bit of exclusive – or niche – content.
Really, anything that people will pay to look at – glimpses backstage at concerts.
Celebrities in the bath.
During the 2024 Olympic Games, a raft of athletes jumped on the OnlyFans bandwagon to
share pictures of their beautifully toned bodies.
Along with Jack Laugher, Team NZ rower Robbie Manson uses
the site to share ‘exclusive content that tastefully explores the boundaries,
including artistic portrayals of nudity’ for $14.99 a month.
British speedskater

Reality TV star Kerry Katona has also teased followers

Lottie Moss has also taken to the adults-only online content provider that was founded in 2016 and is used by 4.1 million creatives
Elise Christie turned to the site when she found herself
in financial difficulties.
All of which seems to be working well for them, but
it can be rather murkier for others.
Not least because, in less than a decade, OnlyFans has spawned an entire support industry
of ‘sugar daddies’ who support performers financially and ‘chatters’
who work for them. ‘Sugar daddies’ tend to be older male businessmen who
‘invest’ in promising creatives. In what are referred to rather murkily as
‘mutually beneficial deals’, they invest in branding and
marketing and videography to boost traffic.
Chatters are different. For the real stars, the traffic is so high and the interaction with followers so demanding that if they had to do it all themselves, there’s no
way they would ever have time to put their pyjamas back on.
So ‘chatters’ – a sort of online 21st-century Cyrano de Bergerac – do that for them.
Keeping them engaged, online, needy and most
of all, spending, spending, spending for more and more content.
Which means, of course, that the whole thing is a total scam.
The poor daft subscriber thinks he’s really making a connection with ‘Racy Tracey from Twickenham’,
but is more likely chatting to a middle-aged father of three from the Philippines.
He will have learnt everything about Tracey – her favourite
colour, favourite animal and favourite position –
have studied a script that reminds him ‘it’s all
about selling, selling, selling’, and will be being paid $4 an hour
for his efforts. Or the subscriber could just be talking to an AI bot – which perhaps is more appealing.

A year after split, I’ve had a baby and got engaged,
writes Mother Pukka ANNA WHITEHOUSE
Chatters can be dangerous. As Alanya, a paralegal from Scotland, discovered when she
learned that one of her most enthusiastic followers had
travelled to her home town to find her, encouraged by her
chatter.
‘My chatter told him that I loved him. I would never, ever have
said that,’ she said.
But, sadly, chatters, sugar daddies and stalkers are
not a problem for most creatives. Almost all of whom are still struggling to make any proper money, however many clothes they take
off.
They will never know the clout of Cardi B, or Lily Allen, or
former Disney child star Bella Thorne, who famously made a record- breaking $1million (£800,000) in 24 hours when she joined in August 2020.
(Though initially there was some confusion as to whether she would be appearing
nude or not. She did not – which caused quite a rumpus.)
Because, unlike celebrities who can redirect their existing
social media followers to their OnlyFans accounts, most people find
it hard to grab attention without doing something,
well, grabby.
So, despite all the tales of golden riches, the average earnings of an OnlyFans creative is still
just $150 (£118) a month and, with the market now so flooded, is
only likely to go one way.
And it’s easy to see how, if you’re a young woman who has convinced yourself that you’re in control, empowered and
mistress of your own destiny, you could find yourself moving inevitably and inexorably up (or perhaps down) the scale, revealing more and more.
Until, before you know it, like Bonnie Blue and Lily Phillips, you’ve kept nothing back for yourself.

she’s so silly, and in part, it’s because I’m a huge fan of everything she presents,
from Strictly to The Traitors.
But even more than any of that, it’s because I’m obsessed with
everything she wears. I’ve spent a fortune copying her
exact outfits, from her Sister Jane heart cutout dress to a bedazzled Nadine Merabi blazer
that I definitely don’t go anywhere fancy enough to wear.
Since 2005, Claudia has worked with stylist Sinead McKeefry
to perfect her signature style. I’d describe it as soft goth:
lots of black, velvet and chunky knits, with a fair few sequins and prints (particularly tartan) thrown in. I’m not alone in my reverence:
there are entire Instagram accounts dedicated to tracking down the presenter’s outfits.
But while they offer incredibly useful style inspo, two issues arise repeatedly: Claudia’s
clothes are usually hugely expensive or sold out (or both).
So when the Strictly host stepped out in a typically preppy black velvet mini dress on Sunday, you’d be forgiven for assuming it was
by some top-end designer. Well, you’d be wrong.
The mini dress actually came courtesy of one of our favourite high street brands, Albaray –
and you can pick it up for less than £100.
The dress is made from plush fabric with contrast satin detailing.
The velvet makes it a little festive, perfect for celebratory bashes over the next few months, particularly when paired with white stilettos à la
Claud. But it could be just as easily dressed down with white trainers or ballet
flats and a trench for a chic office outfit, so you’ll certainly get
your wear out of it.
Like all of Albaray’s products, it’s ethically made using responsible fabric
and sent via a carbon-neutral shipping method, so you can feel good
about the dress’s eco-credentials as well as how it looks.
It’s currently in stock in a few sizes online (and in certain John Lewis concessions)
but like most things Claudia wears, it won’t stick around long.
Now excuse me while I go and add to cart.

Forget tiny chihuahuas peeping out of handbags à la Paris Hilton, or Taylor Swift with her adorably grumpy looking Scottish Fold cats who have become celebrities in their own right.
When it comes to capturing my heart with a cuddly creature,
it’s the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, 75, who’s reinvented himself as the internet’s favourite granddad with his wholesome life with a menagerie of animals, who has won me
over.
The jewel in the crown of his ever-growing brood of beasts
is Schnelly the pig, who joined the family in April last year, making the star the latest in a long list
of celebrities to realise the joys of a porky pal
– along with Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and the Beckhams.
I’m completely smitten with the cuteness of pet pigs. I lose hours scrolling through Instagram, looking
at pictures of furry little piglets with pretty pink snouts.
There are 255,000 Insta posts with the hashtag #petpig and
I’ve probably looked at all of them. Then there’s the 286,000 posts hashtagged #micropig
and I’d hazard a guess that I’ve seen all of those too.
So I’m rather excited to discover that there’s a pig farm less
than an hour from central London, where I can find out what
it’s really like to have a porcine pet.
While celebrities might get away with turning up to
photoshoots, TV appearances and fancy restaurants with all manner of furry creatures, will I get the same reception if
I take a pig for a stroll down the high street?

The pair stopped off at The Griffin, a private members club, bistro and bakery, for
some refreshments after a trot down the high street
Samantha Rea spent time at the Kew Little Pig Farm in Amersham, Buckinghamshire
to learn how to muck out and care for pigs
Learning how to feed hay to the pigs did make Samantha
question whether it’s easier to stick with a dog or cat as a
pet
I’m hoping the Kew Little Pigs Farm will help me find
out. It specialises in miniature pigs, which pig lovers can buy or
‘adopt’ to visit on the farm.
Then there are the day trips. The Piggy Pet & Play package
lets visitors ‘pet, brush, groom, watch and play with the pigs.’ The
Pig Enthusiast package can include putting sun cream on the pigs, and
the Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping teaches you everything you need to
know before buying your own micro pig.
Clearly I must go there!
And so I head to Amersham, in Buckinghamshire, where Kew Little Pigs Farm is based.
When I arrive, owner Olivia Mikhail looks slightly concerned at the sight of my Converse trainers and
cropped jeans, a combination that will surely result in splattered shins.
However, Olivia has no idea just how prepared I actually am, because I have packed not
only knee high wellies for my time on the farm, but also my designer heels, for
my glimpse into what life’s like as a pig-owning celebrity.

George Clooney, Paris Hilton, Miley Cyrus, Jonathan Ross, Charlotte Church and even the Beckhams have all kept pigs as pets over the past decade or so, while more recently Ariane
Grande and Pete Davidson adopted Piggy Smallz during their short-lived romance.
Comedian John Bishop gave rescue pig Milo a home for more than a
decade and was devastated when the pet passed away, saying he was the ‘heartbeat’
of the family.
They’re as much a celeb accessory as oversized sunglasses – which is why I’ve brought those with me
too.
But first things first. Before I spend an afternoon taking a petite
pig for a stroll, I sit down with Olivia in the Kew Little Pigs cafe, to
complete the theory side of the Comprehensive Guide to Pig Keeping.
It turns out there is quite a lot of admin involved in owning
a pig, alongside a rule book thicker than Harry Potter.
Who knew that you needed a license to walk a pig?
Who would imagine that you can’t feed pigs your kitchen leftovers?
It used to be common practice, but has been banned because
of the risk of diseases such as African swine flu and foot and mouth disease that can be spread by
consuming contaminated pork products.
Who can fathom having to fill out a form to drive your pig from one place to another – again for disease control reasons?
After all the admin and mucking out, Samantha was delighted to move on to the fun part – cuddles
with Astrid
Samantha found that mucking out the pig pen was actually a lot more civilised
than picking up poo on a dog walk
Samantha came armed with wellies for her day at the farm, but
made sure to keep it glamorous
After swapping her flimsy trainers for wellies, Samantha felt equipped to tackle her day
on the farm
And who would guess that pigs have to have their own house?
I mean, it’s only got to be about the size of shed, but it’s actually a law to uphold welfare standards.
I suppose none of this is an issue for celebrities who have people to do paperwork for them – not to mention acres of
space – but to me it seems insurmountable.
Olivia senses that my dreams are crushed and attempts
to reassure me: ‘It’s really not that much paperwork.
Look, filling in this form would take two minutes.’
Moving on from the theory, we head outside for the practical part of the course.
Here, in large pens, are lots of little pigs which are
super cute, so this makes me happy.
I am given a rake to claw the pig poo into a dustpan. Both the
rake and the dustpan have long handles and I like the distance this creates.
It is certainly more civilised than picking up poo in a flimsy plastic bag on a dog walk.
Clearing away pig excrement with proper equipment which allows
you to maintain a civilised, and sanitary, distance makes me
wonder if – despite the paperwork – pigs might just trump dogs.
Samantha was worried she might attract stares walking Astrid through town, but nobody batted an eyelid
Samantha treated herself to a hot chocolate while Astrid enjoyed some
pig treats
Samantha swapped her wellington boots for high heels to glam
up to take her pet pig down to the town centre for lunch
Taking a pig out for a walk is trickier than it looks, and a lot
of treats are required to keep things on track
Next, Olivia asks if I would like to feed the pigs.
Yes of course! She hands me some hay that’s stuffed inside what’s basically a
large fishnet stocking, the size of Santa’s sack.
The hay sticks out of all the holes, and it’s my job to hang up
the sack in the pig pen, so the pigs can eat from it.
This sounds easy. Only it’s not. ‘NOT THERE! NO! IT’S GOT TO BE HIGHER!
TIE IT ROUND THE POST! NO! NOT LIKE THAT! NO!’
I feel like a failing contestant on The Crystal Maze, only this
is worse because I’m now surrounded by hungry pigs and I
cannot see a panic button.
I swear there was something on Netflix where murdered bodies were dumped in a pig pen, to be eaten by the pigs.
Or maybe the bodies were eaten alive. This definitely happens all the
time, according to TV, and now I don’t even know which is worse,
the prospect of being felled by pigs eating through my ankles, or the
pressure to hang the hay correctly.
It is like my challenge on The Crystal Maze has been especially devised to amuse the inhabitants of hell.
I find myself grateful to make it out of the pig pen alive.
Surely I get to do celebrity stuff now?
Celebrities’ pigs are as stylish as their owners, so I’ve sourced designer
outfits for my trottered chums. I’d initially looked
at diamond chokers by Dior, because what pig wouldn’t want a diamond collar?
But apparently pigs are happier in harnesses, which fit around the body, not just the neck.
I hunt for a harness that an A-lister might pick for their pig, and I am delighted
to discover a pink leopard print harness with a matching lead.
It is by Urban Pup, a pet fashion brand whose website I’ve now spent
more time on than all the other websites in my search history.
There’s the zebra print, the cheetah print, the pink argyle; the
florals, the tartans, and the hearts. There’s the range inspired by Legally Blonde and
the pet carrier that resembles a pink Chanel handbag.
Then there are the socks…
I turn up at the farm with more outfits for the pigs than I have for myself.
I guess this is what it’s like being a pig parent: #SELFLESS
I am introduced to Astrid, a 16 month old micro
piglet who’ll fulfill my dreams of walking a pig.
I show Olivia all the outfits I’ve brought from Urban Pup and she
picks out a pink tartan harness with a matching lead.
I want to dress up all the pigs but Olivia says no.
That’s OK. There is probably some law about only one pig at a time looking this
stunning.
When Astrid and I are dressed, we head into Old Amersham.
It’s a pretty market town in the Chilterns with cobbled streets and quaint white buildings
with beams.
So how will locals feel about a pig on a lead?
I imagine I may be sternly spoken to by a member of the Women’s Institute.
However, it turns out that Old Amersham is perfectly
au fait with celebrity antics, given that Poirot, Midsomer Murders and Four Weddings and a Funeral have all been filmed there.
On my pig keeping course I have learnt that pigs never poo where they eat, sleep or socialise, because they’re very
clean, so from day one, without any training, a pig will go outside to poo.
I am surprised then, as I arrive in Old Amersham, to find that Astrid
has done her business in her carry box. I try not to think about this,
as I hold her lead.
Our first stop is the Amersham Museum. I’m not a massive fan of walking around looking at things,
but I hear the museum homes a Tudor dining table that visitors are welcome to sit at.
It is about lunchtime, so I’m hopeful I’ll be served a Tudor banquet.
I quite fancy a tankard of wine and a bit of wild boar.
Unfortunately, Astrid does not, and so, despite being welcomed by museum director
Briony, we leave pretty much as soon as we arrive.
We go for a stroll instead, but I have to scatter pig food pellets to coax
Astrid along the pavement. I guess celebrities get their assistants to walk ahead,
trailing treats to entice the pet pigs in the right
direction.
Hard at work: Writer Samantha Rea tried the Comprehensive Guide to
Pig Keeping, which teaches you everything you need to know before buying your own micro
pig
However, doing it without an assistant, I find myself thinking that it’s definitely easier to walk a dog.
Celebrity life is about lounging in luxurious surroundings, so
Astrid and I head to The Griffin, a private members club, bistro and bakery, that’s pretty much
the Soho House of Amersham.
In the beamed building that dates back to the 17th century, there are gorgeous leather sofas
and cosy cushions. However, I have learnt on my pig keeping course that pigs are happiest alfresco,
so Astrid and I take a seat on the astro-turf terrace, beneath a pretty parasol that wouldn’t be
out of place in a Cotswolds shoot for Tatler.
It is here, as we relax like A-listers, that Astrid and I are at our happiest.
As I sip a coffee and eye-up a chocolate brownie (I’m being a celebrity,
remember, I don’t actually eat these things),
Astrid puts her trotters up on the seat beside me and enjoys a few pig food
pellets.
Clearly this is our natural environment, so it’s probably just a matter
of time before Astrid is snapped up by a celebrity to live
life first class.
But for now, Astrid must mooch back to the mud, and I must head home to
wash pig poo off my wellies.
I am chuffed to bits to have spent an afternoon with Astrid, but as I think it all over, on the train back to Marylebone, I
know that I’ll never keep a pig as a pet.
Aside from all the legal red tape, my lack of space in London, and the trickiness of trying to take a pig for a walk, there’s always the fear
that the micro pig might turn out to be not so tiny after all.
I’ve seen headlines about 4 ounce «teacup» pigs growing bigger than a bear, and frankly I find it terrifying.
So I’ll leave the pet pigs to the celebrities.

There is something reassuringly robust about The Punch Bowl Inn.
Not just in the old-fashioned bar, where the Wainwright Gold is well kept and a huge
leather sofa sits before a blazing wood burner; or in the dining room, solid and
comfortable, with its old beams, well-trodden wooden floors and tables unadorned with cloths; it’s in the menu, too, mainly British
with a Gallic burr, that makes full use of
the magnificent local Lake District larder.
Stornoway black pudding with crispy egg and bubble and squeak: ‘pure Cumbrian comfort by way of Lewis’, is Tom’s verdict
We’re here with Peter Gott, that great Cumbrian hero, and the man behind
Sillfield Farm, who has invited me up to cook at the Westmorland County Show; also chef Phil Vickery, who certainty knows his alliums;
and the force of nature that is Lorraine Stanton, something of a legend around these parts.
But first dinner, and a sublime twice-baked Mrs Kirkham’s
cheese soufflé, the texture as light as a sigh, the flavour profoundly, lasciviously rich.
Mrs Kirkham’s, now made by her son Graham, is one of the world’s great cheeses, and this is a soufflé of quiet majesty.
A mushroom soup is equally splendid, managing to be both light and gutsy, while Stornoway
black pudding with bubble and squeak and a deep-fried egg is pure Cumbrian comfort
by way of Lewis.
There’s a fundamental generosity here, matched by assured technical precision. Duck à l’orange
sees a plump breast cooked rare, the skin crisp, the sauce just the right side of bitter.
It comes with a fat potato fondant and cabbage spiked with shards of smoked bacon. I eat rump
of lamb, four vast just-pink slices, drenched in the stickiest, most gloriously intense of gravies; by
its side, a tiny shepherd’s pie, one bite of pure ovine brilliance.
Puddings are every bit as fine: a lemon tart, beautifully sharp, with damson sorbet (this part of the
Lake District is famed for its damsons); along with a banana soufflé,
this time the classic version but ethereal, served with vanilla ice cream
and a pot of sticky-toffee sauce to pour deep into its
molten centre. This is good old-fashioned food, immaculately done, in the sort of pub designed for
lingering. It’s getting late now, and we’ve an early start.
But first, another bottle of wine. Dinners like this are too rare to be rushed.

Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the movie, said Todd Philips’s new film has ‘no plot’ and admitted he knew it was

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Tim said: ‘It’s the worst film ever made.

Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?’ It’s not even hate-watchable.
That’s how terrible it is.’
Despite the negative reviews a number of fans of the sequel
took to social media after its release last month to defend the sequel to
Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture.
The film debuted to a paltry $40 million at the domestic box office, good enough for the weekend’s top spot, but less than projections, and half that of its predecessor.
Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away from the cookie
cutter nature of sequels to introduce a musical element not present
in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining the franchise.
‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding that it was ‘100% as

try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to the storytelling they presented.
It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’

We would sit there, me and these other guys and I’d
go, ‘What the f*** is this?’ And they’d go, ‘This is going to bomb, man.’ It’s not even hate-watchable.
That’s how terrible it is’
Despite the negative reviews a number of fans of the
sequel took to social media after its release last month to defend the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture
One user marvelled that Joker 2 is ‘getting universal hate despite being more interesting
and creative than anything marvel has done in years is
expected.’
It comes after lead star Lady Gaga was left ‘disappointed’ at the immense flood of negative reactions to Joker: Folie à Deux, with the singer’s team now keen to quickly push out other projects to help distract from the
furore over the film, insiders claim.
Todd Phillips‘ sequel has bombed, raking in just
under $40 million at the domestic box office, and receiving the lowest CinemaScore in comic book movie history.
Gaga, 38, is reportedly confused at the lack of love for her turn as Harleen Lee Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, 49, as the
Joker – a role that won him the best actor Oscar in 2019 – in the wake of the standing ovation it received at the Venice Film Festival last month.
‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it
after the response it received from critics before it premiered,’ a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.
‘She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect for
the DC comics fan base.’
They added: ‘Her team is quietly looking at other projects they can roll out as they want to move on this from as quickly
as possible.’

to help distract from the furor over the film, insiders claim
But despite the lacklustre reception from fans, a second
source claimed she is not letting it deter her from returning to
the big screen, with the singer said to be eyeing up a Quentin Tarantino movie.
‘She is disappointed that Joker is pretty much a bomb,’ they said.
‘She thought that this film could get her an Oscar nomination, especially since the first
film was such a success and Joaquin won an Oscar.
‘She would now like to land a role in Quentin Tarantino’s next and final film.
Nobody knows what that is going to be, but she wants to audition.
‘She’s going to lobby hard to get a meeting with him
once a script is presented, it is a bucket list moment for her to be involved.’

Australians have discovered an unlikely pop-up store offering
shoppers ‘incredible’ deals on clothing, homewares, food, and
electronics.
The temporary Vinnies locations have been set up around Victoria to help shoppers get through the cost of living crisis ravaging the country.
Vinnies, or the St Vincent de Paul Society, is a charity that works to provide support and assistance to people in need.
Most items are brand new stock donated by corporate partners including
Christmas decorations.
Popular bargains include $10 large jars of Biscoff, $2 bags of
Red Rock Deli chips, and discounted shoes from Boston Bros.
Shoppers will find men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, shoes from top brands, and even electrical
goods at the Vinnies pop-up locations.
Many have purchased vacuums, air fryers, Adidas shoes, printers, and kitchen knives from previous pop-up shops.
There is presently a location in Ascot Vale which is open until 3
November, and another in Boronia which will
remain open until Christmas – or until stock runs out.

A new store will open in Richmond at Dimmey’s on 7 November.
The themed Richmond location will focus on goods
for Christmas, summer, and the holiday season – but it will also include
household items, Bric-à-brac, and electrical items.
Shoppers have shared their thoughts on the pop-up locations online.
‘They have all the trending products – it’s so awesome,
‘ one said.
‘I bought a hair dryer from Vinnies and I’m obsessed with it,’
another wrote.
‘I always have such good luck at Vinnies, I have to
go,’ a woman added.
For those interested in the finer things, shoppers
have discovered a ‘hidden gem’ discount retailer where you can find designer buys from brands like Fendi, Dior, and Aje for affordable prices.
TK Maxx – which has stores in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South
Australia – is the answer to buying new clothes and shoes on a budget.

‘I was there for a pillow but I ended up grabbing some sparkly earrings
from [American jewellery brand] Badgley Mischka,’ Beth told FEMAIL.
TK Maxx sells old stock from previous seasons – and shoppers have
described it as a ‘clearance treasure hunt’.
Many have seen bags from Fendi, Dior, and Bottega Venetta on sale.
Others have spotted Gucci and Versace sunglasses, Hugo Boss accessories,
and Christopher Esber dresses.
Beth said, ‘I was truly blown away – so if you’re looking for a bargain, head there.’
A David Jones employee revealed in a comment that discounted items from stores that aren’t sold are shipped to TK Maxx.

ไวน์ says
Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his relationship
with Alan Joyce was a strictly professional one between a Prime Minister and a corporate titan, as
he battles claims the Qantas boss was his ‘personal travel
agent’ for free flights and upgrades.
However that characterization of the relationship was at odds with that made by Mr Joyce, who said he
was ‘good mates’ with Mr Albanese and had been ‘for
years’.
In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had Mr Joyce arrange free tickets and upgrades, Mr Albanese distanced himself from the Qantas chief.
When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr Albanese implied it was
purely in a professional capacity, having been Transport Minister and shadow transport spokesperson before becoming Prime Minister.
‘He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline … I had the same relationship with him
that I have with John Borghetti as the CEO of Virgin,’ Mr Albanese said.
That assessment was at odds with the many photos showing Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce apparently greatly enjoying each other’s company.
Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the red carpet at the Qantas
100th Gala Dinner in March last year.
In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks the red carpet with one arm around the prime minister and the other around Mr
Albanese’s partner, Jodie Haydon.
Just five months later, in August, a smiling Mr Albanese attended Qantas’s unveiling
of it’s special ‘Yes 23′ emblazoned airplanes for
the Voice referendum.
Former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce jovially walked the
red carpet with one arm around the prime minister and the other around his partner, Jodie Haydon for a special anniversary event
last year
Mr Joyce was seen touching Mr Albanese’s arm, with the PM bursting into laughter.
Even when Scott Morrison was PM, Mr Joyce enjoyed an apparently close relationship with
Mr Albanese as the pair stood close together at the launch of the Qantas’ landmark
Perth to London flight in March, 2018.
During a Senate hearing in September 2023, Mr Joyce said he
had been ‘friends for years’ with Mr Albanese.
Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese’s son Nathan a membership to
the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Mr Joyce
refused to confirm or deny but talked up his relationship with the Prime Minister.
‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’ Mr Joyce said.
However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he lobbied
the Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock
competitor Qatar Airways out of domestic routes.
It has since emerged in a new book about Qantas, The Chairman’s Lounge, by former
Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston that Ms Haydon is also a Chairman’s Lounge member.
Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce also appeared to greatly enjoying each other’s company at a Qantas event in August
last year

Anthony Albanese fires up and launches a
brutal personal attack on book author
Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy from Qantas and
he would liaise personally with the former airline boss for them.
Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his various parliamentary jobs
to ask for special upgrades for himself or his family.
According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades for were
‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome,
London, Los Angeles and Honolulu, with some being for holidays.
Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights was for work
purposes and all were ‘declared in the appropriate
way’.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations
describing Mr Albanese as being the ‘best friend’ of Mr Joyce.
Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr
Albanese had directly contacted Mr Joyce to request upgrades
while holding a regulatory position in the transport sector.
‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking up the phone to one of the most
important stakeholders in the portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again, I think the Prime Minister would be able to answer those questions more effectively than anyone
else because I’m not aware of anyone else having done it,’
Mr Dutton said.
It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also has membership of the Qantas
Chairman’s Lounge
The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce
for upgrades on Tuesday at press conference in the NSW city of Newcastle.
‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly were
not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on the A380,’ he
said.
‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’
Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how
confident he was that Mr Albanese had made calls personally to Mr Joyce for upgrades.
‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.
Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced by Mr Joyce’s lobbying to block
UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it was ‘implausible’ to think that the Prime
Minister’s office had nothing to do with the decision.
Mr Albanese’s son Nathan, 24, has reportedly also been granted access
to the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge (pictured, Mr Albanese and son Nathan in May,
2022)
‘It’s very hard to imagine a decision of any political sensitivity in the
Albanese government that would not go through the Prime
Minister’s office,’ Aston replied.
He noted the opening up of the Australian domestic market Qatar had seemingly
been sailing through with Transport Minister Catherine King speaking warmly about the
proposal until ‘everything changed’ to stop it dead in tracks.
Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the decision to
block Qatar was due to Qantas lobbying her or any Labor colleagues.
Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade received from Qantas the Australian Financial Review reported
on Tuesday that he failed to do for his former wife Carmel Tebbutt when the two
traveled together.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has questioned the alleged personal requests Mr Albanese made to
Mr Joyce while in his various parliamentary jobs
Even when Scott Morrison was prime minister,
Mr Joyce appeared to have a close relationship with
Mr Albanese (the pair are pictured at an event in 2019)
Sky New host Sharri Markson on Monday night labeled Mr Joyce
as ‘basically Albanese’s personal travel agent.’
‘This is all a question of integrity. Most Australians struggle to afford even an economy
airfare. They’d never be able to afford the luxury of business class.
It’s out of our reach,’ she said.
‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making decisions about Qantas when he’s been getting tens of thousands of dollars worth of free
upgrades to business class? The revelations puts the decision he made as transport
minister and prime minister under a cloud.
‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also politically lethal.
Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy who made it.
But now the perception is cementing of a long-term pollie enjoying the perks of public office.’
Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s apparent close relationship with Mr Joyce is that the Labor leader in a trade unionist advocate while Qantas
attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by
sacking 1700 staff during Covid.
The sacking has since been ruled illegal by Federal Court in a case brought by
the union with Qantas facing possible hundreds of thousands
in compensation payouts.
The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely defender in semi-retired 3AW radio star Neil Mitchell.
‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell wrote on X.
‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised
by having Alan Joyce as a bestie? Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.’
WHAT IS THE QANTAS CHAIRMAN’S CLUB?
The Qantas Chairman’s Lounge is an invitation-only club approved
by the company chairman, with the guest list a closely-guarded secret.
It has been dubbed ¿the most exclusive club in the country¿ and comes with a distinct black card.
Members include senior-ranking MPs including ministers, state premiers and the Prime Minister, leaders of major unions and sporting groups, Qantas ambassadors, selected A-list celebrities, major corporate figures and high-profile media personalities.
The clubs can be found in Sydney, Melbourne,
Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide but are not signed, you have to know where to look.
Inside you will find expensive wood and brass furnishings, wool
carpet and marble flooring all bathed in natural light.
Members enjoy fine à la carte dining with a complimentary
premium array of beers, spirits and Australian wines.
Wine bottles are often given as departing gift
Facilities may also include spas, showers and an assortment of books and magazines.
Members may bring in two guests at a time.
Lounge attendants personally alert you when your flight is to board and your
personal preferences are logged for each flight. Membership also entitles you to first-class
facilities at Qantas partner airlines.
